I never cared for brown rice until I began sprouting it about 10 years ago. I got out of the habit of doing this over time, but I'm going back to it. Thanks for your very concise and straightforward video.
What a great tutorial. You go, girl! Sprouting brown rice reduces cooking time to 15 minutes. It's worth the time and effort for increased nutrition and digestibility. Then you save fueld costs also. Thanks!
Very helpful video. Nice, short, sweet and clear. I actually wanted to know how to sprout oat groats since that's what I've been encouraged to eat for health reasons, but as there were no videos on sprouting theses I thought that this would be the next best thing, and I wasn't disappointed, so thank you very much. 👍🏽
I've recently got into sprouting broccoli sprouts I never thought that I could do this with brown rice thank you for this video definitely want to try it
Very informative video! Well done! I have one question: during the 12 hour soaking time, does the jar/bowl need to be covered? Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and knowledge!
Should one rinse the rice before soaking to help reduce the Arsenic? I've done some research and found inorganic and organic have the same amount arsenic and that brown basmati rice grown in California contains less arsenic then others. Side note: I always purchase organic non gmo products but think it's important to spray with a food grade cleaner and rinse unless the person is growing their own foods then it's up to the individual. Great video thank you.
Well I'm no expert but yes I've researched like you and the arsenic content in rice depends on where it was grown and how much arsenic is in the soil where it was grown. There are thousands of different kinds of rice grown all over the world so you could research arsenic rates for different rice growing parts of the world. I don't think a simple rinse would rinse off the arsenic but I read that the long initial soak when sprouting rice may help some of the arsenic to be released into the soaking water which is then discarded after the soak time.
I have tried to sprout organic Lundberg California jasmine brown rice. It did not sprout. I followed your tutorial. Asked Lundberg and they said that bagged rice cannot sprout. What rice do I use.
TWO QUESTIONS: 1) Does SPROUTING NEGATE the need to add a dollop of something acidic (like vinegar or lemon juice) to the overnight soak water in terms of phytic acid? 2) Does COOKING NEGATE the improved nutritional profile of sprouted foods?, and if so, by roughly how much?
Jessica i have been sprouting grains but never had i been able to sprout brown rice...i did some sweet br rice now and after two days zero sign its sprouting
Help me understand please. Must you soak the rice for 12hrs, then rinse the rice two to three times and then invert the container and leave it for an additional 24hrs while rinsing twice a day?
how do you tell that the rice is sprouted? so hard to determine. if the rice is translucent and you can see a root (if you will) inside is it considered sprouted? thanks. nice vid.
Awesome video! I’ve been on a raw diet and I’d like to have something a bit more satisfying than just fruits and veggies for every meal. After the rice has sprouted, can I eat it without cooking it?
How much water would be needed to perform this sprouting? Especially draining ang rinsing each time? How does it taste? Can this be with other types/colors of rice? If I bought brown rice right now, how long would it take for me to process and cook just to serve my family?
I used to sprout grains so easily before but when i moved to Sweden, only 20% of the grains in the jar were sprouted and the rest are dead. Even organic grains. Why is that? Can you give me any ideas please? Thank you
my br rice is not sprouting where do u buy yours? i heard only fresh br rice works do u have any knowledge about this? i have been able to sprout rye and other grains like buckwheat and spelt and soft wheat and kumut no luck with millet however or quinoa i rinse three times a day and i have a sprouting lid i even try to put a dark towel over them to keep them away from light
i've only very recently found out about sprouted rice and i tried to sprout some of my red cargo rice at home, but they didn't germinate at all even after 3 days. are there any specific types of rice that can or cannot be sprouted?
** please do NOT invert mason jar with no airflow. Bad bacteria will breed if you do. Instead, leave on the side with cheese cloth side clear. Cheers**

Where do you get your sprouting rice. Most companies heat treat their Rice to prolong shelf life hence preventing sprouting?
What a great tutorial. You go, girl!

Thanks!
You need to show the sprouted grains, and a dish of cooked grains.
Was hoping to see the finished product

Eating brown rice almost every day but never tried sprouted rice before. Learned how to in this video. Thanks.
You are the first one that I've heard explain how enzyme inhibitors protect the plant or grain, simply explained
Jessica, it would be helpful if u showed a BEFORE & AFTER of how the rice looks AFTER it germinates....Happy New Year!!
She can't even pronounce phytic acid correct, what do you expect.

wont any enzymes or added nutrients from sprouting be lost when cooking? Like pasteurising milk.

