We baby boomers were so lucky, we had him around a long time. Walt Disney's So Dear to My Heart was a great movie. He may not have been a Pavarotti, but without even being told, who didn't instantly recognize his voice. He was unique for sure. So sad the kids of the last 25 yrs haven't had a Burl Ives to watch and listen to on TV or in movies. He is missed.

As a little kid, I played Claude King's version over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... It reminded me of my 4-5-6 year old's crush on my next door neighbor's daughter, little Aileen Marie K.
Just heard Burl Ives’ version of Wolverton Mountain for first time. Have always loved this song and have had such an admiration for Mr. Ives. He was such a remarkable actor. A couple nights ago I watched The Big Country. Am longing to see Desire Under the Elm. RIP Mr. Ives.❤

@mode1charlie170 Great acting from Burl Yves in that movie. There were also Gregory Peck, Charles Bickford. Charlton Heston, Jean Simmons, Chuck Connors. It seems to me that these people have not been replaced. I miss them.
I'm going to Wolverton Mountain...in the early morning rain... going to slip up that slippery slope and then sled on down to common ground and hopefully land feet on the ground but not downtown... just a little further back to a neck in the woods...as that stands more the test of time than all the money'd crime that flows from government slime time not worth a dollar or a dime and surely not worth the bother of a rhyme even at Christmas time... purporting to be sublime... should I dare to say happy Xmas...I would but then I would have to deal with Thomas. And then his near blasphemous snore...or... just forget it... well my memory is slip sliding away anyway... still while I can going to go up Wolverton Mountain cuz I'z actually looking for some believable style... just some ravings of a could be mad man though only want to be walking a cooling path... but first got to get up that Mountain in the early morning rain!
