The equestrian side of UA-cam; where people who have no education about horses, have never handled horses, have never sat on a horse let alone ridden one judge other people with more knowledge than them on their riding and knowledge.
But these horses are BRED for cross country, and I KNOW on experience that they do try! So for all of you that say they shouldn't do cross country, SHHHB😂
Hi, Thanks for the interest, unfortunately we have plans for a new video/dvd so I don't want any used on other videos, and we pais a lot of money to attend and film at these events. We have in the past sold use of 1 or 2 clips and would be able to supply original footage on this basis. if this interests you please contact direct via our website, just search total recall videos
Hey... Can I use some of this falls :)? I Need it for the 4th Part of a fail Video :) please answer this comment :) thanks and Good Video ;)! Sure i will send you the finished Video and put your nam ein the discribtion ;)
Most people have read my comment wrong. It means that he was whipping the horse a lot in such a short time. The crop doesn't hurt the horse in any way,and if it does,it's being illy used. But using the crop so much in such a short time doesn't help the horse more than using the crop a few times.
I don't agree. A horse follow his leader, the leader is responsible for his safety & comfort. I'm riding my horses when they are ready for, and mostly the're going to tell it to me ...
XC is dangerous and a lot of horses deny these jumps. those obstacles don't come down if the horse hits it like normal horse show jumping in show jumping the obstacles come down. here they wont horses get badly injured if it goes wrong
+Marit I think a good handful of those jumps have that old safety system with the rope so they do fall down when hit, but so they don't roll away. Not the best, they have changed the system now to these weird cup things, designed to almost completely collapse the fence when knocked. I suppose its the risk you run when doing XC, im hoping to have a go in a few years, I think it takes a lot of learning how to shorten and lengthen your strides and keep your balance up and down over drop fences and such, a lot of riders don't understand the concept of sit back on drops to help keep the weight on the hind legs when landing.
+BlackMountain150 I really have nothing against the sport itself True horsemanship is beautiful But there is also people riding who are no good. And with that l mean they are bad towards their horses Most jumps even in XC are changing for more safety. But still 75% are still very dangerous and will not come down The horse will fall including rider as well And l personally think Of course an accident could happen in any second But some things can be avoided At show jumping the jumps will fall down completely. In most parts of XC and certain other jumps It does not.. No one of course wants themselves or their horse to be hurt. I love riding too. It is amazing. Just as long as people treat their animals good. Because some really don't Even though that has to do a little bit with my comment they should make it as safe as possible of course it could happen anywhere anytime by accident too That's the sad part :(
Marit Yes I agree, some riders can be really bad to their horses, I hope for the future we will design jumps that will move. I suppose brush fences cant go any further forward, but poled ones are getting there slowly but surely. I am sure I have heard that somewhere they are putting forward pressure to change the rules in XC with bits and tack. they are supposed to be free ranged to allow them to maintain control, but they use some really harsh combinations. Hopefully in the future it will all be changed.
Got to agree with Ashley Bonner. These horses and riders live for this. Yes there are injuries to riders and horses sometimes BUT anyone involved in any sport risks injury. These are well trained, professional horses and riders. They are athletes who spend long hours training to be able to participate in a sport. My hat is off in salute to all the horses and riders shown.
It is unfortunate people occasionally have falls! but for people saying its cruel to horses, mine certainly loves it! he practically prances into the starting box hes just so excited to start!! these horses love what they do, and if they didn't, the horses would damn right refuse to do it!
Those poor horses... they don't deserve to be ruined by those stupid cross country jumps. They are not meant to jump thousands of jumps. And this video is definitely not funny. I'm glad those riders fell off they deserve it, poor horses though. If I could I would buy them all so they don't get ruined.
I agree, but my question is, how do you train that? When you know you're going to fall, most people's reaction is to clench EVERYTHING, not just the fingers over the reins. It would take a lot of falling off while concentrating on releasing the reins to un-train that instinct, and it would have to be falling on purpose, since most people I know aren't very logical in that 1/2 a second before you go flying.
Keyword: Most people. Not everyone clenches the reins when falling. When I fall I immeaditely let go of everything because I know I could get stuck or fall even worse. Not everyone’s first instict is to grab onto the reins
Typical "horse lover" comment. These horses are usually very well cared for. Also, as seen in the end of the video, all of those horses and riders were okay. None of them got "ruined" by the jumps. Yes, some horses get hurt sometimes, but they also get hurt running around in paddocks and just being themselves. They wouldn't do it if they didn't want to. As much as you might disagree, you cannot physically force a half ton animal over a hurdle just by telling him. A horse person should know that.
yes but the point is is that u hold on to the reins so the horse doesnt run off especially in a competition where u have more then one horse on the corse cuz it can make more accidents i can see your point tho
