Thank you very much for uploading!!!! The sessions took place in February 1973 (track 1), January 1974 (track 4), October 1974 (tracks 2 & 3), and May 1975 (tracks 5 & 6). Holger Czukay - bass guitar Michael Karoli - guitar Jaki Liebezeit - drums Irmin Schmidt - keyboards Damo Suzuki - vocals
@@mihmih7623 It's true, their live shows suffer from poor sound recording, I rely on those I've had the opportunity to listen to in the past (I don't have the memory to name them). There are also titles that exist on studio albums, played live, are heavily improvised, and they sometimes lose quality. We stay on the studio version and we don't find the initial writing (the same game). To answer the question, the recording of Peel sessions remains exemplary in my opinion, I haven't found better, apart perhaps from the live performance of Mother Sky given in Soest (1970), video WVR.
Super groupe de ces bonnes années, pour anecdote, j'ai une ancienne copine (perdu de vue) elle a vu un concert de Can,cinq heures, sept rappels, ils ont fini une trentaine assis sur la scène,duuuu délire 😵💫😵💫
The guitar-piano duet in Mighty Girl 57:26 is peak Karoli and Schmidt. A sublime combination with Jaki on drums. See also the studio version (November) but this is better. They were in the zone here.
"Tape Kebab" at 27.15. Astounding track!!! Karoli's guitar and Czukay's tape loops are so good together. Why haven't I heard this before? And the last track "Mighty Girl" at 57.26. Brilliance beyond words. I would like to see a super hero film, called Mighty Girl, with this music on loop as no action happens in slow motion. In the early 90s, after uni, I remember driving on the motorway at night, listening to Animal Waves by Can, high as a kite. with my girlfriend at the time. Things became very unreal. After some time, I realised I was doing 15mph in the slow lane.
No "Czukay's tape loops" on "Tape Kebab". He's playing the bass as usual. And his tape technique never involved making loops to any significant extent, it was more about editing sections from improvisations and very occasionally repeating one to make a verse-chorus structure. in fact "Tape Kebab" sounds as if it could have been done live in one take - guitar, bass, drums and a tremolo on the electric piano/organ which is more or less in time with the music (Irmin Schmidt's Alpha 77 was basically a couple of tape echoes, ring modulators and filters easily capable of making such an effect - the same "chuffing" effect is heard on "Transcendental Express" ). The band also used Farfisa Sfaerasounds on almost everything, from overdrive to tremolo effects. There are versions of this track which go on a bit longer, but it becomes a bit scrappy.
@@alexeyA1 Being from a Peel Session says nothing about whether it was live in one take or not. BBC engineers were quite capable of managing a bit of over-dubbing or multitracking even in the limited amount of time available to create each session.
Highly educated musicians who found a new groove, Who needs drugs if you have music from Can? Definetly one of THE German bands in history of music. Since Jaki Liebezeit metronoms are adjusted after his playing.
Check out the Radio Waves album, there's a 35 minute version of Up The Bakerloo that they recorded for the Anne Nightingale program which, imho, is much better than this one - stuff really takes off and Damo's vocals are more engaging.
Are these songs all originals for the broadcast? Love it when bands to that. Like a free ep! That sounds great! And like Can would come on the M.F. John Peel show with some half prepared not spectacular shit ha damn fools. Band members imnsure thought we are not going to waste a chance for free use of the studios superior recording equipment. Rocking Can
Mighty Girl is a better take on November from the Out of Reach album. The studio version is great (recorded October 1977) but this live version (May 75) is brilliant. Geheim is a live take on Half Past One from Landed (September 75) Can improvs can catch magic in a bottle.
RIP Damo Suzuki
Rip my father
The recording quality is beyond words. So much better than the mushy stuff we get nowadays.

By far the most beautiful live of Can. The first track with Damo Suzuki is grandiose.
Didn't find any live records of them with good sound quality. Can you suggest, plz

Merci beaucoup anecdote Jack I am collecting these anecdotes as a huge fan who was too young to see Can live
So many distinctive ambiances with so few notes and chords.

Listening to this for the first time - feels like I'm listening to it live. Electric.

The version from Out Of Reach album can't hold a candle to this.
@@dmitrymelnik8296 Can hits their peak live but Mighty Girl - wow - sheer genius

Sounds like Jasper Carrot and Robert Powell when driving on the motorway after eating 'stock cubes' and 'sherbet'.

@@MarkJenkinsMusic It's from The Peel Sessions, so it's indeed the one take live recording.

upありがとうございます!

soooo gooood
How is this not channeling ? Genius artists, connect with the creator and the sounds flow through them.
It isn't an so called artistist ripping off another artist
Don't go in for all that " Ahead of their time " bullshit. But Tape Kebab sounds like it was recorded in 2073. Not 1973
