I love Ed and how hes grew from being the "cameraman" being awkward infront of camera to doing this virtually whole video on his own ❤
Just what i was thinking. I saw an old video on Nerd when Emily met Kevin for the first time and Ed was trying to hide off camera.
Speaking of Kevin I feel like next time these two are on the road and end up in Florida they need to go visit Chandler and meet his king cobra Kevin I don't know if they know him but I know they have some common friends I have seen several people as guests on both channels@@smarttechaddict
I was just thinking that the other day
He couldn’t resist the constant calls to give the people what they want!
So true❤❤❤
Emily under the fridge trying to get rid of the bolt while it was leaned against the table was giving me such anxiety.😅😮
ME TOO!!!!!
I had a mini heart attack when I saw her underneath it 💀
Saaaame!
Me too ! Feared she would get smashed ! But really why did they bolt these stupid ski-like things under fridge ?
YES! That needed a massive sign "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!" 😂
If you pause at 11:12 you can see the escapee on top of that door already 😂
Good eye!
what
😂😂😂
@@Lazy_drawing_you can see the snake that got out of it’s container on top of the door
Omg you totally can, that's hilarious.
A video idea where you could really introduce Argus and talk about him is one where you guys could discuss (and show) the dangers of feeding live, especially unsupervised. A lot of channels say you shouldn't feed live but you guys have a "good" example of why it shouldn't be done unless necessary and that it should be completely supervised
Exactly this. Why live feeding is dangerous, more cruel than necessary to the prey animal, and why if you HAVE to feed live, why you should NOT just drop feed it.
I agree!! ❤
I'm a patreon backer, do you mind if I copy this and post it on patreon? Maybe they'd have a higher chance of seeing it? I'll give you credit 😊
I grew up with snakes and we always did live feeding cause I thought it was the only option. Then getting older I learned bout frozen and asked my dad he said he tried and our snakes didn't like it so foe awhile I accepted it but one of our snakes was always getting bit so when my parents split I tried frozen thawed and the snakes immediately took to it. So glad I did seeing this video

"Where dreams really do come true."
I am so excited for you guys! Watching you put the breeding facility together is reminiscent of watching you put the zoo together from nothing. Thank you so much for bringing us along with you!
As a professional sound engineer and reptile enthusiast. If I could offer some advice I’d recommend putting up some corner traps in each corner of the rooms. That will be the biggest single improvement you’ll find to knock out the sound bounce as corners are where sound builds up and reflects from the most. Hope that helps. Exiting to see the new facility come to life!
Liking this post so Emily and Ed see it.
@@2007jlopez thank you!
@@2007jlopezsame here
sick i hope they see this! i will remember this for if i ever need to sound proof a large echo-y space
I love how Emily could immediately tell by Ed's tone of voice that he had, in fact, lost a snake in the new building 😂 good job Ed!
It's also funny because they both wound up introducing the same snake and Emily was all "I don't think you've seen this snake before".
If you keep snakes and haven't LOST a snake, you're lying. XD
@@lorrainemunoa791true or you haven't yet
@@lorrainemunoa791 I mean, I haven't lost snakes yet. But I'm a pretty new snake keeper! Only 9 months with my lil corn.
@lorrainemunoa791 I lost my corn snake within a month of having her because she could squeeze through the lid and the tank. Then subsequently lost her 3 more times in the first year. She hasn't escaped in about 4 years
Nothing like christening the new building by having a snake escape.
I love how, despite their success, Ed and Emily have not let money change them. Still shopping at goodwill; still doing work themselves when they could hire folks to help; still taking in rescues; and still being totally amazing, humble humans! Long live Snake Discovery! 🐍💚🖤
And of course you had an escapee who took forever to find! That's how snake keepers christen a new building! 😂😂
I mean...I think *most* people who operate this kind of small business do a lot of the work themselves, because the margins can be pretty thin and any work you do yourself improves them. The youtube and patreon side of the business is obviously booming, but it wouldn't at all weird if the zoo in particular costs way more than it makes. Hell, until pretty recently Linus from LTT was still doing a ton of this random small stuff himself and he's The Worst possible example of someone who let the money change him. In his case, into a monster.
