The Umbral Choir would make a great rival to the Mechanicus. An undetectable force that creeps across the galaxy, hacking implants and computers as it spreads from system to system seeking to bring peace and harmony to all organics. Smells of heresy.

Such a great concept for a faction. The idea of an extragalactic threat with incredible power invading the galaxy isn't anything new, but I don't think anyone has made a version of it that is benevolent before. It takes the trope and turns it around in a way that just...works. I don't know how else to describe it.

When I saw the makings of it, the options given to the community to vote how the race will turn out I was expecting a dark faction bent on chaos.
But this, it's a shadow crying from the agonising choir piercing it's very soul and being and it just wants to help. It's heart breaking and beautiful
Weeellll. . . depending on how you play them their idea of "help" is a little eldritch. I mean one of the first things you can do is euthanize someone because you decide their suffering is "too great".

Imagine being born in the total darkness of the inbetween and traveling for billion of billions of year never to find life and then suddenly you hear someone dying. You'd want to rush to them as fast as you could to keep them around to end your loneliness and you want to see them happy and safe... but you look like something that wants to eat their soul while they still live.

Damn dude it really does. Coincidentally there's a song from Mechanicus that sounds really similar to Bound by DNA the theme of the Cravers. I think it's either Warriors of Mars, or Millenial Rage.
Less dark and depressing cyber-Gothic though. I get a much more “clean,” hopeful feeling out of this.

This is the most interesting, original piece of music I have listened to in a while. The soundstage is incredible, lending one a sense of endless... space, when wearing headphones.

Love the whispers in the background, it is like they are there, underneath the choir. Moving unseen, but with purpose.

Endless space 2, game on steam
Endless Space 2, a wonderful 4X strategy, one of the leaders in the genre.
As soon as I heard this soundtrack from the trailer I immediately fell in love with it after getting crazy goosebumps listening to it. Couldn't wait to get my hands on the full version! Definitely my favourite soundtrack you've created, which wasn't easy from so many you've done.
This track is so beautiful, I love how it builds and grows like it embodies how the Umbral Choir was roused to wakefulness and committed to taking action upon hearing the death-scream of the Endless. All of the faction themes do a superb job of representing their factions.
This track is so unsettling yet kinda hopeful. It fits the umbral choir quite nicely

This is the first time I've ever heard this song, but the first 10 seconds feel so inexplicably familiar
I know what you mean, its like I've heard it before in a dream, in some place with grand halls.
The first 10 seconds actually remind me of the music in Interstellar.
A choir lost in the deep darkness of space. An echo trying to reach other lives.
The Umbral Choir makes me think it is like if God were real and came around to stop our fighting, a strange alien mind that we could barely understand that just wants to save us all.
Endless Space as a game has a lot of flaws, one of which is that it becomes incredibly boring after a while.
But man the Factions Designs, Artwork and the Music are unbelievably beautiful.
Well, yes, but while most of the other games from this genre will become boring after a few hours, ES2 is a regular time-travel twenty hours into the future :D At least in my case
Most games get incredibly boring after a while, the difference is how long is that while. I say ES2 can give you over hundreds of hour of entertainment before you start feeling burned out. (I made it to 400 hours before I put the game down for a long while)
Amazing games that could be so much better if it only had some mechanics polished and better ai.
Das Institut yeah, I think the biggest issue is how predictable the plot of every match is. In the last third of a game I already know I’m going to win, and no-one can compete. There’s no intense political tension or close wars or desperate famines or whatever, in the end it just devolves to how quickly I can destroy the other factions. War fare is similar as even tiny battles are always incredibly one-sided. I’m not saying the game is easy, it’s just predictable. I “win” or “lose” far before the match actually ends.
It's one of those games that's a lot more fun when you play with or against friends who have a lot of time on their hands while you do too.

Theres something really beautiful about this race and unique, my first race I had victory too, cant describe and the soundtrack just wow it really helps the feel.

Is difficult to control, totally different to other empires. Is like a mix of the Vodyani, the unfallen and the Valuters
emilio perez they are all of that but also nothing of that. They are more like the stereotype image of tge illuminati. Those in the shadows, the puppetmasters. That‘s why I don‘t like how they get that few points early on. You need to syphon the ressources from other empires to sustain yourself

I love so many of endless space 2's music but this just might be my favourite. I listen to it on repeat quite often or on a playlist with other endless space tracks, sometimes I'll turn the music off when i play ES2 and create my own playlist of ES2 music to listen to while I play. so good :)

Can i get a microchip that would play this in my head like constantly? Badass theme. I’ve never really played any endless game but the music to both endless legend and space is superb. And this theme is one of my faves now along with the vaulters and riftborn themes.

I lost my love for Amplitude Studios but my love for the composer FlybyNo remains.
I do not only listen to his creations while playing other space games which just are no competition for his music but also when I meditate sometimes.
This track in particular almost always achieves that I shed a tear or two while doing so.
I feel like the reapers in mass effect should've ended up being something like the umbral choir. Especially since they came across as something supernatural in ME1, saying they were eternal, and have no beginning and no end and stuff.
This relaxes me quite a bit.

@@DutchGuyMike oh sorry, this comment was from when I REALLY loved the Mechanicus faction from Warhammer 40k. I was trying to say that the song sounds like something that would come from their aesthetic.
I thought Riftborn would be like the UC though Riftborn are time masters and ended up sharing a lot of gsme mechanics with the other factions and didn't impact the lore so much. On the other hand the UC really brought another sense of unknown, intriguing and innovative lore with the immaterial theme and it did change the game mechanics to some extend but at the end the game ends up being repetitive

Nah, I like them both and they share some common musical elements but are tonally/thematically completely different. Children of the Omnissiah is grim, gritty, and dark, Immaterial Breath is contemplative, more soothing, and “cleaner.”

hmmm I fonder since this race means that there can be life outside of the endless galaxy and traveling from galaxy to another is posible could it mean that there could be some isolated pockets of endless out there think about it colony of endless not those holograms or the concrete once but actual pure endless before they had their civil war what if one colony of endless left the galaxy to look for new place and then they could come back to the current galaxy and be "like what did we miss?"

@@manoflead643 Well that explosion could be even better reason for them to come to back say they had problem with communication because of the distance and thought "meh let them do what they do back at the endless galaxy" but then they would notice the explosion and start investigating it
