How I Make Cow Tags

- Since it's raining, I've decided to go ahead and make some tags for the replacement heifers for once we get them pregnant checked. Also once the rain quits, we better get some mineral out to the cows and see how they're doing!

I've done hundreds of these. Makes my wrist cramp up just watching this. Have since switched to a French skive tool used for leather work, sort of a push graver. Strop it every few tags to keep it sharp, wear a glove on your holding hand. It carves out a square sided U shape, gives crisp edges. Was always worried about inhaling the rubber shavings from Dremel. Can't believe Ritchey doesn't give an inhalation warning. You'd have to think that powdered rubber would stay in your lungs forever. Wear a mask. Good job on your carving.

Since I am new here, what did you mean about the different size of those two calves at the end? They started out the same size? Why the difference now?
So both calves were born on the same day. Both are from different sets of twins and we’re both pulled off their mothers. They were bottle calves together and then the bigger one was grafted onto another cow. The little one eventually stopped taking a bottle but never bummed on any cows. You get to see it happen in the “cow hunting & calf adoption” video!
It is hard to get a calf to grow that doesn't have a momma.
What you think of the medicated ear tags for flies?
I’ve never used them. I just didn’t last very long but I could be wrong. what about you?

Cows don’t have litters but everyone numbers their tags differently it’s just preference. Yes, X will be 2032 so if the game is futuristic then possibly! Lol

I have been contemplating getting a Lazer engraver for doing tags. How do you like the look of the tags when done and what Lazer brand do you use and like?
Don’t laugh. I love cows. I need a small tag for a small stuffed toy cow. It’s a family story about my love for dairy cows and I was five when it began. For me…the tags are called “cow jewelry” and I really need one piece of cow ear jewelry for my tiny stuffed animal. Any ideas?
OK, so do I need to dig $$ out of my Social Security check to buy you door panels for the good pickup? I mean I would have bought you headlights, but ya got one and once every 29.5 days ya got the full moon, so I guess yer good there. Does that bad girl have headers and twice pipes to keep up with that four barrel???
just need one panel or some paint! more concerned bout the grill shell 😂 and no it doesn’t so I have no gasket leaks and I can change the starter lol
