- From 2007, this limited edition resin bust of Bruce the Shark by artist Paul McPhee was one of the first highly-detailed movie shark sculptures fans like myself were dying to add to our collection. Check it out!
JAWS is a 1975 Universal Pictures film directed by Steven Spielberg based on a novel by Peter Benchley about a killer great white shark terrorizing an island community.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my Bruce sculpture. I was never a sculptor. I’m known as an oil painter, but I love JAWS so much. I made the attempt and pulled it off. I was very surprised at how much sculpting was like painting in a lot of ways. There’s a lot of parallels you’re looking at a reference and trying to duplicate what you’re looking at. Problem with sculpting you have to do all four sides, unlike a painting, which is only illusion... I showed it to Greg Nicotero through photos as I was moving clay around and he said leave it just as it is and bring it to me so I can make a mold for you that’s how the whole thing happened. I appreciate you featuring, my bust in your video. It was a great surprise finding this
Oh by the way. I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever. When I was married, my wife had to fix everything lol. So yes, the base does suck. later when I started using the bigger bases I used wooden dowels and two part epoxy, which worked much better. I thought putting screws in the foam with some glue would hold it, but unfortunately, a few of them fell off over the years. I can send you a picture of the base that I switched to that I got at Michael’s when I started putting the barrels on the piece. if you want barrels I believe I still have the mold for that, I’d be more than happy to send you three
That would be awesome, Paul. How can we connect?
I love this sculpt you did, Paul. All my stuff has been in storage for decades and I'm finally able to bring it out and enjoy it. I wish I had more viewers to see this piece of art. You did an amazing job! I admire your skills.
I have the same jaws bust, im in the UK and picked it up from a collector selling it on eBay. I did some restoration on mine and it looks great now. 👍
That's awesome. It's a real nice statue!
Incredible bust, I’m still waiting for Neca to release the Bruce shark, it’s been forever and I’m beginning to wonder, hopefully someday I’ll be rich enough to order something from shark city ozark, did you see the 84 cybot animatronic Godzilla Xplus is releasing? I’m Diffently ordering that and possibly minus one
Yeah, I hope the Neca Bruce is still being produced. I just checked out the 84 Godzilla; very cool and under $200!
@@thecantankerouscollector looks something ray harry himself would’ve produced, they made a suit and an animatronic for 84, Godzilla 98 was the only other robot they made for the big G, that’s a must have for me and my first Xplus, 84 is my favorite then minus one then shin for my top 3 suits but the cybot is something special, are open vault collectibles reliable for preordering? I’ve heard things, thanks
I saw Godzilla 84 when it was Godzilla 85 in the USA. I don't remember them using a robot for some scenes but it was a long time ago. I've never ordered from Open Vault, sorry.
@@thecantankerouscollector thanks, yeah it was the up close shots mainly, they switched to a rubber suit for movable reasons
