A war between Europeans is a civil war. We've come a long way and still got a long way to go. As long as we respect eachothers differences, we can focus on what we have in common.
@@markoshea6833 How does that work? If we didn't respect eachothers differences, there'd be mass separatism within the EU. Catalans want independence from Spain because they feel they are culturally and linguistically different (as well as economic reasons); same for Galicia, Basque; and Flanders where I'm from, where the Flemish have to learn French, yet the Walloons don't - and many other inequalities due to lingual differences like an unequal voting system. Trust me I grew up in that type of environment, I know how it works. Even more, I don't feel like Belgium is a state that should exist, yet I'm pro-European. If you don't respect Europe's diversity, the people of Europe won't respect you; try to then keep them all together. Within the EU it is of utmost importance to preserve European heritage, which includes lingual and cultural diversity. "Historically" these differences weren't always respected, but the historical climate was also completely different.
These guys never heard of Sighisoara, Bucuresti, Timisoara, Sibiu, Deva, Alba Iulia, Iasi, Cluj Napoca, Bran, Constanta just to quickly name a dozen from Romania. Nevermind, Florence, Salzburg, Paris, Viena, Barcelona, Avignon and indeed thousands of others such beautiful places in every corner of Europe. Been in Canada 17 years, I don't mind Vancouver Toronto or Ottawa, but Europe has a charm that I never met yet in Canada or my 30 visits in USA.
There are many many towns that could be on this list and that could replace any of the excising ones. Sighișoara in Romania, Chester in England, Lucca in Italy, Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland. The list could probably be a thousand cities long but Sienna is however a good choice for number one for its size, it’s accessibility and it’s touristy properties. For the best preserved I would go for Sighișoara. Hands down.
The earliest signs of a process leading to sedentary culture can be seen in the Levant to as early as 12,000 BC, when the Natufian culture became sedentary; it evolved into an agricultural society by 10,000 BC.[9] The importance of water to safeguard an abundant and stable food supply, due to favourable conditions for hunting, fishing and gathering resources including cereals, provided an initial wide spectrum economy that triggered the creation of permanent villages.[10] The earliest proto-urban settlements with several thousand inhabitants emerged in the Neolithic. The first cities to house several tens of thousands were Memphis and Uruk, by the 31st century BC (see Historical urban community sizes). Historic times are marked apart from prehistoric times when "records of the past begin to be kept for the benefit of future generations";[11] which may be in written or oral form. If the rise of civilization is taken to coincide with the development of writing out of proto-writing, the Near Eastern Chalcolithic, the transitional period between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age during the 4th millennium BC, and the development of proto-writing in Harappa in the Indus Valley of South Asia around 3300 BC are the earliest incidences, followed by Chinese proto-writing evolving into the oracle bone script, and again by the emergence of Mesoamerican writing systems from about 900 BC.
Kraków (Poland) - the biggest market square in Europe, tones of medieval churches, buildings, military constructions etc. Toruń (Poland) - pearl of Gothic architecture, with medieval ramparts, churches etc., Avignon (France) - the old part completely surrounded by medieval ramparts, with the massive Palace of Popes (or rather anti-popes) and one of the most famous medieval bridges, Sigishoara (Romania) - another pearl of medieval architecture, all perfectly preserved. Your list is definitely missing important entries...
Krakow, Avignon and I had seen Torun as potential places I want to visit in the summer. How long would you recommend in Krakow and Torun? Is it easy to get from Krakow to Torun?
Well, you could mention many more. It is difficult to make a list of 25 when you have hundreds such old towns in Europe. Krakow could be included, but so could 300 more.
