I just got into the hobby about 8 mos ago and bought the Hanna tester due to ease of use. Relied on it as my only measure for months and months. Took a sample to LFS for testing and they had my salinity at 1.029! The Hanna read 1.026 on every reading I took and still does. Even after recalibration it's off by a few percent. I use only a manual refractometer now.
That is why I recommend the Precision Hydrometer to everyone. It is not easy or fast to use, but you can use it to make standards or double check your refractometer