I had some wealthy relatives in the past, and the way you STAY wealthy is by not wasting money on things you can do yourself. If you can find what you need at a second hand store, get it from there. If you can do the work yourself, then do it. Knowing when you need to call in professional help is definitely an asset though. I think Ed and Emily are two great individuals who are very passionate and realistic about the animals they keep.....and I think that's their most important trait.....being realistic.
Somehow I doubt they're that wealthy. Enough to keep and expand their zoo and reptile projects, but that's probably it.
Ed, we don't mind watching you clean. For one thing, it's an example of how to properly clean a reptile enclosure. Second, it's fun watching you guys set this facility up. This was a fun one, both of you.
I could listen to Ed talking while cleaning all day. 😆
I also understand if Ed would not film everything, if it means he cant play music while cleaning. Music = life
@@troebeliewoep I believe that's why a lot of UA-camrs have 'gaps' when they vlog because of the music they want to listen to.
From a small snake channel at home to THREE huge buildings with so much going on! You've come a long way and made it fun and interesting the whole way!
Don't forget about the 3rd one for Merch
Isn't it three buildings? The zoo, the warehouse and now the breeding facilty?
@@ConfusedKittyCorrection made thanks!

Video idea: Pros and cons of different food sources (live, frozen rodent, frozen chicks, reptilinks, etc.) It would help your mission of educating owners and would be a great time to feature Argus as an example of one of the dangers when you feed live
They did a video six years ago live vs frozen. But it would be interesting to see a more extensive video.
@@gigigonzalez1654 has it already been 6 years??? Yikes i feel old all of a sudden
@@gigigonzalez1654 Danger to snakes, or cruelty to rodents - with nowhere to escape, in a cage? If a snake won't eat frozen/thawed, euthanize the animal. Reptile are much, much less intelligent and sensitive than rodents. Do some research, I suggest. Then get back to us.
No video needed.
Reptilinks are awesome, not all snakes will eat them, but many commonly-kept snakes will, especially colubrids, so worth a try if you have a snake that has a strong feed response.
Most snakes (not all, but most) eat thawed if the thawed rodent is warmed and the snake is hungry. Easy to store frozen rodents.
Feeding live is not really necessary these days except maybe in rare cases.
FYI: depending on where you live feeding live might be illegal unless specific criteria are met
I might suggest looking into those plastic sheets like on the big walk-in freezers at costco and the like, for the "shipping area. If you're going to have that overhead door open much , they will help reduce the thermal drop/spike to the rest of the building while the overhead is open. I think uline has them in a couple of different styles
Or an air curtain. It blows to keep bugs out
Yes, vinyl strip doors!
I nice to see Ed getting more comfortable in front of the camera. He especially shines in this vlog style format.
I would still hate being filmed in the bed... She probably asked him before, but still
It might be a good idea to look into a industrial dishwasher, to help with all the dishes I'm sure you guys have. Plus (depending on the model) it sterilizes.
Smart suggestion.
Totally worth the investment, for sure. Sadly, many cannot handle plastics, so bear this in mind...
they are great, but they deteriorate the items really fast. A pet salling brand everyone knows was running out of our largest hides for mammals, bc we no longer sold them (lmao) and so we were instructed to stop using heat on them to make them last as long as possible!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
A low temp dish machine is probably best for them. We use one at work and run plastics through all the time. It generally doesn't reach 200 degrees and uses a sanitizer to sterilize instead of heat. @@redfailhawk
For the entrance, make a screen of tall shrubs so that no one can look through the glass of the doors and see the racks...it will also be a nice surprise for those entering to have to navigate the 'green screen's...and stops nosey peeps from scoping out the place at night with torches...tinted windows is another option 🤗
There is another option that I have seen lately. It is your sign or logo that makes it so outside can only see the sign/logo but see fine inside to out. They do that at the cafeteria at my kids school. Lots of glass around the cafeteria. Everyone can see out but no one can see in. Really cool for something like this.
