D Tech rotators were an interesting concept, but their effectiveness was washed out in the sun. I remember seeing an Illinois State Trooper squad on an accident scene, thinking how useless the rotators were. D Tech bars didn't last long around here.
Is there a name for this general type of item that produces one color through something clear? I know it's D Tech, but what would it be called generically or scientifically? Is something like this available as a sheet of plastic?
Like a filter? The old school clear outer lenses used to have colored filters that could be purchased. I was under the impression that the DTech rotors were unique because of the parabolic shape of the lens versus just a flat cover.
Lighting gel is a colored plastic used in theater to change a light's color. Check out Rosco lighting. Dichroic filters are pieces of glass coated to only allow one color of light through.
Kinda reminds me of the old SHO-ME grille lights. Appeared clear when not in use.
D-Tech is only effective synchronized. at a distance, an unsynced d-tech bar is just a solid purplish line on top of a car
One of those rare cases on a minibar where I think getting rid of the mirror would help.
@@RtCmdr That's not a bad idea, I will play around with it.

@@markdanielczyk944 Yeah, cool idea but not effective.
I would love to slow down my d-tech Excalibur
To me D-Techs need to be as slow as the old sealed beam rotators to be effective.
That sums it up. If you treat them like colored sealed beams under a clear dome they are fine.

I've got some old rotator light bars that I'd like to put some interesting colors in and display.
Dichroic material is the term Code 3 used in the patent
