This episode was one of my favourites. We got to see a real in depth look at Xena taking the path to redemption. That you have to sacrifice everything to do the right thing. She sacrificed being with her brother to save Gabrielle's soul. It took faith in Xena's part and her belief that this is what HE would've wanted also. At the end of the episode, Xena no longer carries his corpse on her conscience but his love and spirit. Such a gem of an episode.

I agree with you. She heard his words and felt that he wanted the true Xena to emerge, no matter the cost. Otherwise, she'd spend her life denying her true self. It's great to see other people show love for this episode. I'm very fond of seasons one and two.

A producer for Xena said he thought this episode was one of the best stories of season two. He was surprised because this ep didn't get much attention from fans. I loved it, but the online community at the time was more interested in other events of the season like the introduction of Solan, more of the Amazons and Callisto's return.

This episode was really deep when you think about it!.a twist of fates! Would could have been! Set in motion!. And as well as Gabrielle's fate too!. If It wasn't for xena saving her village from the beginning!. I have all the seasons on dvd awesome tho.

Her brother said “Don’t fight Destiny”? That was a for shadowing for the episode “Destiny” later in the season.
He was telling her to accept her destiny as warrior, only it meant more than he could have possibly understood. Lyceus was a cool character. I wish they had done more with him. After season 2, I don't think he's mentioned again.
Aw, you cut out THE reason why she Stabbed the man at 4:20. Gabrielle and her actions were key to Xena's decision then.
Xena was having an inner conflict the entire time. To keep her brother alive, she'd have to deny who she was as a warrior and stop trying to help people. He told her not to fight destiny and the part where Gabrielle becomes a murderer was the final straw.
When Gabrielle killed it changed Xena mind because the Gabrielle she knew would never kill not yet anyway lol. In the future she kills she even killed an innocent by accident.
I wish they did not cut out scene as well. It was crucial to why Xena picked up the sword

An interesting magical mystical philosophical episode. Bit difficult to figure out what's going on unless you know the storyline. But Xena looks quite nice in civvies 😍

Skipping around and editing to avoid copy rights very annoying
This is the official Xena Warrior Princess UA-cam channel which means it’s the creators of the show who authorized this channel to be made, so it’s not trying to avoid copyright strikes by skipping around in the episode to different scenes. They probably are skipping around to make u want to buy a season or at least a whole episode to watch on UA-cam.
I love this show so much, but man it's cringeworthy hearing New Zealanders putting on the most terrible fake American accents.
