Chiaroscuro is an Italian word from the mid-17th century, meaning "clear" (chiaro) and "obscure" (scuro), which, in the 17th century, not only pertained primarily to light and dark, but was also considered in color (a clear or pure color against a more dull or obscure color) and details (sharp, close-up details - clear, against details in shadows - obscured). This practice is mentioned in late 17th c. art manuscripts, which today, the term chiaroscuro has become limited to the understanding of dark and light ~ ~ ~
DaVinci used this technique to render atmospheric realism . With the effect of glazes but it's a difference between that and light and dark. I studied caravaggios work so it's about light and shadow , that is what he's talking about in the video.
Keep teaching these unique techniques! It’s an eye opening education on how the great masters worked. Your accent and humor are great but consider sub titles for us hard of hearing folks. Thank you!
Thanx alot Al, glad it inspires you ! Ahah, yeah, I try to get comfortable with subtitle on UA-cam (I always start with an English script, but speaking clearly is another challenge :p) so no worry for next video :) !
Been searching this kind of channel a year ago for my drawing progression.. and thank God! I found you. Don't stop making these kinds of videos bro. Plss it really helps us teach on our own. "Self thought artists"
Another great video my friend , these are the techniques and masters you cover that was the reason i took up serious study of these arts in addition to my early love for drafting. Your channel looks great and i wish you the best .👌
Hey mannn loved your channel , Please keep uploading with this much information , I'm really looking forward to apply and observe the Chiaroscuro 💙💙💙 Thanks a lot #subscribed
Thanks Avik, the most important is to practice our eyes to see dark / light / dark / light. First on simple object, then on more complex subject. It's a wonderful concept and I hope more artists use it :) !
@@Art-base are you alive? Your videos are godly, I wonder if you will upload more, and could you tell me where to find more of the same information you are sharing?
Hey I just discovered your videos. I don’t know why but I get the sense that you know what you’re talking about unlike other channels, what is your background? Did you go to art school?
Wonderful explanation, ChatGPT could not make it better! GPT does not have a french accent and does not paint himself(although I hear dall-e implementation is almost here)

Actually, "scuro" it doesn't mean "obscure", it means "dark", as was stated in the video. Please look at a dictionary.

Incroyable ! Le ton noir de tes vidéos est super, et le contenu encore plus. Continue comme ça ! Bonne soirée.
Merci beaucoup Slylann, c'est cool que les gens apprécient le ton noir et sobre. C'est par rapport à mon style personnel en art :) !
Sounds like a Disco Elysium dialogue.
Dimana TEKS?
Saya butuh teks agar google bisa menerjemahkannya.
Halo! tersedia teks terjemahan
Hola.Por favor ponga subtítulos en español.
Amazing video! Subtitles would be much appreciated since your accent is pretty heavy haha
Yeah, need to add on this one. Thanx Ayan !
Welcome to Arby's?
I’m lost.
idk man. Caravaggio's works just have a dark background in the entire painting, whether the subject is dark or light.