I highly believe that riders should let go of the reins when falling. Many times, they hold on and it yanks the horse's mouth. Yes,I know that when about to fall you try to stay on by using the reins. But,really, riders should be trained to release the reins when they know there is no possible way to stay on. Xx
yes but when you have the shock of falling you immediate thought isnt "i must let go of the reins" because riders dont think of that when they are falling from 6ft high ging 35mph and lading on a solid obstacle
Like you said though, you ride your horses at the level they are ready for. I think Sarah's point was that, if your horses were not ready for it, and they really did not want to do it, there is no way of physically making it even attempt to jump. They are flight animals, if they do not feel comfortable with something they will not face it.
have u ever thought that in that 0.7 second time people dont let go because its an instinct. its like you falling from a building, ur gonna try and grab something you wont just let go🤣
To be honest, almost every eventer I've ever known LIVES to go cross country. I knew a horse that would throw fits if he was made to ride flatwork in a big open field, his rewards for performing his dressage movements were to go for a little gallop or hop over a fence at speed! Then back to dressage. Video was super fun to watch. For all the nay-sayers, ride a real cross country horse and you know they'd never have any fun under saddle unless they were doing that :] (Same for racehorses, too)
To see, something has indeed what. I'm already like, six or seven times, then the net but it's always funny to see when other riders plunge even at a (small) denial of the jump. What I do sometimes ... brutally find is when the tabs at the reins of the horse and try to hold on to it again to pull up ... it must be painful for the horse's mouth! Well, greetings from me;)
Very true. But, from my own experience, you don't always think that much when you are about to fall off. The only thing going through my mind is "HELLHELLHELLHELL!" ;)
most riders are trying to hang onto the horse so it won't go running loose. and many are able to accomplish that. one doesn't want a loose horse that may get hurt or cause someone else to get hurt.
They wouldn't panic in the first place if the rider didn't put them in a risky situation. They panic even more if they are pulled from the reins and then get loose. And if the horse isn't in a total flight mode and running in panic, it's going to figure out it's got loose reins dangling around it's feet. Horses are smart.
Rule of thumb: give plenty of room in front of jumps for other riders or else shout "RIDERS, MAKE WAY" as you ride up to a jump with riders on the other side. I'm an annoyance out on hacks because I point out anything from squirrels to puddles to my fellows ;)
I really want to do cross-country riding but i always see these videos and i'm just like LOL NOPE. and then later i'm like lets go cross-country riding yay!
Not saying anything bad about the riders but I think it's pretty sad when the horse knows their rider fell off and they keep going. You would think that the horse would stop. Obviously they don't have a very bond.
they do know I ride too so I know but this kind of thing doesn't happened everyday to you and tbh when you have a really good moment it is like the best thing which has ever happend
Weird water obstacle where the horse lands almost flat footed front and rear. That's really jarring for horse and rider. Almost knocked my back fillings out watching it.
I just want to say, yes i am a horseback rider and i know that if u buy all the horses and not make them do any work then they are going to get sick (when horses dont get enough exercise there blood runs slower increasing the chance of them cathing any illneses by almost 50% percent plus they start getting cramps and leg aches from lack of exercise so tecknecly if people start doing horseback riding your way more horses would die just by... living then by cross country jumping.
Well sure. In their pastures, with their herd. When one horse sees a bird fly off the ground and spooks, all the horses start running. Basic herd behaviour. But on the track, the horse is at least supposed to trust the rider and if the rider takes to horse to a risky situation, and I'm talking what the horse sees risky, not the rider, it's probably going to panic without proper guidance. And yanking on the reins is not proper guidance.
The equestrian side of UA-cam; where people who have no education about horses, have never handled horses, have never sat on a horse let alone ridden one judge other people with more knowledge than them on their riding and knowledge.
IKR I am a shit rider.... To admit
I have my own pony I'm not hating on another of these riders we all have days we fall it'd nones fault
Pretty much all young girls who only know the anatomy of plastic horses 😂
Someone finally understands
Callum Robinson THANKGOD! some one who finally understands my pain in reading the comments section.
Is it bad I only get worried when the horse falls too??
xXkeep jumpingXx no I do as well
xXkeep jumpingXx oh no, I also do this😂
Berit Smith nope I do too
Berit Smith nope they look so fragile when they fall idk why
I feel so sorry for the horses in some of these clips
I hope the riders and the horses were okay after the accident! :o
It's really bad to fall from a horse, but I think It's even worse when the horse falls too
;)
Lydia Wintertree yeah, Ive tried that before :/ its not fun!
All riders fall at least 1
I feel so bad for the fourth girl! It looked like the horse was walking on her 😭😭 Hope she's well❤
Crosscountry can be REALLY dangerous if you don't have enough control, and balance in you and your horse.
Very true. I know of an eventing horse who competes adavanced that broke its leg in the pasture.
But these horses are BRED for cross country, and I KNOW on experience that they do try! So for all of you that say they shouldn't do cross country, SHHHB😂
0:41 Horse: No hooman you jump it Human: FOR GODS SAKE
Poor horses! ! ! ! !
the horses do the best they can. the humans don't accept that.
A HORSE IS A HORSE , NOT A MACHINE WHAT DOES EVERYTHING GOOD.
Kirsten Gorter no one said humans don't accept that
Actually, some horses do panic at petty unrisky things quite often.

