One of the better hoof trimming videos out there. I had never really thought of hoof trimming in terms of encouraging symmetrical blood profusion in the hoof. Interesting take. Thanks for the upload.
The wall is separating from the foot- especially on the lateral quarter, because you leave too much flare. When the foot is on the stand between 5:00 and 5:30 you can see a growth ring about 1/2- 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the foot. File all of that down so it's flat with the foot above it. You may be temporarily putting the horse's weight just barely to the outside of the white line for a little while, but it will fix the separation issue as it grows back out. ;-)
Wow, that's really impressive work there. I'm surprised how much force you have to use when handling a horse hoof. And I was surprised by the sheer amount of hoof was trimmed.
what about a video about some corrective trimming for elongated hoof due to pinching of the heel. I don't know how to fix that. if you can tell me what to do there
You are great at explaining how to trim a horse properly however like the comment below i think some important things were missed in terms of a visual because the camera person was not focused on the hoof.... Maybe you could do another one :o)
great job id have him do my horses feet any time!thanks for the video.would love to know more .for example the balance. he obviousely knows what he is looking for.and knows his job.P.S. i dont have horses.need to know more before i would take on the responsability
I'd love to see it from the back of the foot! Give video of the bottom looking DOWN to the toe!! Let's look it as though you are holding it up and checking as you go. We need better closer shots of the LEVEL OF THE FOOT! I live be your work just wanna see the full outcome......
+Abbie Lee Wild horses run over rough terrain all day long. They don't need a farrier to trim their hooves because they're on them 24/7 doing what they'd like and moving where they'd like. When we start to keep them in stables and on grass, dirt, and smooth concrete and the like, their hooves grow much more than they would in the wild :)

Mankind was meant to take care of horses isn't it? If no humans were around, the horses' hooves would grow very long without the proper care.