This video felt like "join Emily and Ed as they adult and do hard things." And I loved it. 🙂 I enjoy the two of you for WHO you are, and it hardly matters what you're doing. I'd watch you guys sort socks. (You're welcome for the video idea! LOL).
I love that you both organically introduced Argus, and that you kept both intros in
twice the argus for the price of one
I think having a dedicated photobooth for your for sale reptile pictures but also so you can take pictures of reptiles being packed up and shipped out, I think someone you toured had something like that for the things they sold? It was a really good idea! You leave the shipping address and what is being shipped visible in the picture right before the box is closed so you can go back and reference what was being sent out in case any issues occurs (like animals getting mixed up or addresses being wrong)
Also I'm really curious what your old breeding space at the shop is looking like now after the move! I would love to see a video about what your doing with that space now sometime
Good suggestion! Preferably with daylight LED lights, not fluorescent, so the color of the lavendar snakes can shine through.
Hey, that lavender actually looked lavender on camera for once! ♥
Honestly I never get tired of the day-to-day tasks. I still enjoy rewatching the zoo build videos. They're just fun and give a good look into what owning a reptile facility is like.
Also what, house ghost? My curiosity it piqued!
Ikr I know they're not a paranormal channel but I NEED a video talking about their ghosts. They don't have to communicate with them but I wanna know what their ghosts have done lol
Same …. And ghost?! Since when?
@amazingbeezbuzin yeah if you watch till the end Emily finds this creepy baby doll hidden in the garage door and she says she's not gonna move it because she might be cursed for the rest of her life (solid choice), and then Ed's like, "yeah we have house ghosts we don't need a poltergeist too!" or something like that.
same! i just watched them all again yesterday
Should we tell her it’s a room full of snakes
Ed without a beat: no 😂
I laughed so hard at that part
Fun stuff!
If you do ever see this, Just a Tip: Put stylish boxes with various period products, and some paper drinking cups and emergency digestive medicines like pepto bismol, in the bathroom. Just for the day when someone REALLY needs those! I have those in my guest/open-to-visitors bathroom at my house and several people have been VERY glad.
Glad Mr. Argus has a great retirement home with you guys!
I do that :D (also condoms and rehydration salts)
@@KismetLizardcondoms don't belong at a work environment
You are amazing. Such a needed bit of hospitality.
@@KismetLizardcondoms??
The shelter i volunteered at used to operate out of a building similiar to this but it was even taller. It also had a single giant bay door just like the one the snake got onto. Well one day one of the semi ferals was finally given free reign to stay out of his cage during the night while no one was there... The morning volunteer came in the next day and found him ONTOP OF THE BAY DOOR they had to get down a cat who was still not super excited about humans as a whole let alone being manhandled two stories down to the ground. He spent some time at a fosters home after that and when he came back to the shelter rather than going back to the main floor he stayed up in the seperate room that was used for either kittens or medical quarantine he got along wonderfully with kittens so it worked out very well
Love seeing more of Ed. The escaped snake chase was fun to see. I wondered how often that happens with that many critters. Looking forward to seeing the finished snake house. Would love a video featuring all the Snake Discovery crew and what they do and their favorite animals.
It's been such an amazing journey considering Ed and Emily started doing this in their own home and now they have their own zoo *and* now a separate facility for breeders and whatever else they want to do. Well done to the stars and back guys, it's so well deserved!
Seeing Emily laying under a large appliance made me so anxious
Especially at that pecarious angle ;-; it was close to not bwing tilted enough and possibly falling and crushing her
So unsafe!!! It really looked precarious
SAME
for real
Yeah I was worried Emily was about to be fridged.
