You could also spend sometime at some gun stores. Not saying it in a dick way. The store that gave me my license said he doesn't want to see somebody on the news for something he sold em. People at gun stores are pretty insightful on the gun laws. But dont listen to the customers all the time stick to asking the owner of a small gun store or a chill worker

I agree with everything you said. dababy is clearly within his rights to protect himself and his folks and by calling 911 immediately after the fact it shows that he is responsible and also did not want to kill the other person. big up to him and imo he should not be charged
I think he's right on the line of justified but yeah it's still justified. I would say a probably more moral and legal option would be if you see an intruder on your property and you see them before they see you and if they don't have a gun in their hand then you make yourself known you point your gun at them and if they run off okay you call the police and give them a description but you can't shoot them because they are running away, but if they reach for something or become aggressive then defend yourself and shoot them. Like Bruce said he thinks this was legal but a prosecutor could press charges because there is a argument, even if it's a bad argument, to be made that this wasn't a justified shooting.

10:13 I remember that case. On a surveillance system he had everything audio recorded. It was pretty sad and it was an older guy, a war veteran.
On the audio you could hear him shoot the girl and her moans and how he talked to her. I think the boy was killed, too.
He could have just held them at gun point and call the cops...from what I remember the old man got to spend the rest of his life in jail.

Don't talk to the operator. When you call you say there was a shooting at this address, send police and a medic someone's been shot. Then hang tf up. Trust me they'll come. You'll get arrested, that's a given. But you respectfully tell them you wouldn't like to give a statement without ur lawyers. They'll try their hardest, they'll say you don't need a lawyer, theyll say they believe yousay let's wrap this up, theyll try good cop bad cop. They don't care if it was legal. They wanna wrap it up. Even if they were to die, you can still be sued by the family of the perpetrator on the basis of a “wrongful death”. The correct approach is to shoot to stop (in principle). Best approach is to avoid killing unless absolutely necessary.

Firearms for neutralization isn’t generally a good idea. Everyone thinks “I’ll just shoot them in the leg and neutralize them” while failing to realize the largest artery runs through your leg. Yes it’s better than shooting center mass but if a fire arm comes out it should be somewhat expected that it’ll kill the person regardless of where you hit them.

when in a conceal and carry class they will tell you not to shoot unless you're willing to kill and not to shoot someone in the leg because it shows you weren't in fear for your life. so idk. he'll have a good lawyer if it goes that far but I've always been told if you need to shoot someone you better make it count and don't shoot someone in the leg cause it shows you weren't actually I'm fear for your life.

You're more likely to kill someone by shooting them in the leg due to how many arteries there are. You pop someone in the leg, and unless they get medical attention fast, bleeding out is a real and dangerous thing.
Not every state has castle doctrine, Bruce. I'm surprised you didn't mention the wide variety of laws regarding use of force around the US.

Actually Bruce many states including mine have a “duty to retreat” even in your own home. So using a firearm how you suggest at the end there would get you in hot water legally. Just a heads up, be careful

New Hampshire supposedly has castle doctrine and stand your ground law but my lawyer told me you can’t shoot someone that’s in your house unless they’re armed when I stabbed my ex drug dealer who took my shotgun from me and tried to shoot me with it and cuz I left my property cuz I wasn’t thinking straight I couldn’t claim self defense and the police charged me with 1st degree assault my lawyer told me if I would’ve shot him with my shotgun before he took it from me I would’ve been charged with murder

Castle doctrine doesn't automatically apply to outside the home. You don't get to automatically shoot anybody who enters your property otherwise all mailmen, census workers, firefighters, police officers, would be dead. We need more information to know if this was a legit shooting. Accidentally trespassing is very easy in some places too. Seems like this was a reasonable shooting though.

I think it would depend on your training and level of experience with a gun. Also distance would be a factor, as a point blank headshot would probably be tried differently than a headshot from a long distance away, especially if there's multiple shots fired, which would conclude that you weren't very good with your aim and only hit him the one time.
Again tho, I have no idea cuz I'm not a lawyer lmao
If they have a weapon and/or you have fear for your or your families lives, it is by law, considered self defense. If they are unarmed like the dude was who DaBaby shot, and you shoot them in the head, it will be very hard to argue self defense for that. I would not aim for the head, chest or neck unless you are shooting to kill, if you are shooting to neutralize, aim for the hand, leg, shoulder or arm. Never shoot someone in the back either, that will get you a charge just as quickly as straight up murder. If you did shoot someone in the back, they consider that as them attempting to flee.
It could be. But now you have to go to court and probably trial. And more court fees. It's just better to shoot them in the leg. If you kill someone justified, it's best to record it unfortunately..
