TRASH: The Short Film I Was Too Scared to Release (Scarlet Gomez & Stephen Okoboh)

- "Trash" is a heartfelt short film that almost never saw the light of day. Made a few years ago, I was reluctant to release it because I thought I’d done a terrible job as a filmmaker. But now, I’m finally letting go of that fear to share it with the world.
🎬 Starring acclaimed actress Scarlet Gomez and rising star Stephen Okoboh, with a surprise cameo by me, Trash tells the story of [ how a couple get into a quarrel over an overflowing bin with unintended consequences.
It is a film about [core themes, e.g., redemption, transformation, beauty in imperfection], and it also reflects my personal journey as a filmmaker overcoming self-doubt.
🌟 Why Watch This Film?
A powerful narrative brought to life by Scarlet Gomez and Stephen Okoboh.
A raw and relatable exploration of fear, failure, and redemption.
A glimpse behind the scenes of my creative journey, including my surprise on-screen cameo!
💡 This film is a testament to the idea that even imperfect creations can connect deeply with audiences.

I'm glad you find it interesting 😁. Thanks for watching
For a film that was shot in 2017, this is a really good film👌🏽👌🏽
Oh wow! I'm glad you think so. If i were to shoot this again, there are so many things I would do differently. I believe the actors saved it
this matters alot
I quite agree

oh wow.
🎉🎉🎉
This is really good! well done
Thank you
Suspenseful in the end… We’re left with questions and thoughts…
“Was she dreaming?”
“Did she really hit him?” Given the bandaid on his head
He was shaken up when he saw her with something to hit him
Is there a part 2??
So the open ending is the point. To raise questions and give the audience the opportunity to interprete it as they see fit
What a rollercoaster, thank you!
Thank you more. Thanks for watching

Your “worst” film is not even a bad film. However, I’m curious to know what you’d do differently if you were to remake it .
Thanks a mill for watching and for your kind comments.
I think I see it as my worst because it is the one project that fell far short of my vision for it for several reasons:
1. Technical issues on set. I had quite a number if issues with the technical crew. Infact, at one point I had to grab the camera and take some shots myself.
2. A number of missing scenes that couldn't be shot because of the aforementioned technical issues as well as other things.
3. Constant re-edits. This is the 4th edit of this short and it's still unfinished. I also wasn't able to score it properly.
4. The story itself was supposed to be more layered, and that obviously didn't happen.
5. I was very green behind the ears.
If I were to reshoot it today(I plan to), I would ensure that all the above issues are addressed adequately.
It would be good to see what your re-shoot would look like😊
As per the score, I liked the one that played as she went to dispose of the body. It was different from the usual Nollywood score that we hear. Not a bad end product given the challenges you faced.
Rogba you just enjoy messing with our heads 😂
Eventually it's not as bad as you made it seem back then. I enjoyed it.
😅...I'm quite relieved. It had me worried
Congrats on your acting debut, Bro. But what exactly is it that you don't like about this film bcos I loved it and Scarlett absolutely killed her part. Granted there were a few parts that weren't tidied up eg, why did the person she called after the incident never show up, but otherwise it was quite engaging, as it should be.
Thanks sis. It's the creative's curse. It didn't turn out the way I planned for it to
see what trash can cause
Yes o! Escalations from the ordinary no dey take time
😂😂😂
True talk. Moral of the story - make men no dey draw when madam asks them to do something