I have tried to sprout organic Lundberg California jasmine brown rice. It did not sprout. I followed your tutorial. Asked Lundberg and they said that bagged rice cannot sprout. What rice do I use.
Rice used to sprout just leaving in the fridge for a few days.
But I never see rice sprout ever again these days.
Very helpfull, thanks I'm trying it today
does it matter that you rinse it in the faucet water? or should we rinse in filtered water?
very well planned and presented
Is it ok to cook sprouted brown rice, the store in refrigerator to reheat for another time?
Very well done.
Good stuff. Are you still making videos?
I own the same white side by side ref thats behind you.No complaints
Very concise. Thanks!
I have also heard that the soaking water is good for plants.
Great video! Thanks
Good explanation
I'm curious why use purified water the first time if you're using regular faucet water to rinse and drain the 2nd & 3rd time?
I'm guessing because the first time she adds the water it's going to absorb into the rice. The second time she is just rinsing it.
I really like the way you speak.
thanks for the video. Does it help removing arsenic from the rice as well ?
TWO QUESTIONS: 1) Does SPROUTING NEGATE the need to add a dollop of something acidic (like vinegar or lemon juice) to the overnight soak water in terms of phytic acid? 2) Does COOKING NEGATE the improved nutritional profile of sprouted foods?, and if so, by roughly how much?
Jessica i have been sprouting grains but never had i been able to sprout brown rice...i did some sweet br rice now and after two days zero sign its sprouting
perfect! thank you!
Amazing video. Thank you!
I ate my sprouted rice raw. Does it have to be cooked?
Help me understand please. Must you soak the rice for 12hrs, then rinse the rice two to three times and then invert the container and leave it for an additional 24hrs while rinsing twice a day?
Thanks for the vid - do you have to cook it, or can you eat it raw?
I wonder if this will take out most or any arsenic that might be in rice?
how do you tell that the rice is sprouted? so hard to determine. if the rice is translucent and you can see a root (if you will) inside is it considered sprouted? thanks. nice vid.
best video ever.
Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
Gaba rice is it suitable for arthritis people ?
should i keep rinsing? i mean does it take longer for br rice to sprout than it does grains?
I soaked organic brown for about 12 hour it started giving off a strong perfume smell is this normal could it have started to ferment ?
Awesome video! I’ve been on a raw diet and I’d like to have something a bit more satisfying than just fruits and veggies for every meal. After the rice has sprouted, can I eat it without cooking it?
You need more than fruit and veggies. Yes, you can eat it after it has sprouted in its raw form. I would allow it to sprout a little more though.
how long does this take< then how do you cook it? just like rice normally, little water and simmer??
How much rice did you start with to reach 1.5 c sprouted rice? and how much was the result after cooking?
All good so why not show the results!
Does this go for quinoa as well??? Sorry if it’s a stupid question

What about if it’s parboiled brown rice?
Are you using store bought brown rice?
Subscribed. Super helpful!!! 👏 thank you!
Can you eat germinated raw rice on salads and such like other sprouts?
How much water would be needed to perform this sprouting? Especially draining ang rinsing each time?
How does it taste?
Can this be with other types/colors of rice?
If I bought brown rice right now, how long would it take for me to process and cook just to serve my family?
I'm in love
You like perfection ugh?
1. If you don't use the soaking water to cook it, it may lose its nutrients w/ it?
2. How about cooking it w/ the soaked water?
So you sucessfully sprouted, milled dehusked brown rice within 2 days? Wow!
So does fetic acid get released and is thus reduced during the sprouting process?
I used to sprout grains so easily before but when i moved to Sweden, only 20% of the grains in the jar were sprouted and the rest are dead. Even organic grains. Why is that? Can you give me any ideas please? Thank you
Possibly different water supply, if you are using tap water try running it through a filter first.
Well done.
does this reduce arsenic?
Thank you, very helpful!
We need lots of germans here in the USA.
Thanks ma'am
What is the purpose of the sprouting lid or cheese cloth? Why can't you just you a metal strainer?
you can fill and drain in one container with the lids as opposed to just draining with the strainer.
my br rice is not sprouting where do u buy yours? i heard only fresh br rice works do u have any knowledge about this? i have been able to sprout rye and other grains like buckwheat and spelt and soft wheat and kumut no luck with millet however or quinoa i rinse three times a day and i have a sprouting lid i even try to put a dark towel over them to keep them away from light
so it takes 3 days just to eat the rice?
I'll keep the soaked water to make soy yogurt
i've only very recently found out about sprouted rice and i tried to sprout some of my red cargo rice at home, but they didn't germinate at all even after 3 days. are there any specific types of rice that can or cannot be sprouted?

Just drain the water out. Just pour it slowly. No need for cheese cloths. Just drain.
Wait so we soak it over night? and then rinse out the rice a few times?
Yes
goddessOfLove. Does it work? most people say your supposed to leave the water in and soak. The women pored the water out.

** please do NOT invert mason jar with no airflow. Bad bacteria will breed if you do. Instead, leave on the side with cheese cloth side clear. Cheers**
