- TalkTV’s James Max has clashed with the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union general secretary Mick Lynch over the rail strikes.
RMT members employed by train operators across England walked out in a long-running dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.
Train services have been disrupted by the action, which comes almost a year after the RMT held its first strike in the same dispute.
James tells Mick that he “won’t be supporting” strike action by rail workers.
“If your members were prepared to change and adapt with technology, great.”
Mick replies: “We are prepared. We’re not riding round on steam trains.”

Why do working class people in favour of privatisation like paying out billions more in subsidies to private companies than was ever paid out for a nationalised industry and relish paying more for fares for an even more abysmal service? I don’t get it. 🤷♀️
For the same reason they bought their social houses and sold them on for a fat profit. They were offered shares in the newly privatised industry, bought the shares, followed by selling them immediately for (again) a fat profit. The UK so-called working class are a bunch of sponging, money-grabbing, chancers. They care nothing for the future, meaning their own children. All they care about is themselves and how much cash they can grab.

... because the railways aren't profiteering, they can't affird to being the proces down because the staff want to be paid so much, that's what's driving the prices up. Businesses needs to make profits as well when they can, so they can buy new products in this instance new trains, new carriages, where do you and Mick expect companies to get the money from to pay staff who want more money than they're worth, and rail stock? Thin air? Some magic money tree?

Do you know what contracts this guy wants to keep? If a staff member is on a break and manager talks to them, their break starts again. They have fifteen minutes to walk from A to B even if it takes 2 mins, so they take that 15 mins. This is called Spanish working.

Train guards are on trains. That's part of the reason they are on strike. The rail operators want them made redundant.
Indeed, on some trains (Docklands light Railway that runs through central London) there are no security guards, not even a driver. They are fully autonomous, have been for 20years.

News channels are there to ask questions and report the news so we as viewers can form our own opinions based on facts.

Trains NEED drivers , security staff for the times that assholes board trains , people need assistance , wheel chair users ETC !!! Stuff buying a ticket on line , make use of the human element that can answer a question . A computer cannot . The government do NOT like the public , ditto !!
The Victoria Line has never needed a driver. the unions insist that a driver sits in the cab. It has run since the 1960's.

I think Mick is spot on here regarding why the passengers want staff around.
I’m a passenger, I want to feel safe when using the train and I feel safer when the station has a staff member present.
I live next to one a the busiest branch stations in Birmingham, I see the staff members interacting with people who need assistance, interacting with the passengers in a social way and challenging anti-social behaviour. All the things that make for a safer and more enjoyable experience. What’s not to like?
As ever this interviewer, like many before, is chopped off at the knees, as he attempts to be a match for the Mick Lynch.!

Another host spouting conservative party HQ talking points falls to pieces when confronted with facts. The end of the interview is particularly good. Tories can aquander cash on the Truss budget, give covid contracts to their mates and are all too eager to help oil barons and the ultra wealthy, but when regular workers ask for wages to remain the same as a few years ago, it's 'I'm sorry, we don't have the money'.
Furlough scheme? Billions into the railways during the pandemic and no state employee lost a penny.

James Max : you don’t even negotiate your pay your agent does. Questions put in front of you and just ask them. I work on the railway, been spat on and physically assaulted, verbally abused every week, every Month, Every Year, Mick is right, Crime is on the up not the down. Over stretched British Transport Police never in sight. Remember the London Bombings, who was first on sight when those bombs went off on the trains.
