Patient: “Look doc, I know you’ve studied your brains out for 8 years and have another 8 years of experience and additional training, but I’ve studied my symptoms on the internet for over 20 hours and I know what I need!”
Unfortunately, many people are guilty of this very thing, self diagnosing, with or without any medical training, & do themselves more harm, even death. Leave the diagnosing to a medical professional, who can make an educated opinion with the many options available with proper training.
while self diagnosing is wrong- it would happen a lot less if doctors were more willing to run diagnostic testing rather than spit balling over multiple expensive appointments. js
That’s true and everything but when there’s nothing worse than going to an urgent care with an ear infection that started one night and have the side of your face swelling by the following afternoon and the doctors continuously saying it’s tmj. Do the tests but listen to your patients some are idiots but they know their bodies better than you