That is not your first thought if you fall from your horse.. It's more like "Oh shiii..!!"
WALKED AWAY MORE LIKE HOBBLED WITH A FRACTURED ANKLE!!
sian usher you can't say that? Did you see them wobble? No did you see them in pain after the falls? No
were any of these horses hurt?
if youre pretending to know about horses you clearly dont. do some research
Dang that last on the horse didn't even get phased it just pushed down the other one like it was nothin' O-O
I'm sorry but 1:03 got me the most 😂😂 just stepping off a edge 'OHHHHH THERES WATER HERE'
How do some of these horse not break legs!?
Hey... Can I use some of this falls :)? I Need it for the 4th Part of a fail Video :) please answer this comment :) thanks and Good Video ;)! Sure i will send you the finished Video and put your nam ein the discribtion ;)

This isn't funny! The Horses should be loved, don't crashed to a jump!
I laughed so hard at the last fall, The horse is just like "out of my way bit**!!" haha :')

Horse at 0:15 was like ''Wtf? OH! He/she felled off! I can goo!'' xD

these horses are just been polite.
they stop and let you go first!
how nice ;) haha!
Arme pferde!
Poor horses!
horse riding is just like crossing roads because the ground is lava and you're trying not to fall XD
auuutsch !!!! the horse thers in the water jump is funny :D
i just feel sorry for the horses
Poor horses >:(

Woah that was just scary with all the falls in the water

The last Clip!! OMG
but good falls ;DD
oh man that last one is the scariest DX man to be knocked over by another horse I would be like limping around yelling Is my HORSE okay?
some naughty horses, some unprepared riders, but also some good saves!!!
It’s mind boggling that some people just don’t let go of the reins when they fall.. it can not only hurt the rider, but the horse too
have u ever thought that in that 0.7 second time people dont let go because its an instinct. its like you falling from a building, ur gonna try and grab something you wont just let go🤣

Just watched this and I'm in this video!
Last clip!!! :DGood video!
The rider didn't MAKE the horse jump too early. The rider wasn't prepared for him to decide that himself.
less thrills and spills, more spills
I cant believe the last video. I mean where were you? In lala land or some thing?
in the last jump the horses crash?
0:25 best moment XD
To see, something has indeed what. I'm already like, six or seven times, then the net but it's always funny to see when other riders plunge even at a (small) denial of the jump.

wow nice video!
1:02 you could tell he/she was a cocky horse who thought it knew best going into water;)
I don't remember ever claiming that I was. And may I ask why are you criticizing me if it's such an unacceptable thing?
is 0:05 at aston le walls?
0:43 they stopped just before the water! xD
This video makes me wonder why I didn't pick a less dangerous sport... Some of these fall-offs must have hurt A LOT! For both riders and horses.
Well they hold the reins because other way the horse will run away and can hurt itself or run away or idk...
most riders are trying to hang onto the horse so it won't go running loose. and many are able to accomplish that. one doesn't want a loose horse that may get hurt or cause someone else to get hurt.

omg the car was it supposed to be there???
I really want to do cross-country riding but i always see these videos and i'm just like LOL NOPE. and then later i'm like lets go cross-country riding yay!

sorry i dont give permission for any footage to be used

I only felt bad for the horses when they fell
I really think that people are expecting waaay to much of their horse. Some horses have to be lucky that they didn't break a leg or something..
Mean people. They don't really know what horses are about. They are ment to be loved and cared for.
0:29 is insane
0.36 *walking along and turn around* well that's another one off......
*It was the guy cantering across in front of the jump.
1:23 anybody knows what that saddle can be?
Every time I've ever gotten itno an accident I think one think
"fuck...!"
The one at 0:13 looks terrible! I feel so bad for them (horse+rider). The rider seemed to be underneath the horse at some point and the horses neck :(
I think the water jumps and the jumps with a deep hole/gutter in front are to dangers. a horse or rider could be seriously injured.
hehe, i mostly do, sometimes not, but i always have that i get paralyzed xD
equestrians be like : is the horse ok
Well duh exactly!
At the end the person ran into another horse. People need to watch out

You mean, drive a car? Or drive the horse
Cause that last fall was pretty stupid if you ask me