"The Curator" makes them seem like a magical being & that must be what is making me fascinated😂 it'd be cool to see a "Day of a Snake Discovery Curator" styled like a get ready with me video where they just go thru the routine (or have a stand in do it if they don't wanna be in front of the camera) You'd think it's a simple job but is probably more complicated than we think, especially with the number of snakes in their charge.
It’s been really cool to see the growth of Snake Discovery! From running out of your house, to a zoo, to the new snake house. Thank you guys for bringing us along for the journey! ❤ & 🖖 from 🇨🇦
think that is public first view of the new house. It looks very nice from what could be seen
Loved seeing more of Ed. ( don't mean bedroom vid😂)
Was really interesting seeing the new set up.
Relationship goals, you guys are the inspiration for youngsters to want to be like.
I love the vods. Maybe on one of the tall walls, considering you have alot of vertical space, you could have a set of werehouse shelving with overflow of bedding and hids stock that you can use for the breeders
It's all Emily's fault.
I had an egg hatching video in my recommended vids a few weeks ago.... and now I've watched EVERY video for the last three years.
I also went and had a look at some sneks a couple of days ago with a view to adding one to our family. I wish I could have a chonky hognose but you cant import them to Australia, so I will have to be satisfied with a bright orange albino Stimson's Python.
Emily, you are so bright and bubbly and positive all the time that I have become addicted to this channel. I'm loving the updates and the unflappable Ed just getting to work and doing what has to be done. Love you guys and cant wait to see how the new facility turns out!
Super Snek Happy Vibes from Downunder!
😢
@@dinogamerandcoder5007 Same thing happened to me. I got the Rex security camera vid as my first.
I feel for you. I want a hognose so badly but I'm banned until my teenager moves out in a few years. 😢
Aaahhhhh Emily, you had me terrified working under the fridge leaning like that!!! 😰
I love how Ed disappeared from the bed, and the bed made itself! He was that suprised by the delivery he disappeared 😂
Ah, I love Argus so much! Poor old man, he's such a sweet little guy ❤
Yes, Argus is in the right hands. I love how Emily explained why he was in a smaller enclosure to facilitate him finding his way. Makes him feel more secure.
Definitely a good time to do a perimeter check and foam block any cracks or holes you find. Also those floor vents. Might add screen covers to avoid escapees into the air system. Also outdoor carpet mats would help with echo from the slab.
Ed not telling Emily about losing a snake 😂
I would love to see a cleaning of one bin from start to finish. Explain step by step what you are doing and using to clean with. It could help a first-time snake owner.
Argus, having such a large wound, reminds me of nearly headless nick, another snake of yours, who has since passed, who was well known for his injury
Hi Ed when you checked the bin and found the snake gone he was already above the door . 11.11 He must have watched you looking for him naughty boy 😂😂😂
Sneaky snake! I loved that crazy snake. So beautiful!
Emily just casually walking around at the end with a snake was bonkers. It was just so natural and cool. I'm hoping the snakes continue to get people time.
Ed you have really came into your own. Is wonderful seeing your personality shine and just being your fabulous self. Not everyone is comfortable in the spotlight but you have definitely blossomed in front of all of us. Love u both!
Man, that is a heckin' gnarly scar poor old Argus is sporting. Oof. Hurts to look at.
Absolutely love the colors!!!! I didn't know you could get them in other colors! It just adds something extra!
Would you guys consider making a video all about what it means to be a curator? Like their duties, your expectations for a "good" curator, etc. It'd be a good resource for people who might be considering that field and want to know what the responsibilities are!
I love how everyone will NEVER let Ed forget how camera shy he was 😂
Those wall panels would make a great creeper face 😂
Ed is my spirit animal. I’m comfy in my bed & I most certainly don’t want to get out to do unexpected work.
😅 Emily, please don’t that with the fridge again. The amount of fear that I felt…
And yeah, fridges and freezers are weird the skis don’t easily come off (we recently renovated in my home so I feel the pain).
