Hey, Im a professional speedcuber also a magician so I think I can give few recommendations. Cubes now a days have magnets so some tend to be more noisy, MoYu Meilong 3x3 or Yuxin Little Magic 3x3 are quite cheap, turn excellent than the shengshou and are quiet too
These can be great as well. Cheers

both great cubes (I have a magic) but sadly not the "classic" look - both have a circle for the center block

H3 is amazing, it’s absolute genius, so much thought has gone in to this, it took me no time to learn at all. I’ve performed it already and it kills. You don’t have to be a rubiks expert either, everything is explained so simply, yet so ridiculously hidden. Best book test I’ve ever seen by far

Thanks for sharing the info on the cubes.
I'm looking forward to your indepth review of H3. I, for one, think H3 is a great addition to any mentalism cube routine.

The main issue with stuff like this is that everyone's opinions are different. That's why the Gan 14 is so customizable -- and godawful expensive. I'd say the safest bet is the industry standard (for magicians) and go with the RD Cube. Which, if it's really just the Shengshou Wind, I'll have to check that out, as I wanted to use them for my Rubik's Wall. I also agree with your opinions about the black plastic and stickers, but from a cubing standpoint, the stickers can get destroyed. Not much of an issue if it's only for magic tricks, but I carry my Moyu WRM 2021 with me everywhere, and that's stickerless. The "worst" response I've had to a Gan or stickerless cube was "Those are circles" which is a brand choice, and "It must be a trick cube," which is a regular response to magic anyway.
If I were to choose a cube purely for aesthetic choice, I'd have to say black plastics with primary internals -- the same type you see Craig Petty use. I think it really makes the colors pop. As ZealotCuber stated, magnets in cubes can be noisy, but from a solving standpoint are meant to keep the cube stable to prevent lockups. (Not being able to turn one side because another side is blocking it.) I struggle with most quick solves with the RD Cube for this reason, which is why I usually use my main cube for quick solves even in performances with other cubes. If you have a bunch of cube magic, I don't think people are going to question you when you say "This is the main one I use for solving, but as $50 a piece, I'm not using it for magic."

magnets are really for speed cubers and make the cube more expensive

@@magicorthodoxy I understand, but there are plenty of cheap magnetic cubes. On The Cubicle, the Moyu RSM M 2020 is $9 with 489 5 star reviews. Not that it isn't overkill specifically for magic, but others may have the same lockup problems I had.

the newer rubiks brand speed cubes are much better than before. since the lawsuit they lost against the cubicle the started changing their technology and improving the speed. bonus points since the classic logo comes on them

What are the functional differences between the aurora and the wind cubes? Why would someone spend $10 vs $6?

The best 2 beginner's videos for solving are by JPerm on UA-cam. After watching the first, there is a link to faster step-saving methods.
His first layer solve has solving white right away at the bottom. Most videos have you solving the daisy at the yellow on top and the moving white to the bottom. Slightly easier.
The advanced beginner video has two layers being turned at once, but it's not that difficult to learn. You won't be a speed cuber, but you'll be pretty fast.
Here's the first lesson. MORE gets you to the 2nd video.
