Can The CRF230F Handle This Big Adventure?!

  • More travel-shredding on the CRF230F! This time I made some changes to the way I carry gear, so I can carry a pretty large amount of camera gear. Ended up recording about 200GB of footage because of that... Also fixed the jetting issue from last episode (too easy). Went out and made an adventure edit with my friends, and then did some raw shredding with plenty of crashing!

    Torture Test Magazine is an e-magazine which documents, in fine detail, the stories of bikes subjected to a real-world reliability test known as "the torture test." In the magazine, the torture test is conducted on a bike until it mechanically fails so badly that it can no longer run. Why? Because bike reviews based on a few hours of test riding are not satisfying enough. We want to know exactly how reliable a bike is, and how it will eventually fail. Simply put, Torture Test Magazine brings you the world's most detailed reliability and cost of ownership reviews for motorcycles.

    What’s your chain sprocket set up on your CRF230F?, In my case I’ve lowered the rear sprocket to a 45 tooth and has helped with riding around town and some highway, while still being able to have fun at the foot of the Andes, though when going passed 12,000 feet, the original 50 tooth seems a necessity

    Excellent video! I love your channel. Do you think a WR250R could handle this off road abuse, doing this trails and so on? I see a DRZ-400 in the video too so I wonder. I like the 230F. I've ridden it. It's excellent (low maintenance, huge low rev torque, etc) but seems not the best bike for long trips with luggage so I was looking to the WR250R with some mods to achieve both goals (off road and some asphalt trips). What do you think?

    • @TortureTestMagazine
      @TortureTestMagazine  4 роки тому +2

      I think the wr250r would work beautifully for this type of stuff. I've ridden them plenty and they're a great platform. Sure that bike has some weight to it, but it's still physically compact, so it's easy to get down and dirty

    Why not a 230L? Street legal from factory, a sixth gear, full subframe for gear, suspension for gear or occasional 2up, and a rear disc brake.

    • @TortureTestMagazine
      @TortureTestMagazine  4 роки тому

      Good question. I looked into trading over to a 230L before I made my 230F street legal and I found the 230L to be less suitable for most of the riding I do. The lighting and all that street legal equipment on the 230L is quite breakable, so it would need to be re-done to how my 230F is now. No time saved on being street legal from the factory in that case. The 230F also has a 6 speed transmission and similar subframe. The 230L suspension is even worse than the 230F, since the L has about 30% less rear travel. But that disc brake on the 230L, that would be a nice thing to have!

    Where's a good place for dirtbike camping?

    • @noyopacific
      @noyopacific 4 роки тому

      Google Maps, satellite view has been my best tool for finding camping spots. Sometimes Forest Service and BLM website maps can help you to identify public lands that are almost all open to "dispersed camping." Check with the local USFS or BLM offices to make sure if you want. I used this method to find an awesome meadow to camp in while we were in Oregon during the eclipse. Every developed campsite was PACKED to the gills, but my spot turned out to be awesome, easy to get to, uncrowded and right on the line of maximum eclipse. I found the spot in the video here along Hwy 108 where Gabe got the awesome drone shots. That area appears to be loaded with good possible camping spots. www.google.com/maps/place/38%C2%B020'25.6%22N+119%C2%B047'42.6%22W/@38.34045,-119.7957132,124m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d38.3404498!4d-119.7951657?hl=en