That snake earned his free time. How did he get up there?! 😂
Ed: This is argus he has a rat bite!
Emily: I want to introduce you to argus, and I bet you're wondering what happened to him.
Me: lmfao I am in fact not wondering😂
Ed and Emily really underestimate how entertaining their videos are, because I would happily watch them just cleaning and setting up and doing misc. business stuff for hours. Snake Discovery's vibes are just so good and it's so interesting to see how they run everything!
Go Ed! That kinda deep clean is ROUGH so basically doing it on ones lonesome, that's amazing
For the record, I love watching you guys feed and clean 😂
I love that ed is in front of the camera a bit more. Its nice to see you both ❤

Yay
Yay
I found a video at 19 minutes posted
Hi
claimed!!!
Love Ed's Snake Discovery tattoo! It's really fun watching you guys set this facility up too
You two are the absolute definition of “do what you love and the money will follow” love it!
Have a bit of a “fancy mouse” breeding and display area to sell some of your cutest and best mothering of micemisis.
Hy have "fancy" mice? Cute? They are all either killed for food, or bred repeatedly, relentlessly. Rodents are MUCH more sensitive and intelligent than snakes.
I had commented in the Snake Breeding Introduction Video that with all that Space that there should be a Secure Space where the Snakes could roam free for a Hours or a Day. It is Quite Cruel that these Breeding Snakes are Houses 24/7 in the Racks, even Human Prisoners get Yard Time.
I love watching these kinds of videos where you slowly put together your little (big) space for all the breeders. The acoustic noise at the end was already noticeably different from the beginning. Keep up the great work you guys ❤
During the pandemic, my favorite videos to look forward to were your zoo facility updates. These videos make my heart so happy ♥
YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN UNDER THAT REFRIGERATOR LIKE THAT. THAT COULD HAVE EASILY FALLEN AND CRUSHED YOU. Also you should’ve just used a deep socket wrench for those bolts
Dude! Watching you climb that ladder to get the rat snake without a spotter had my heart in my throat!
i love the short clip of the sneks wiggling around in their bins at 1:30
THE DOLL OMG-
It would be so cool if one day you offered tours of the breeding facility to teach others abt snake breeding! I know people who might be interested in breeding snakes one day would love to tour a larger facility like this!
Love how Ed has gotten so comfortable in the camera spotlight and doing his own segments. He's so funny and a hard worker. Definitely a keeper. You guys love what y'all do and it shows. Love all your videos and totally enjoyed watching y'all grow.
*cries for Argus* You guys are amazing for giving him a beautiful retirement.
Glad to see Snake Discovery grow & expand from your house to the zoo & 2 buildings. How about a video on backup heat & power for y'all's cold winters?
Love the green & black soundproofing 😃👍✨
I love it how you guys always do most of the work yourself.
Thank goodness for you Ed! Wires, soundproofing, rack assembly, baby snake recovery, a jack of very specific assorted trades!
love that comment at the end and the fact that Ed hadn't mentioned the escapee.
Love seeing how the snake house is coming along! What a great idea to get everything clean and fresh, despite all the hard work its taking 😁
I'm really excited to see what the entry area looks like! Since your entire (every single one??) collection is moving, not just the breeders, it'd be cool to see some nice big display enclosures in that area.
Maybe even something of a tiny tour area would be cool, possibly a glass wall/large window separating it from the breeding space that lets people see into a portion of it or walk into a portion but not all or displays some of what you do at the snake house, since it's not far from the zoo? Like those videos that look into what it's like to make chocolate at a factory, or like what MToxins had when you filmed there, with the window and extraction table right up in front of it- like a little educational space on the process of snake breeding! The table to care for eggs, feed snakes that are fed out of the bin, or even the food prep table could be put there.
