I ended up with the right CB as a WCB on Support, middle defender as a BPD on cover, and the left CB as a WCB on Defend. Dear DLP, thank you for the meaningful content. I am not an expert on this game like you but day by day I realized the tactics are only 20 percent of success. Most of the achievements are depending on quality of players playing together. Are you planning to create a new concept of introducing importance of corner kicks and core player attributes to creating more goal chances? Free kick set pieces, wing play, 2 on 1, etc…?
Love the new background, and also now i've been using clean slate alot because of you man. Quick question, do you use player instructions for the regista or not at all?
Glad you like the new background! And for the sake of this video, I didn't use any player instructions. But in my own saves, I like to use them to tell my player to do what they're good at more. So if he's a good dribbler, I'll set a PI to tell him to dribble more. If he has good long shots, Shoot More Often, things like that
I play 3511 with two Libero's that push up either side of the Defensive Midfielder. The Central Defender then acts as a sweeper. I also use two Segundo Volante on attack that push up into the channels either side of the Attacking Midfielder on support. I have a Poacher up top. Two Defensive Wingers pin the opposition wing backs. In attack it plays as a 1315 like Bologna under Thiago Motta.
@@piersonjamesa I use a plain Defensive Midfielder and tweak his player instructions. You can also use Central Midfielders on attack instead of Segundo Volante's on attack. You can also use an Enganche for the Attacking Midfielder role if he has the right attributes. He links up really well with the Segundo Volante's or Central Midfielders pushing forward.
This a mystery. I joined a challenge on The Managers Seat Discord. Lens played the best in Europe all the time. Very hard challenge. But I created a tactic that was very close to this. Another set of roles in Midfield. And a lot of team instructions. I did good. Some real scalps. Real Madrid 2-1 come to mind. This formation is hard for the game. I did suprise me. So.. seeing your video was like.. but... but... what IS he doing? Great Stuff.
I was eyeballing with a 352 for ages but always found that having 3 cbs is kind of boring, skillset wise. I was also always somehwat afraid of wide cbs leaving their position too much leaving me exposed if theyre not on defensive duty. tried your tactic with one on s and one a and its simply beautiful. they really do well knowing when to go up the field and when to stay back (1/2 opp. Strikers) and get involved into EVERYTHING from build-up to chance creation to even scoring. Its often having another >190cm guy in or close to the box for crosses as well. Generelly prefer tall players and its just working so well against the teams im supposed to stomp (doing a build a nation) and also the CL-Teams that are way better than me. The WB on d is doing very well indeed with early crosses, offers a lot more def. stability on his wing. Just slight tweaks make it go from possession-recycling and dominating to a solid defensive counter attack tactic. Never would have though such a defensive shape could be so much fun, id even go so far to call it my favorite tactic. Really cant see 4231 and 433 anymore after all these years. Btw, I also got a CL-Playoff caliber finish (my nation) left wb regen in my second year while having the worst of coaches and facilities. Came out of the "academy" as a 4,5* lol, didnt even want to leave after 4 years yet. Will try to marry him to my daughter to keep him at my club. Thanks for making my long-term safe way more fun even than expected!
this is an amazing story, thank you so much for sharing!! Love reading these success stories. I have a lot of favorite roles, but there's something about the Wide Center Back (and by extension, the Libero) moving up and helping your attack. There just so dynamic and create so many mismatches for defenses. And the WB(D) is underrated as well. Usually it's just put them on attack and go, but on Defend they'll still cross, but it also the WCB to get more involved knowing you've got cover on that side
What difference would it make to your tactic if you switched the AF/DLF? My first instinct is to put the DLF on the left so he can help set up balls for the Mezala behind him and the AF. Or does this type of positioning not make as much of a difference? Great video as always!
Yea you can totally switch them :) That's just a tactical preference on how I've liked to set up my strikers recently. And it does make a difference, but more in how you'd like them to play, not necessarily "this is better" kinda thing
Probably replace the mezzala with the Cm (d) in that case. Thanks. Ran a few matches in my lower league save with it and it works beautifully. So much space and interplay between all stages of the pitch.
Your content is just so relaxing and informative to watch, hope that everybody here is having a fine end to 2024 like I am. Remember. Nobody is alone. Let's spread positivity
no problem :) that could be an issue for sure. but on support, the WB is going to sit a little deeper out wide. And the WCB will get forward, but think of it like a slice. His starting position is towards the center and then goes out wide, underlapping the WB. He'll then get towards the byline while the WB still sits deeper. You can even put the WB on defend to further encourage this movement. But you're right definitely. There's always a risk of players occupying the same space, especially with low team cohesion. I love the synergy with the WCB and WB, so I don't mind that the can sometimes get in each other's way. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment! :)
Love the vid. I personally love 3atb formations and try to incorporate them as much as I can. If I have two very attack-minded WBs, is it okay to have them both be WB(A) and shift more of the defensive responsibility to the midfielders? Or does two WB(A) simply leave too much open space on the flanks?
