I love Daryl Hall's voice. He has one of the most distinctive voices in music. So smooth and soulful. Hall & Oates were a favorite of me, my mom, my aunt and my cousin's growing up and even now.
Fabulous performance... Daryl's singing was outstanding and GE hit it just right. Great supporting and background vocals. I saw Hall & Oates in Philadelphia back in the 80's and it was one of the best concerts ever!
This stuff will be around forever because it's just superior on every level; writing, arranging, musicianship, showmanship, etc. It will appeal to people hundreds of years from now.
How many people graduated from High School in the 1960's and during that time while they were in high school the girls squeezed when they were at the Beatles concer and the Monkeys concert Same will be said for those of us who were in high school on the 1980's when Daryl Hall and John Oates were in concert many years have passed since those awesome times I even woke up for school to it and I still love that music
Now if this doesn’t bring back so many memories of my life with one of the most incredible memories in my high school days ., wow I absolutely have woke up this morning and had a flashback of the most incredible memories of my life with my life with incredible friends..
Likewise, T. Bone would play with Daryl for several years on "Live from Daryl's House" before he passed away in '11, I think. "LFDH" videos are all over the place on UA-cam, and are =amazing=.
Oh. That other guitar player was the Band Leader for Saturday Night Live. Wonder what he's up to now. Saw Hall and Oats about 6 months ago where past stars go to die. An Indian Casino. Lol. They did really unusual versions of their hits.
The days of coliseums and civic arenas/stadiums are long gone. When H&O come around Connecticut or Massachusetts in last 15 years it's all casino venues.
Greatest voices ans artists duo... stupidly and wrongly as of today the biggest duo in US is not inducted for the Rock'nRoll Hall of Fame... they don't need it!!! absolutely pair of genious!!!
Yeah, GE Smith was so great in this band. I was actually going to drop a comment mentioning his contribution to the H & O sound, but you and a bunch of others beat me to it...
You have to recognize a bands ability to be so on point with live performance and production to where they are making every sonic element come together to sound almost like the record...and THEN make it sound even better - lucky folks to have seen these live shows
I remember listening to this I had it on tape back in the late 80s when I lived in Hawaii. Such an awesome concert I especially love his version of Sarah smile on here it is unique and distinct his voice is on point
I am mad they don't do the "La la la la la la 's" in the pre-chorus I like that part. But John is too busy goofing off with GE smith at that part it seems.
Oates: "Fender sound better!" Smith: "Bullshit. Try Ibanez!" Oates: "Are you kidding? Fender is the one!" Smith: "Just stop it! You must try! Oates: "Man... You'd better..." Smith: "Cut it off! We'd better sing the lyrics"
Water under the bridge baby...Darren thinks the world owes him a living because Daryl Hall is his daddy, while Daddy worked his ass off to get where he is...sorry but I don't believe in entitlement, no one paid $1000 a month to raise me, my daddy raised 3 kids on less than $9000 a year in the 60's and 70's, raised us all with a good Yankee work ethic, and my sister, brother and I all have college degrees (with honors). Daryl and his sister were raised on a middle class income as well, as were John and his sister, and Daryl and John both worked hard to get where they are...if you doubt that, read John Oates' memoir. No "silver spoon" for either of them.
Daryl Hall sings from the heart his words come flowing right to you
GE's tone is incredible. You can hear every pick of the string.
Disconcertingly magnetic performer. Almost impossibe to share the stage with the guy, unless you can bring the business yourself.
How they are not in the rock and roll hall of fame is mind boggling.
They are now.

I love Daryl Hall's voice. He has one of the most distinctive voices in music. So smooth and soulful. Hall & Oates were a favorite of me, my mom, my aunt and my cousin's growing up and even now.

1983 was a great year to be 21 years old and a college student
This is without a doubt the best rendition of this song, ever. Absolutely perfect. I can't listen to the studio version ever again.

That Brother from snl he killed it

GE Smith was in Saturday Night Live for 10 years and toured with Bob Dylan for some years.
Greatest voices ans artists duo... stupidly and wrongly as of today the biggest duo in US is not inducted for the Rock'nRoll Hall of Fame... they don't need it!!! absolutely pair of genious!!!
They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame on April 2014 and received a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame on September 2nd, 2016
love this stuff wish i was born at this time
I miss this kind of music.... What's up with today's "artists"? It's very hard to find originality these days.
Daryl is a Poster Boy for 80's Hairstyle & Outfit.. Nice!
Hall! My gosh! ❤️❤️❤️
damn this is good. GE in full effect
Yeah, GE Smith was so great in this band. I was actually going to drop a comment mentioning his contribution to the H & O sound, but you and a bunch of others beat me to it...

Is anyone listening on 07/01/2024?
Yup. I was. Been listening to this live performance every day for the past two months. Perfection, ain’t it?
Everyone on the stage is probably in their 70s and everyone in the audience in their 50s. Time blows.
Like if you love your 80's
Oates: "Fender sound better!"
Smith: "Bullshit. Try Ibanez!"
Oates: "Are you kidding? Fender is the one!"
Smith: "Just stop it! You must try!
Oates: "Man... You'd better..."
Smith: "Cut it off! We'd better sing the lyrics"

@swimguyLHS check out G.E.Smith with "Moonalice" band
GE channeling Robert Fripp.
Is Daryl McCauley Caulken's father?
LMAO! If he was he'd have one helluva job to get maintenance payments - ask Darren Hall!
Absolute classic of all time! Great music and instrumentals!
I just don't dig the awful white shoes and boots.... who actually invented them?
Your mom.
