Hello guy responsible for the sound, id like to say YOU DID A BANGER OF A JOB! my surround sound headset lets me hear where stuff is, even through walls and caves and stuff and its all done SO WELL that it ACTUALLY sounds like it would sound if something is say, diagonnay left behind, but behind a wall, in a tunnel. you NAILED it.
This is, by far, my favorite swarm track. It gives off the loneliness of solo missions and unease of pitch-dark caves, and it sends a clear message: "You're alone, against the whole planet. Fight hard, or end up like those who didn't. Do it for yourself. For the fallen. For Karl." You've done astonishing work on this one, Rock and Stone, to the bone!
I was in the middle of typing a comment about how the orchestra hit sounds like it was right out of the Goldeneye N64 game when you mentioned James Bond 😂
I would love the original version of hold my beard as a song that plays while you head to the drop pod, it's intense enough for running from enemies but also sounds hopeful and like you're heading towards safety
One does not often get the chance to see behind the scenes of the sound design process for video games so this was very interesting to follow! It's amazing work, without you DRG would only be half the game it is today!
Simply one of the best soundtracks out there. Top-notch work and all the best in your future endeavours. By the way, the grabber cry is the stuff of nightmares!
As a person who interested in creating music I find these DRG music videos very educational and inspiring: really love to see how the instruments work with each other, compare first and final versions, and discover details that I haven't noticed before. While playing DRG with friends we often comment the tracks that are playing at the moment. Also listening to the OST at full volume while working is amazing! Thank you very much.
I'm not too knowledgeable in how music is made, but just watching this makes me learn a thing or two in regards to it. Probably one of my favorite tracks from the game in general, now makes me wonder how the swarm/combat themes would sound as just ambient versions :p Love the sound design in the game, give a lot of feel especially the reverb in the caves are just mighty mmph. Honestly wondering if there will be more music later on...
Wow! There's so much difference between the original and the final versions I can't believe it. Especially in "Robot Gateway" where I was surprised by absence of drop in the original compared to how fantastic it is in the final version. Hope we'll see more of "Behind the music" videos in future
I really enjoyed the much more airy / spacey feeling your final version turned out (more dynamic / less compressed feeling). Also terrific with the educational part :)
Is everyone at GSG so passionate and lovey? Oh my god I see more about the process behind the game each day and I just recover more hope on gaming industry with these companies
Hey man! Id love to see a video on the robot sound design, especially on the Caretaker. Blew my mind (and I almost shat my pants) when I heard that for the first time. Would be amazing to get a few insights on how these sounds are created.
Thanks!:) Noted! (I plan on doing 2 more videos on music first, but the sound of the caretaker, could def. be interesting to do. And I hope your pants are still in one piece!;)
I just started playing this game, I’m late to the party I know, but I love it and one thing that stands out in every mission is the incredible sound design. Don’t think I’ve played a game with better sound design in a long time. Good work man, this video is also really cool.
It's interesting to see your process and hearing all the different aspects that go into one of these pieces. As an aspiring audio engineer/composer it was great learning more about one of my favorite game soundtracks. Thanks for the video.
Mr. Troels! (I apologize so much if I misspelled!) You are so insanely talented...bless you for blessing my ears with your symphonic talent. Truly you are a saint of music. So few soundtracks bring a tear to my eye the way DRG does, and for that, I'm forever grateful for the work you and Sophus did.
Never realised how instrumental you were to making the soundtrack as iconic as it is. I’ve just made something DRG-inspired but unfortunately my mixing and mastering skills are lacking. Wish I were as good an audio engineer as you!
I can only chime in in all the positive feedback, the game and the OST is just pure gold 🍻 Good job! Also, where can I get the pictures in the video (especially the very first one)? Would make for a great poster ☺️
New subscriber here. Huge fan of both the sound design and soundtrack of DRG. Thank you so much for all that you do. 🍻 Merry Christmas and Rock and Stone. 🪨 ⚒️
I love the sound effect at 7:49 , I've noticed it's in multiple tracks. Is there any deeper meaning behind it? It sound very whimsical and cartoony and you'd think it would clash hard, but it's so oddly fitting. It's the kinda sound you'd hear from picking up treasure in an old MS DOS game or something, don't know how else to describe it. Is that what you were going for?
Thanks:)! Mmmm. Not really sure what Sound you mean. Is it the metallic cymbal-ish sound that ends the section? Or the bass sound? And thanks for watching :)
@@Yanncki64 i actually don’t remember what it is. But some reversed cymbal of some sort. It just seems to fit the kind of “disgusting” aesthetic that is already present in the music haha. The old school 80s He-man stuff :)
@@trjaudio Huh are we really talking about the same sound? Haha, it honestly sounds more like slowed-down fairy glitter to me or something. Like this ua-cam.com/video/9EXO4vbNIUc/v-deo.html
6:33 I adore this winding down effect. Like a siren being shut down only to turn on again on full power.
this so cool to see. never noticed how well the music keeps itself separated from actual game sounds you need to hear.
there are only 2 songs that interfere with the rest of the game in my opinion but also very much help enrich and develop the gameplay further.

You're way too good at your job
And you’re way too good at leaving amazing comments!:)
Purchased DRG ost, the first and only game OST I have officially purchased from steam

You sir are truly a master that elevates DRG to another layer. True professional that nows how it is being underground in the caves of Hoxxes
Great video, i really enjoy the music and sound design of DRG! If you want remixes done, i would love to do it.
Please do a video on “Dance of the dreadnought” it’s such a good song, especially for on site refining mission.

Nothing is planned, but we will see:)