You guys are amazing. I've watched you since you're very first maybe three videos and I can't believe at this point you're opening a zoo and now have another facility. And you've only continued to get better and better. Long live snake Discovery🎉
Hi there Em and Ed from Victoria Australia. I LOVE your vids. Thank you for teaching me about reptiles and not to fear them ❤
ELEVEN new racks?? Oh my gosh, you weren't kidding when you said you were going to expand your breeding program!!
love how the shelf emily is building, is exactly from the same brand off of amazon that i love to buy myself for my apartment
I wanna hear about the possible ghost situation!
I would NEVER get bored while watching snake discovery. Even if its hour shelf building & cleaning? Never. MORE SNAKE DISCOVERY ED & EMILY WE LOVE YOU 🐍🐍🐍
Living the DREAM! Congrats !
Can you maybe make a video about you and ed caring for the snakes like you usually do when you aren’t filming? I thing it would be a good video to watch. I love all of your videos!
I love how Ed’s confidence has grown so much over the years! Love you guys so much!!
I get exhausted just watching you guys..But I’m excited to see the finished product…❤❤❤you guys…
I can't believe how much has happened in the last two years with Snake discovery. From humble beginnings to two building with employees and everything! Incredible.
Aww, poor old man Argus! I'm glad y'all have him, and I'd love to see his radiograph at some point. I think one of the things that makes ppl feel off about reptiles and snakes in particular (and falsely content to leave them alone) is y'know, their inability to scream in pain. I also love the jokes of setting things on the dead Emily, and nooo let's not tell the driver that there's a bunch of snakes on our day off 😂 Everything is coming together, and it's v impressive considering it's just the 2 of you! When to move to the facility, you had LOTS of help from friends!
... mother of - !
I'd love to see more on Argus and particularly any scans because sweet heavens that's a gnarly looking injury. Poor fella. Glad he's living out his golden years safely with you guys!
It's delightful to see them being excited and happy and doing what they love. Not gonna lie, I also feel nostalgic, though, when I think of a few years ago, when everything was smaller, cosier, with a love for the business and passion for the small collection of snakes before it began to tilt towards the vice versa.
Oh well, we can't have the past and present at the same time. Wishing you much luck and success while you make the world a better, more educated, and safer place for snakes 🐍
~10:25 Watching her deal with those skis with *nothing holding that fridge up* was terrifying lol
I just want to take a moment to appreciate how far they’ve gone, and to think, this started in theyre house and now they have 3 buildings! (Zoo, merch, and now breeding!) keep going! Thanks for all the memories, and more to come!
Really, this started with Emily getting her dream job and coming home in tears because the experience with coworkers was so awful. Ed encouraged her to follow her dream and wow, has it been amazing.
The video is great but the real MVP is Ed's pillow. That thing is massive and looks comfy. I need to find that.
That little doll was so creepy, I’m glad you left it there to haunt the next person to use the truck!
Ed hiding back under his blanket is so relatable 😂
And the shenanigans when Emily was on the floor made me giggle. You two are such a wholesome couple ☺
Love your rack colabs!! Would love to see even more when I look to upgrade my snakes
absolutely wild to see you go from your whole collection housed in one suburban home, to a zoo, to a zoo and a shipping facility, to a zoo, a shipping facility, and NOW a breeding facility. goes to show what you can do when you have passion and an audience that absolutely loves you and your project. congrats, emily and ed!!!
I like the Ed vlogs, he is funny and he´s making a good job on the new facility!
You guys have come so far! ❤ I have been watching your videos for about 5 years. I have loved watching you guys get new snakes, the facility, and more! I cannot wait to see what comes in the future!
Omg laying under that fridge is insane
i worked at an appliance store and i have never seen the scootch ski;s held on like that. they usually popped off with a foot on the edge or you place foot on front of ski and push appliance backwards off it
I use binder clips on the sides of those lids on the tubs that are escapable. They work really well. 😊
Binder clips are the best for bag clips too. The bigger ones are good for hanging my snake mats out to dry also.
Im so excited to see the new snake house develop 🎉