You forgot the city of Rhodes, which is one of the largest medieval cities in Europe -and Monemvasia, both of them in Greece and absolutely fantastic! Also there are wonderful medieval cities in Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary etc which are not mentioned here. You should have listed one medieval village from each European country and not 3 villages from countries like Italy or France, so the list would be more complete.
I am also really surprised not to see the castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork Poland which is the largest medieval castle in the world measured by land area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Poland also has well-preserved medieval towns of Torun, Frombork, not to mention bigger cities like Krakow, Wroclaw or Gdansk.
All you see everywhere you look and go is beauty, pictures of the town, medieval attractions, and natural wonders! Every step you'll take in Europe is worth it!
A few of my own favourite towns and cities are Maastricht (my own town!), Monschau, and Nideggen, Bolzano, Perugia, Freiburg, Ancona, Florence (obviously), Zadar, Innsbruck, Rovereto, Merano, Rhodes, Den Bosch... there's just so much to see in my continent, I've really gained a lot of appreciation for traveling around Europe even after seeing a lot of the world. Traveling far has its merits for sure, but there is so much to see in Europe you couldn't do it in a lifetime.. and a lot more sustainable to travel locally by train, bus and ferry if you live here :)
Nice. I would recommend my town Edinburgh Scotland, Vitoria and San Sebastian Basque Country, Malaga Spain, Verona Italy, Durham and Bath England, Antalya Turkey, Kotor Croatia, Salzburg Austria.
so true, there's too much beauty, in every country and of every kind. it's so sad that we can't visit the whole world and some can't even leave their countries
Thanks for the list, a bit disappointed there is no polish cities on this ( it is a really big part of Europe !) But also Vilnius is my grandmother's birth place and she could talk about it for days.
Tallinn has 438 thousands inhabitants, Florence - 383,000. So if Tallinn is on the list (which it definitely deserves), then Florence should also be included.
No way bavaria alsace Poland Ukraine check republic bruges Hungary Romania Portugal Spain them all have more charming and pretty than anything Italy can offers
I was there in 2015. It is almost a mythical looking place. It's very packed with tourists but that didn't bother me. All the big destinations are packed with tourists.
i don´t think this type of lists should be made. There are just so many beautiful places across europe that if you pick just 25 its ALWAYS going to be wrong because other marvelous towns are going to be missing. Still great video overall i loved all of them
hah I just posted the same thing! Rhodes is a perfect example of medieval architecture. The streets paved with rocks in patterns alone is a masterpiece.
I'm surprised that Bamberg in eastern Germany isn't on the list. It's an amazing city. I also loved Prague. Amsterdam and Barcelona are two of my favorite cities. Four years ago I rode a bicycle from Tangier to Copenhagen. One of my mistakes was missing Toledo, but spending a week in Madrid.
Just check the medieval castle villages built by the Genovese in the Greek island of Chios. Check the villages of Mesta, Pyrgi, Olympoi, Vessa, Kalamoti and many more which are still resided and if you have the chance to travel there you will feel like you travel back in time. Amazing experience!
I have visited the beautiful island of Chios some years ago, and I have been to the village of Pyrgi. And also one abandoned and delapidated village at the mountain top with a monastery nearby. It was an eerie experience and very very beutiful one, too! The tragic history of the people there, as well. Unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the abandoned mountain village.
I have only been to York and I loved it. I was supposed to have been on a Baltic cruise (which was cancelled) in May and we would have stopped at Tallin. It'll probably be two years before we can try again. Fingers crossed we get through this pandemic.
Italian towns can't compare to any of these shown and all the others not here mentioned __there is no Bella italia all run down , old very old dirty and graffiti strewn __clean and cleanse first