For sure. With Wing Backs, you're not changing what they're doing defensively, just changing where they're going to be in your attack. A WB(A) will be more susceptible to a counter attack, so like you say a more defensively solid midfield would help mitigate a lot of this risk. They will look to get to the byline more often and cross, which may bypass some of your midfield, but if you're looking to incorporate more wing play into your tactic, two WB(A) would be totally fine
Nice video as always! I'm using a similar formation with some changes... CD (WCB - De/CD - Co/WCB - Su) LWB - Su RWB - At DM (DLP - Su) MCL (BBM) MCR (MEZ - At) And the striker duo is AF + TF I'm looking for a counter attack tactic because I'm an underdog in my League. Any change or suggestions? Sometimes I change the BBM to a BWM with the instruction to Stay wider and advance more to recover the Ball and give that to the wing back so he can cross..
wow that is pretty close! I would say if you wanted to focus on a counter, you could drop the engagement line to "lower". Invite some pressure and then use More Direct Passing to get it up the field quicker. I may try a CM(A) as well, they may be a bit more aggressive for that counter attack as well. But it looks really good!!
A bit off topic, but seeing Inter or teams like ManU used as examples always makes me consider how managing top clubs seems to be very different to managing in weaker leagues. I never tried premier league, and it looks like it needs a very different approach. Even my Napoli (to which I clawed my way up from amateur level) is more about players I have, I can keep from going to England, Arabia or top competitors (Milan, Inter, Juve), and I'm able to sign before others do.
it is different for sure. You do have to worry about other top clubs poaching your players (like Madrid or PSG), but you have more sway when you're at the top as well
Amazing video! I always used a 3 CB tactic and at the moment I'm using a veri similar 3.5.2 with 2 wingbacks on attack and wide center-back on def and support duty and it's going really well. I'm just finding difficult to switch to a 3.4.3 or a 3.4.2.1 formation, finding difficult times binding defenders and attackers. Any suggestion? I really would love to replicate something similar to Gasperini's Atalanta!
The Wide Center Backs, especially if they're on attack, will get forward more (like, into the penalty box), so switching one of your WCB to attack could give you some more interchange with the more forward players. You could have a striker drop deep too, like the DLF or F9
I find 10 yrs in the future you have a tough time with some player roles, lots of newgens with wb_d, iwb_d, wcb_d, am/ap, dlp, AF and Wingers. what kind of tactic would you create from these player roles?
You used a lot of attacking/roaming roles in your midfield and defense. Am I correct it thinking that 1) this is to make up for the naturally defensive initial positions? and 2) this set of roles can still be defensively solid because of those initial positions?
yep! You're right on. The only other key point is that Inter has the players for it as well. For example, I've done some tactics with Monaco and while I didn't really have a Regista in the squad, I focused on a strong midfield, using roles like the Central Midfielder and Box to Box Midfielder. Same idea, strong defensive formation, but using player roles that the squad has.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Cool, thanks for the response! You make the tactics of the game make a lot of sense. One thing you've really nailed down for me is starting simpler with a clean slate, appropriate roles, and making minor tweaks is one of the best ways to get a team that fits your players and performs well. It's exactly how I operate at work, now I just need the patience!
I'd probably use shorter passing, higher tempo for some in possession instructions. And then maybe a high press if I'm playing a lower team, and a medium/low block if I'm doing a tough away match.
Hello! I would like to make regista the "heart" of my team Although I usually pick very good players, they always seem to underperform Especially when it comes to assisting and match rating overall in this particular formation. How can I force my team to not rely solely on wingbacks and focus the play through the middle? Thanks in advance!
The thing with the Regista (or DLP for that matter) is it can be easy to bypass him. So a couple of questions for ya! What kind of formation and what other player roles are you using? Some player roles may be overlooking the Regista (a Ball Playing Defender, for example, wants to boot it up the field. he may be missing the Regista). Or if you have another playmaker in the formation, your team may be conflicted about who to pass to. And Wing Backs looooove to dribble the ball, so you could try moving them to full backs (if using a back 4). If not, you could encourage them to dribble less with a team instruction, or use a WB(S) or WB(D). Finally, you can look at some of the Regista passing charts. See if he's getting some "hockey assists", meaning maybe not the actual assists, but still a key contributor to the goal.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker I think that having 3 BPD might be a slight issue in my tactic.😂 Thank You! Edit: My Ousmane Diomande has 17 passing 17 vision and 15 dribbling Literally a monster He also likes to play long balls, he is the "issue" behind Regista not participating in build-up it seems.
I love the two Libero ideas... definitely going to have to try that!!
HELL YEAH NEW VİDEO
I love it!!
very interesting. thanks
no problem!
So underrated
thanks!!
Great Stuff.
thanks!! This is such a useful formation; love that you can adapt it to so many different play styles
I'm waiting for Deep Lyng Playmaker talking about the deep lyng playmaker
We're running out of player roles, so it won't be too much longer now!
