Meet The Woman Suing South West Water Over Sewage | This Morning

It's the shocking story that's being labelled 'the new Post Office scandal'. After moving to Exmouth five years ago, Jo Bateman found that a daily dip in the sea had a transformative effect on her mental health. But after her swims started to become frequently disrupted by sewage spills, she decided to take action. As well as suing her local water company, South West Water, she's also refused to pay part of her water bill until action is taken. And after receiving thousands of messages of support - she's joining us in the studio, and we've also sent Alice Beer to South West Water's headquarters.

Good luck to Jo Bateman - I live in Exeter and my water bills are horrendously high. I was disgusted when they were fined for dumping sewage.

Brilliant Jo ! We really need to do something about the quality of sea water.I was a keen sea swimmer ,but this year I have had numerous infections including ear and throat infections after swimming in the sea .

Well done and good luck . I have a Wembury snorkeling group in Plymouth. I haven't been in the sea for over 8 months because the sewage.

I'm not paying my sewage bill, I haven't payed for over a year now. I've asked for an itemised bill showing reductions for dumping sewage, they say there not giving one, so I'm withholding the money till it show on the bill. I was sent court papers last week, I rang the court to get a date to attend, I was told to fill in the forms they sent I told them I'm not filling them in or signing them because there all admitting guilt, the case goes on