As an European, I am, after all this years, still in love with it. Pity that there is no time in a movie, for every country could easily give 100 medieval cities to the list.

Honestly best place I ever have been in, dont know just the atmosphere it had with people everywhere, medieval shops with swords and armor in every corner of the town, the medieval buildings, the tours, it was one of the best if not the best experience I had while visiting a city.
Very beatiful
York, Chester, Edinburgh, Salisbury, Corbridge, Carlisle, Canterbury, Southwell, Newark, Lincoln and many more across the UK.
Britain’s smaller towns are gorgeous
Proud to be Italian ahaha but gotta say, for Italy and many other countries, this list is too short...
@Aboubakar Nkhangweleni People are proud of their countries and their countrymen who built them how hard is that understand? Also you are from africa wtf do you care
@Aboubakar Nkhangweleni Sorry, i don'get it. What's your point?
@Aboubakar Nkhangweleni Like you for example
@Aboubakar Nkhangweleni you had to really think very hard to make such a dumb comment, didn't you?

I’ve been to Rothenburg , it’s really amazing to walk around. I wish I was very much younger and I would be traveling all over the world just to visit these kind of places. I’m sure I wouldn’t get tired.
Great Video,....but I'd like to throw Sintra Portugal in there as well. Europe is awesome
Oh my God 😲 such beauty. Nothing I love more than the European medieval aesthetics
enjoy it while it's still there, some say
In Portugal we have a lot of this small medieval villages like:
. Óbidos
. Guimarães
. Bragança
. Monsanto
. Reguengos de Monsaraz
. Piodão
. Moura
. Mértola
And the list goes on...
Tiago Pinto Marvão
Elvas , Montemor o Velho , a própria cidade de Coimbra

Europe is beautiful, but honestly, nothing quite matches the huge amounts of magnificent cities, towns and villages in Italy !!! It's never ending !!!
Italy is in Europe, Signora...
You forgot old medieval city of Sighișoara - Transilvania(Romania), the only medieval fortress still inhabited from Central and Eastern Europe!
actually Sighisoara is the Europe´s Medieval gate.
Sighisoara/Szegesvàr is really really beautiful!!
The beautifut city of Sighisoara,
the medieval fortress is truly fabulous, shame they didn't mention it.
And Sibiu

Luca in Italy is unbelievable loved it there
Nice but I prefer Mantua.
Apart from our differences guys, let’s love each other, European brothers, we are stunning!

A war between Europeans is a civil war. We've come a long way and still got a long way to go. As long as we respect eachothers differences, we can focus on what we have in common.
@@ewoudalliet1734 if we respected eachother's differences, we wouldn't be together.
Romania is insane ,lot great things to discover ,one at the most fascinated european country
The small medieval cities of Britanny in western France are lovely : Dinan , Treguier , Malestroit , Locronan , Rochefort en Terre , Vitré..
Hands down.
Lucca and Siena never __ there is a lot better than those towns
I was waiting for Visby to show up!
Europe, the cradle of cultures!
things can change in a generation
The earliest signs of a process leading to sedentary culture can be seen in the Levant to as early as 12,000 BC, when the Natufian culture became sedentary; it evolved into an agricultural society by 10,000 BC.[9] The importance of water to safeguard an abundant and stable food supply, due to favourable conditions for hunting, fishing and gathering resources including cereals, provided an initial wide spectrum economy that triggered the creation of permanent villages.[10]
The earliest proto-urban settlements with several thousand inhabitants emerged in the Neolithic.

Amazing towns, so much beauty and history! ❤️
Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria is amazing. I highly recommend the visit.
I was expecting Rhodes and Kraków in Poland to be in top 10.. Not to mention Prague, Bratislava and many more...
Greece is wonderful but really not famous the their medieval towns!
@@dalinaddei I agree -and it is a pity!
Rhodes is pretty cool
And Lübeck the Queen of hanseartyc League mother of brickstonegotik. The City of seven towers
So much history everywhere 😍
Mestreech! 🧡
Thanks for the list, a bit disappointed there is no polish cities on this ( it is a really big part of Europe !) But also Vilnius is my grandmother's birth place and she could talk about it for days.
Totally mind blowing, what a fantastic travel guide. I've been to a few of these locations, but want to visit them all!
20 years ago I spent 6 weeks in Tuscany going from medieval city to medieval city with a couple of buddies. One of the best 6 weeks of my life.
Tallinn has 438 thousands inhabitants, Florence - 383,000. So if Tallinn is on the list (which it definitely deserves), then Florence should also be included.

Every town is beautiful but Mont Saint Michel is simply mezmerizing.
True, if only it weren't so tourist-trappy. I guess it's unavoidable with such a small place full of so many attractions.
I was there in 2015. It is almost a mythical looking place. It's very packed with tourists but that didn't bother me. All the big destinations are packed with tourists.
Sou fascinado por construções e cidades antigas. É muita arquitetura bela para desfrutar e muita história. Belo vídeo!
i don´t think this type of lists should be made. There are just so many beautiful places across europe that if
you pick just 25 its ALWAYS going to be wrong because other marvelous towns are going to be missing.
Still great video overall i loved all of them
It doesn't matter if you miss some, you still propose at least a few of them for the viewers to discover. This on itself is not wrong.

Yes, it is a really stunning medieval city of Hungary, built by Hungary's Saxons and Hungarians.
It was built by the Saxons but the Romanians have always been the majority.
The medieval town of Rhodes is missing. It's completely intact and conserved most medieval buildings authentically and the complete walls.
hah I just posted the same thing!