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker and another thing you sholud is a career, even short, but please, do a career
This is great!! i have an idea. How about a tactic that's focused on creating long shots?
ooo I like that idea.. that would be a fun tactic to try and make
What difference would it make to your tactic if you switched the AF/DLF? My first instinct is to put the DLF on the left so he can help set up balls for the Mezala behind him and the AF. Or does this type of positioning not make as much of a difference?
Great video as always!
Yea you can totally switch them :) That's just a tactical preference on how I've liked to set up my strikers recently. And it does make a difference, but more in how you'd like them to play, not necessarily "this is better" kinda thing
Great video. Love a 3 at the back tactic. Never used carerrilos before. Could this work with an AMC replacing the DM?
yep! I'd use probably a CM(D) in the midfield to provide cover, but a lot of the same principles would work :)
Probably replace the mezzala with the Cm (d) in that case. Thanks. Ran a few matches in my lower league save with it and it works beautifully. So much space and interplay between all stages of the pitch.
Need a collab with Stinger
Your content is just so relaxing and informative to watch, hope that everybody here is having a fine end to 2024 like I am. Remember. Nobody is alone. Let's spread positivity
absolutely!! and I try to make the videos relaxed... A nice, chill way to spend 12 minutes :)
Hey, thanks for great video. Are you not concerned that the WCB on attack and Wingback on support are occupying the same space?
no problem :) that could be an issue for sure. but on support, the WB is going to sit a little deeper out wide.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Cheers mate, thanks for the explanation.
Good video! Which team mentality and lines of engagement and defense do you advice for a 3-5-2?
If you want to do a counter, I would say a mid block with low press, and if you want a possession then high line and normal or high press
CD (WCB - De/CD - Co/WCB - Su)
LWB - Su
RWB - At
DM (DLP - Su)
MCL (BBM)
MCR (MEZ - At)
And the striker duo is AF + TF
I'm looking for a counter attack tactic because I'm an underdog in my League.
You do have to worry about other top clubs poaching your players (like Madrid or PSG), but you have more sway when you're at the top as well
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker it makes you adapt your style every round, if not every few games.
really good video. can you do these for team instructions?
I hope to get more into team instructions and how they work. Thank you for the suggestion :)
New background, new cap!
that's a lot of new in one video lol
Can you guide me when and how to set the opposition instruction? Thank you very much
I hope to get a video out on opposition instructions! thank you for the suggestion 🙂
The new set might have to be here to stay 🙂↕️
thanks!! I kinda like it too... it's a bit of a shock to see it though lol. I'm so used to the other one
new setup I see
yep; had to change it up a little bit. I kinda like it!
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker yes me too
I find 10 yrs in the future you have a tough time with some player roles, lots of newgens with wb_d, iwb_d, wcb_d, am/ap, dlp, AF and Wingers. what kind of tactic would you create from these player roles?
hmmm... maybe the traditional 442? But use two DM to give you more protection in the midfield
He is named The Deep Lying Playmaker, but he is actually The Roaming Spacemaker :)))
haha I love the nickname!!
What were your defensive settings? I know you said no team instructions but what about defensive line etc? And the pressing intensity? And mentality?
Just seen it. Mid block haha. 😂
Nope, no team, player, or opposition instructions. It's au natural haha
For this tactic what would be some simple instructions you would suggest?
I'd probably use shorter passing, higher tempo for some in possession instructions. And then maybe a high press if I'm playing a lower team, and a medium/low block if I'm doing a tough away match.
Hello! I would like to make regista the "heart" of my team
Although I usually pick very good players, they always seem to underperform
Especially when it comes to assisting and match rating overall in this particular formation.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker I think that having 3 BPD might be a slight issue in my tactic.😂
Thank You!
Edit: My Ousmane Diomande has 17 passing 17 vision and 15 dribbling
Literally a monster
He also likes to play long balls, he is the "issue" behind Regista not participating in build-up it seems.
Thank You for opening my eyes
Im still struggling with this formation. Got sack with man utd in the 1st season. Now struggling with Burnley in my 2nd season.
sorry to hear that! what kind of player roles are you using? The 352 is a tricky formation to get to work
@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker still playing around the formation especially in midfield.Bwm in DM, BBM and mezzala in cm.
@@syam2566 Have you tried the Carrilero with the Mezzala? they can often be a good duo together in the center midifeld.
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker alright will try. 👍
Any various choices about middfielders?
The Central Midfielder (A) and Box to Box Midfielder are two others I love to use. Carrilero, Ball Winning Midfielder are solid options as well
allat just for a 4-2-3-1 high press with the attacking mentality to run through it
that's when I switch to a bunch of ball winning midfielders and pressing forwards and take them all out 😆
How would the 352 work with defensive wingers instead of wingbacks?
it would work great! The DW is a good substitute for the WB since they're going to cover your flanks much like a player used in the full back position
Did you use individual player instructions?
Nope, no instructions of any kind
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker i am running a 442 at Juve in my glory hunter with no instructions but a positive mentality. I have a lot of player instructions though.
