Really enjoying rewatching your Ops videos 😊hoping to see another one in 2024, once the line is served by trains again rather than replacement coach service 😀
For sure Pete... No one wants to ride the dreaded bus around the layout! The LE/NE train will be affected the most by all the layout changes. I'll have to shoot a new video covering it's operations when everything is stitched back together.
Love the big industries. I have several dumpsters on my layout but not a compactor. On my next section I will put one by a warehouse like you did. I love getting new ideas from other modelers. Glad I subscribed
You’ve made a lot of changes to the Paper Plant! Not only the building but the fact you’re stationing a switcher for the plant and lightening the load on the Paper Plant turn crew... the four track yard is a nice touch... Can’t wait to operate it!
Yup there's been a change or two. Much better to operate now Jon. Changed the ladders on each end of the yard to make things a little smoother. The plant switcher is a little more fun. Gives me an excuse to have a beat up old GMD-1!!
I love all the layout buddy, always look forward to new videos to watch and relax to. Love the Gemini jets and herpa models under the layout as well. Do you have a airport diarama for them, or do you just collect??
Hey thanks! I appreciate that. No room for a full airport so the die cast airliners just sit in a display case. Might do a simple flat terminal one day with a few gates just for fun. Cheers.
All my chip goes are Deluxe Innovations Pete. At least three different body styles were offered at one time. Not sure if they can still be found or not.
Thanks so much! I don't have plan drawn up and handy. It's as simple as it looks though. You can see all the North tracks in the vid and the wood-chip receiving track runs the length of the back of the building. RMC will be publishing a track plan soon that should include the layout of the plant.
I see you've added a sound locomotive, thought's on sound? Do you modify your deluxe wood chip cars at all, resin loads? I've have body mounted and added extra weight into mine then added a false floor to cover the weight. I plan to add removable chip loads. The Mill is looking great, thanks for sharing.
I'm not a fan of sound. My boy really likes it and with the volume turned way down I can live with it. Sound in one locomotive is kinda neat. I was at a club layout way back and everyone was running with sound cranked up. Had to leave when the blood started oozing from my ears. Chip racks are modified, as are all the cars on the layout. Body mount couplers and BLMA trucks. Cast my own loads and dropped a steel washer into mould as they set up so they could be removed with a magnet. Thanks for watching David. Cheers. -grant
They are nice. Glad I stocked up when. they first came out. Can't seem to get my hands on any in the last few years. I just picked up some Tangent wheels to try out. They look identical to the BLMA wheels. Likely from the same factory.
@@SouthernAlbertaRail I'm with you on volume needing to be turned way down. I will say, though, that an IM SD40-2W in consist with a Rapido Dash 8 is pretty cool as far as blending engine sounds in a single train. I know you're more CP than CN but a grain train on a diversion could fit your modeled era and timeframe, potentially!
Seriously can't get enough of these op vids. I've watched this twice. Grant do you have an Instagram or some way I could send you a pic? I'm making a bunch of procor sodium chlorate cars. I have a mock up done. I think Briggs models might be making one? But anyways very important car for any pulp mill! Thanks for the videos
You can send me a pic via my Facebook page. facebook.com/Southernalbertarail Love to have some Sodium Chlorate cars. Not sure if Jeff is making one or not.
So relaxing, watching your channel Grant.
Glad you're enjoying it John! Making your way through a good chunk of it so far.

@@SouthernAlbertaRail really look forward to that. 👍
Dude!
Have driven one or two of those myself over the years. Salute!
Thanks for tuning in Ted.

Thanks, glad you subbed as well!. N scale begs for big industries in my opinion. Cheers! -grant
Really good post. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

Nice one.. has inspired me to tweak my track plan into something with a ‘purpose’ - a yard serving industry, not the other way round!
Awesome! Thanks for watching Jerry.
The Prairie Shadows/Trainworx semis are sooo nice. Thanks for the ops vid!
They are that Karl. Jeff has some really cool stuff in the works. He and I spent a pile of time digging through pics fro the 90's and 2000's.
Great switching video, enjoyed it. Thanks for the video on CV's, I use it and it helped out a lot. Bob
Thanks Bob, glad the CV video helped!
Great video Grant. Cheers Brad👍
Thanks Brad👍. Cheers!

Ahh man that sounds really great! Would enjoy to see that some day in the future. Go SAR!
nice switching , Top !!
Thanks Harold. Appreciate that.
vert vert nice video again
Thanks again!
Can I ask which wood chip wagons you use to serve the paper plant?
All my chip goes are Deluxe Innovations Pete. At least three different body styles were offered at one time. Not sure if they can still be found or not.
@@SouthernAlbertaRail Thanks Grant I will keep my eyes open. Maybe those Rapido guys will add it to their to do list ✅
That is a very cool paper plant! You not by chance have a track plan of the plant you can show?

@@SouthernAlbertaRail RMC?
Railroad Model Craftsman magazine.
Looks great! Did you scratch build the dock door trash compactor setup seen at 0.44 or is it a ready made model?
Scratch built it 25 years ago or so.
AWESOME VIDEO
Thanks PJ!
What are the covered hoppers carrying?
Stand ins for kaolin Scott. Hoping to be able to include sodium chloride cars to the mix one day.
Very nice
Thanks Matthew.

@@SouthernAlbertaRail Let me know how the tangent wheels work. All I can find these days are Intermountain wheels

really nice operation! is SAR a real railroad ?
Freelance. I have been modelling it for 35 years though!!
Good stuff, looking forward to the next part, any chance we’ll get to follow the LE/NE or NE/LE at some point?
That's the plan. Both will be covered soon.
Great videos. Are you using Atlas code 55 track?
Yes, Atlas Code 55. Thanks for watching!
Sweet!
Thanks!
What kind of track do you use?
Atlas code 55.
at 11:01 i see you have a lot of model planes as well as trains
Just another weakness!!
