With the help of your videos, I learned fingerpicking and this song in just a few hours! To think that I made excuses not to acquire this skill for so long...thank you!
I'm game for anything fingerpicked! Your instructions are always clear, to the point and easy to follow. Showing each chord box and the camera work for the close up of your picking hand is very helpful. How about some James Taylor - Copperline, Frozen Man . . . - ?
Thank you so much I’m playing this for my guitar test and I didn’t know the finger style you were so good at teaching I’m playing so good thanks to much your a really good teacher
Hi. I am from New Zealand, way down under and just beginning to do fingerpicking. Loving your videos, and wondered if you have a clip on how to fingerpick St Louis Blues. Thankyou so much. Aroha 😍Judi
Hi Jamie, thanks for the lesson, its good to see a different version of this song. Would it be possible for you to do a finger picking version of Mary Gauthier's Mercy now. I have been trying to work out the finger pattern. But without success. Many thanks Barrie.
Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think enough people know this one. Lovely song. I think she's playing a Travis pick. B321B321 would also work. I teach Travis picking here: ua-cam.com/video/1_z4wHYXBbQ/v-deo.html
Hi Jaime im one of your subscriber and i have a problem of strumming..can i use fingerpicking for any songs? and i think this is much better for me because strumming is so hard to learn..Thank you and more power...
Hi Jamie, I really enjoy your instructive videos. I'm an aging beginner fumbling through the chords. My nemesis are the G and F chords. The E string on the G chord is hard for me to be right on with and the F chord with the bar on the B and E strings are a struggle. Any recommendations?
Glad you're enjoying my videos. Please subscribe if you haven't already. Without seeing you personally I'll say it's probably just that you need more practice. If you're a beginner, stay away from the F barre chord. In this video I explore the F: ua-cam.com/video/anEYTnK13Jo/v-deo.html
Hi Jamie this is Henri from the UK and thank you for showing me how to fingerpick. The house of the rising sun takes me back to teens and am definately going to learn it, as a beginer it may take awhile. Would you happen to have Neil Diamond I am I said fingerpick style ?? Once again Many Thanks Henri
Hi Jamie: Arthritis Jan here: can you please tell me the difference between a tenor and soprano ukulele? Hubby bought me a guitar for Mother’s Day. I’m still plucking away, but may have to try ukulele as my forefinger and others don’t bend well. Thanks Jamie. Love your videos. I’m learning a lot! Janice
Glad my videos are helping you. A ukulele will be easier on your fingers. A soprano is the smallest ukulele. Tenors are a little larger. Some find them easier to play.
Thank you, just learning guitar and now I'm curious why do you use the em if you don't pluck those strings? I'm sure there is a reason but never seen that before.
@@JamieAndersonMusic Thanks you very much, I thought as much. As a lefty, learning from right handed people is so much easy, like watching a mirror. Learning the Travis Picking is a fun nightmare, the thumb slams on the breaks the moment you go to include the other digits. never saw that coming.
You're welcome. I was just putting together a list of songs to record and "Redemption Song" was one of them. It may be a few weeks before it's uploaded so please be patient.
Hi! I’m a guitar noob, I’m confused with base note and picking on EM- with none of the strings of Em being picked what is the point of this chord? Would love an answer 🙃
Hi Jason, the picking pattern that Jamie is teaching for this song does not use the 5th string, even though it is part of the Em chord. As Jamie points out in her reply, the 5th string will still ring out as it vibrates slightly (sympathetic) due to the vibration of the 6th string when it is plucked. One of the best things about fingerpicking is that you get to play chords (by plucking individual strings) using different patterns that sound good for different songs. Later on in your guitar journey, you will learn picking patterns that do use both the 5th and 6th strings for the Em chord. So remember the 3Ps, Patience, Perseverance, and PRACTICE! Good luck!!!

Jamie your good and make it look so easy to me house of the rising sun is like a Gospel song of someone who messed their life up I made a mess of mine
Jamie miss your tutorials 😢I still go to the older ones .❤
Thank you. There's a lot of them there -- that should keep you busy. 😊😊

I love James Taylor. I'll add a couple of his songs to my list. It's a long list. :)
Thank you Jamie for this video !

The fingerpick sounds like nothing else matters
The chords matter, too. Not sure what you mean.
@@JamieAndersonMusic I meant "nothing else matters" by Metallica 😝

Interesting. Most people find strumming easier. You can use fingerpicking for most songs but it won't always have enough energy for upbeat songs.

Your guitar sounds great Jamie !👍what is it ?
Thanks, Ahmed. It's a Guild D-50.
Hello could you play hotel California by the eagles fingerstyle chord by chord string by string lol thanks a lot
Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi Jamie. As I’m sure you know the chords for this song are usually E, Am, D, C and F.
I’m curious to know why you have chosen to change this?
It's in a different key.
