I too know what it feels like to be woken up at 3am by the smoke detector, when it happens i just take out the battery and fix it in the morning tho, tall man privilege i guess
Ceiling bird strikes yet again.. I'm so used to wearing earplugs to sleep I could probably ignore it, but downside is I can't sleep without them now. the woes of a light sleeper :/
Yep being violently woken up just raises your heart rate and makes you super grumpy. At least that’s what it was like for me being woken up by a screaming child everyday.
I have a wired in smoke detector that starts doing those annoying beeps every time I take a shower. It's right outside the bathroom and it really hates even the slightest amount of steam.
You think the ceiling bird's bad, try out a dodgy late 80s security system's backup battery that was unbeknowst to you has failed and never been checked.
Don't even have to change it. Just pull it out, go back to sleep, then replace it when you get up. If she was thinking she had to find a new battery and all that, that's probably why she didn't want to mess with it. Also, not all, of course, but an alarming number of academics lack common sense and the ability to effectively deal with unexpected scenarios. They're too used to specific, controlled environments.
I surely can’t be the only one that regrets missing this golden opportunity to be a shit and superchat some snarky comment like, “You woulda slept better if you had changed those batteries six months ago as per the manufacturer’s recommendation.” I almost don’t think I could send that after writing it. She’d obviously ban me but I feel like she’d actually seethe over that and it would legit ruin her day. And then next month another one chirps and she’ll immediately think of my superchat and seethe 10 times harder while burning the place to the ground. Jokes should be funny. And she absolutely would not be laughing. She would be so fucking mad 😂
She better tell Jelly to stop smoking in bed.
Who's gonna tell her about all the people who just live with the ceiling bird chirping and don't even notice it?
Pippa or Kirsche type knowledge
👋🏿
A college graduate everyone

"I can sleep through this sound designed to be able to wake me up in an emergency!" I certainly hope you can't
Lumi confirmed not a socioeconomic person.

I'd argue that the downside is dying of smoke inhalation
Or you could buy a battery

Every beep is a surge of anger
It's like chinese water torture but with sound.
There's a Sam Hyde joke I shouldn't make...
When you are allergic to the sun, cant get a tan, and decide to take drastic measures to get some color on your skin.
Babushka sad, me sad 😢

Heh, the clip topic lines up with the outro.
Indeed, quite appropriate!
Just change the battery and go back to sleep. Problem solved. For a member of academia, Lumi's problem solving skills are weirdly limited sometimes.

Lumi is short and has high ceiling, she need a ladder to get to it... She eventually did change the battery, but she had to fight the ladder first...
That's normal for academics. The most clueless people you'll ever meet are academics.
wtf, loomi isn't black???
Lumi is a 40 years old polish femboy
