Which is the best country for Masters in Industrial Engineering?

    •  7 років тому +2

The best schools can be found in the U.S.A.
So I will have to say that the United States would be the “best” country to study at (e.g. Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M...) . Yet, I believe that you should look at more than just which school has the best ranking because that school may not be the best fit for you.
Ask your self in what type of climate would you be comfortable, what country would you like to be at, and what language would you prefer. After that look at the schools that meet your criteria and pay attention to the professors profiles. Being in a university where the professors are working in topics that interest you can open doors for you in the future.

    Hi...
    Helpful video.
    I want to know something.
I have done my bachelor's in mechanical engineering from India and currently I am pursuing my Master's in Industrial Engineering in Germany. Can you tell me what is the scope of Industrial engineering? As well as whether I have taken a wise decision of choosing Industrial engineering for my Master's as I am a mechanical engineering student?

    •  6 років тому +1

      Hello,
I believe that Industrial Engineering can be useful in all applications. You just need to find what is your calling.
Could you tell me what is it about Mechanical Engineering that attracts you? Also, what do you see yourself working on a daily basis?

    • @shubhampradeep9798
      @shubhampradeep9798 6 років тому +2

      @
Thanks for the answer. Ummm.. I struggled somewhat with core subjects in my bachelor's such as strength of materials, Theory of machines etc. That's why, I decided to pursue my Master's in I-ENG. To be honest, I like design aspect of mechanical engineering, modelling softwares such as CATIA , AutoCAD. But I never wanted to do Master's in Mechanical Engineering because of technical stuff.

    •  6 років тому +2

In that case I suggest you look into production, simulation, or facility layout. It may be something that resembles what you liked about ME 😃

I have done Bachelors in industrial engineering & management recently Please tell what should i do now Masters in I.E or Masters in Management or MBA from germany? Thank you so much in advance.

    •  6 років тому +1

      Hi!
It is awesome that you have an IE & Management degree and even more so that you want to continue to study.
Before you decide which path is the right one you need to identify what is the thing that you liked the most from your training.
What brings you joy from what you learned? What can you see yourself working on?
If there was a particular IE branch that you loved (ex. OR, Ergo, Quality, Stats) or do you see yourself managing a team or do you want a high management position or even start your own business.
Depending on your answer one of them could be a better option or even any of them may fit the bill. Then it would be a question of accessibility.
Are all those programs offered at universities you could attend? Do you know the faculty or what they are working on?

Which University or College will you suggest doing Masters in Industrial Engineering in Canada??

    •  6 років тому +1

      Hi Meghnath,
I don’t believe the university makes any big difference. What is most important is that you have a good advisor and can find an exciting topic for your thesis or project (unless you are doing an exam). As long as the uni is in good standing not necessarily a top university you will be good.
I would however recommend you peruse the list of professors of each of the universities that caught your eye. That way you know what the professors can contribute to your professional growth.
Now I can testify that Montréal is a good area to be with many universities that have excellent professors you just need to find something that speaks to you.

      +abd noumane
I suggest you speak with the academic counselor of the department to set up a course plan. Afterwards you should consult with a friendly professor if you have access to him or her or a senior student.
Usually in the Masters there are core courses you have to take no matter what. So you may try to take those at the beginning and leave the electives until the end to have a better idea of the direction you want to take.
None the less you should consult with the resources available at your university, given they know (or should know) the program better.
I wish you the best of luck!

I am a telecommunication engineer and i'm looking forward to study master of industrial but that will be in dutch language, any advice 😌

    •  7 років тому +1

      Hi +maharef,
I am happy to hear you will be pursuing a master in industrial engineering.
I would say that you should study in detail the institution where you will be taking your classes. If there is a specific topic you are interested in within IE check which professor in the institution covers it, either in class or in research. Once you do check the courses they offer, aim to take a class with them, you could even write them an email to seek their mentorship in class selection or as an academic advisor. Maybe there is a professor that specializes in telecommunication.
Additionally, in terms of class performance reviewing statistics is always a great idea. You could check Kahn Academy for free online refreshers.
I am not sure if this applies to you, are you a native speaker? If not what comes to mind is acclimatizing yourself to the language. Start watching movies, UA-camrs, or series in said language to be in tune when you start hearing your professors.
      Best Wishes!
      Sincerely,
      Rose

      The short answer is YES.
Now depending on the institution they may require you to do at least one semester of core classes from Industrial Engineering to make sure you have the basis covered.

You would have to go trough the departments webpages and have a look at the profiles of the professors. Each university will have a webpage for the departments and the professors. In their profiles professors usually list their projects and research. Another option is to Google them in googlescholar.com but you need their names first.

I had my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering last year but I have developed a keen interest in Industrial Engineering after I took a systems engineering course back in school.
Is it advisable to pursue an Meng program in Industrial Engineering since I’m looking for a professional career in that field?

    •  6 років тому +1

      Yes!
Specially if you can find an intersection between Civil and Industrial, and believe me there are.
I remember when I was doing my masters one of the students in the program was working in with a professor from Civil Engineering and a professor from Industrial Engineering in the design of the use of concrete. Also, a professor in the IE department was doing research in construction project scheduling. I am sure there is more to go on.
If you wish to combine the two fields look at the research IE professors are doing and see if you can find something that relates to Civil Engineering.
And even if you don’t do a thesis or a project (there is an option to just take an exam in most university programs) having IE knowledge can help you in any field :-)

Which schools did you have your masters degree in Canada.
And which schools in Canada offer Industrial Engineering. I only know of Concordia and Dalhousie University. And also are they scholarships available for international students pursuing a masters degree in Industrial Engineering

    •  6 років тому +1

I got my masters in Puerto Rico at the UPRM.
As for Canada I am not sure of the complete list but here in Montreal we have Concordia, Polytechnique, and ETS.
In terms of funding I am not sure every master student has a full scholarship. It depends on the professor you are working with (i.e. if he/she has research funds). Also there are some scholarships available for international students although they are not as many as those available for Canadian students. But I have to say tuition here is cheaper than in the US even if you include the international fee.

if you want a non-academic career or make $$$, Industrial Engineering is a rather generic program which some fall into if they cannot hack the other Engineering Programs, re: career development.

    •  5 років тому

      Well it depends...
Many peers, including myself, have backgrounds in Industrial Engineering and we are in the pursuit of an academic career.
And yes some do use Industrial Engineering in the way you mentioned. But most of them do end up realizing the value of IEs and the skills that need to come with. Of course it depends on the curriculum of the university but IEs must acquire basic knowledge from the other engineering branches.
