@AshTheOne Better technique, quality of sound and attention to real storytelling. None of those fake, overused so-called R&B roulades. They are inauthentic and therefore sound cheap. If you're Aretha Franklin and discovering these cadenzas that's one thing. What ALL pop stars, not just Grande do these days, is endless pointless cadenzas that don't enhance either the song or their performance. Grande is enormously talented, with a great voice. Its wasted on pop, even though it's making her tons of dough. I'm sure if I had a voice like hers I'd do the same I would go for the money, but I'd miss the real music.

She’s actually amazing at Broadway, she started young and did 13. She did a small, intimate show with the director/composer of 13 a few years ago that shows her broadway voice REALLY well. I wish she’d do more powerhouse vocals and I’m not sure why she’s doing what she is, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same here! With proper training she should pronounce her words better. Don't know why this isn't being pointed out. She barely moves her lips on some of the words and that's why she's not understandable. Maybe ok'ish in pop but not Broadway. No point of singing a song and you can't understand the words! The song IS the story! Look at Lady Gaga, she pronounces her words. She has musical theater training.

She has a very natural voice with a very nice blend of head and chest voices. I do not necessarily like it when she tips her chin up and back. She likes to hold notes to their full value. Her soft voices are her best,, the blend is gorgeous. She first came to my attention with Bang Bang. I also think,, that mic is not quite keeping up to her,,, I think some of the tinniness is the mic.

Hej :-), I already answered a similiar comment above. There are actually techniques like Estil that teach you to slightly raise the chin when belting higher to allow the larynx to rise. I - as a voice teacher- would generally not encourage it...the important thing is though: if you're not hurting yourself or your voice and you can do the same WITHOUT ...there's no harm in it. I think it's become a bit of a habit for her that she certainly could do without (esp. in the long run...'neck tension') but so far she seems fine - so I wouldn't knock it too much :-).

These are so fun! Please review anything Adele!! And I think you would also be interested in Scott Hoying and Mario Jose “LOST ON YOU”. It truly gives a person goosebumps, it’s so beautiful. It’s on Scott’s UA-cam channel.

People are saying they can't understand her but this is actually the only time I've understood her. I was so glad she sang this properly rather than in her usual style. I always get so happy seeing Alex Lacamoire playing piano in this as well.

I'm a studied voice teacher. I would definitely discourage it in my students but only because it limits you in your ability to move freely and it could build up some tension. Estil f.e. teaches you to lift up your chin slightly the higher you belt to give the larynx space to rise...I always say: as long as you still feel free in your movement and you're doing it voluntarily and without hurting yourself and your voice: Why not. I think it's become a habit for her and she could definitely do without but so far it's not hurting her.

This was going to be my question. I felt uncomfortable watching her constantly stretching out her neck and chin. I was always taught by my teacher to imagine there was a string pulling from your back up the back of your neck and out the crown of your head. I always felt that helped me remember to prepare space. I mean, a bit here and there for character and getting into it, but it was very constant in this performance.

Hello, Tara! Can you consider reacting to "NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE)". It may be sound off your preferable style, but it has an interesting mix of operatic, regular and rock vocal (I'm not very good in vocal terminology). Would be nice to hear your commentaries about that performance.

Imagine Lady Gaga as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda in a Wicked movie... Their chemistry is already there so I think it would work perfectly.

Ariana grew up MT cause her mum is a huge BW fan and she used to sing straight MT runs but with this concert she wanted to put a pop spin on it which was very cool.
