This is my song of the year... maybe it was last year, but I didn't get until now. Thanks Palehound for making such a moving song on all levels. composition, sonics, heart, words... it's all there and I can't stop playing it.
i just found this song a while ago and it resonates with me as a trans guy, not just bc i have the same name lol, but it really reminds me of the beginning process of transitioning. and even if thats not what the songs about, the lyrics still have that impact on me
Ellen Kempner actually wrote this about her boyfriend who is a trans guy! I'm a trans woman and I literally started sobbing the first time I heard this song lol
@@aaronalejandro1992 For sure! Tbh I'm a sucker for any song with even mildly trans-adjacent themes, so to have a canonically trans song this good I'm v thankful for
LYRICS: Your mother wanted to name you Aaron but her body built you as a different man And my friend if you want me to I’ll call you Aaron I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, Aaron I can You sing your song with your back turned to me, your body’s shaking, voice certain still And if closing my eyes will love you turn around Aaron I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will I will, I will, I will I will, I will, I will I will, I will, I will, I will, Aaron I will And the water’s warm but it still stings your shins when you are wading in And it’s rain that swim my feet so wet, the sweat of our bodies coming and filling it in Your father wanted to take you shopping for something to wear on his wedding day And when I saw you standing there with your shirt tucked in well I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved I caved, I caved, I caved, I caved, Aaron I caved And the water’s warm but it still stings your shins when you are wading in And it’s rain that swim my feet so wet, the sweat of our bodies coming and filling it in You live your life with your back turned to me, your body’s swaying, voice steady in stance And if shutting my mouth will help you turn around Aaron I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, I can I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, I can I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, I can I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, I can I can, I can, I can, I can, I can, I can I can, I can, Aaron I can
This is how you change people's minds. I bet even the most conservative people will change what they think about trans right after hearing something so beautiful.

"i will i will i will i will i will will" part makes me so happy, yet so sad, like falling asleep but you know that the dream is gonna be sad
