The protector gets so out of shape that the ball stops going into the hole. Already happened on a brand new game, same day it was installed out of the box.
Yep! My local pub got a brand new Rush. Scoop is the worst! They have fixed it, but now 1 in 7 (?) goes down the middle. Spider sense is telling me the fix won't be permanent either. I am a bit grumpy. Having problems with one of the most frequently used areas makes an already challenging game a lot less fun.
Cliffy's usually follow the bevel and are not 90 degrees creating the gap you speak of. If that were the case you would have metal fatigue and eventual breakage of the protector. Cliff and I just had this conversation a few weeks ago re my KISS. Stern had changed the bevel of the scoop at some point during construction and the beveled Cliffy did not match. Anyway, put the Cliffy's on prior to plunging the first ball and call it done!
A local distributor told me that Sterns halted production and is rectifying the problem with a fix before shipping resumes. Does that sound correct? Thanks.
@@CaryHardy Thanks. I appreciate the quick response. I only have one pin, Twilight Zone, but have been waiting for two decades for RUSH, and think it's ridiculous to spend basically 8K for something that has an Achilles heel right out of the box. So, I'm glad to know they're actually going to fix this thing. Cheers man!
Got to play it this past weekend.. I really enjoyed it .. It was a fun shooting game but didn't really get to dig into the code.. its a shame that issues like these squeak by QC
I’ve never had a problem once adding Cliffy protection to the ‘Stroke of Luck’ hole on my AFM. And my game is like 30 yrs old. As Shakespeare said “Much ado about nothing”.
"I say certain because as per usual there may be a select few that are getting this issue but it's being magnified and seems worse than it probably is." That's pretty much anything on any pin that has ever gone wrong - ever. Reminds me of the XBOX 360 "red ring of death" conspiracy that kept pointing back to the same 3 photos on the internet back in the day. ;-)
Are you some type Stern apologist or do you work for them? Their quality has been shit for some time. Also the Xbox red ring of death was a huge problem for the first generation 360's. I had two of them bite the big green weenie because of it.
@@jessepacheco6020 Are you kidding? A Stern apologist? I have 30+ of their games and I'm aware of their issues. Maybe not in this specific case, but in general, people tend to amplify problems as larger than they are or think that any problem they encounter, whether or not it's related, is that issue. And yes, the RROD was overblown compared to how often it actually happened.
since rush is just xmen, I'll share my experience with an essentially new xmen... if you put a cliffy on when it's perfect you'll be glad you did thousands of games later. its not a fix for an already damaged game.
Things like this are bound to happen when you... wait for it... RUSH a design into production like this...
I'll see myself out...
Ok ok, not bad not bad
Badoom tish
Ayyy Ohh! I see what you did there...🤣
I can see why Keith Elwin and Zombie stayed far away from this pile of shit...
This kind of metal edging on holes in the playfield should be standard. That's one of the biggest wear areas for any machine

Did they ever fix this?
reminds me of the twilight zone slot machine kickout immediately launching your ball out as a cannon to the playfield when it bends.
Stern has already said the le will come with a heavier protector
It's all about them maximizing their profits by cutting quality.
Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, they don’t pre run the games to find these problems or maybe they due know and go anyway………
Stern only has a 60 day warranty. They don't give a fuck. Especially when you're just about the only real player in the game.
Same issue with Munsters scoop. I got a new 'cliffy' under warranty.
Oh no. Welp, still waiting on my pro, so Thanks for the warning!

Don't think they have "halted", but are installing improved protectors.

Hmm, I thought Stern knows how to make reliable scoops.
I have a Godzilla and a Halloween coming someday. After that I'm done buying new machines. You hear me Stern? Too much money for not enough quality.
It's sad when tables built in the 80's have better build quality than new ones. Gary Stern is a cheap greedy pos.
An internal "Mantis" type protector may work best here...they are a bit more resilient.

Added clearcoat on scoops pleeeease.
Just curious, did you end up getting rid of your stern TMNT? Thanks!
Traded for the Jurassic Park
You need to do another Stern skit on this. Those are hilarious!!!
One is in the works! Writing on it today actually.
@@CaryHardy Awesome!!!
@@CaryHardy Awesome!!!! Those SKITS are GOLD!!!! We need to laugh!!!
What about a Mantis style protector?
Great informative video
Cliffy still around?? It fixed my Creature.
I'd take this over my GnR issues any day.
John Borg has how many years of design experience? Come on man. Even I would have put mylar and a cliffy there. Or no scoop at all.
He didn’t on X-men. Why do it here? Its bs, I know. Seems like it should be standard for the price.
Nothing fixes better than washers!
$25,000 for purple Elvira is why Stern doesn’t care!!
I had to give it exactly what this vid deserved...zero! If i didn't want to buy a used pin I'd look elsewhere.
So nothing out of the ordinary then lol
Keeping it real!!! Thanks Brocefus!
Honest criticism: you take way too long to get to the actual info. As Shakespeare said, brevity is the soul of wit.

Rush is just Xmen... on what planet are you on?
@@harryeichelberger4799 the redundant planet of redundancy. If you can’t see it I can’t really help you. 🤷♂️
Now if they could just fix the terrible music in the game, lol
It's a pin based on a legendary progressive metal rock band, man... sorry, no fiddlers on board. 😉
