I love your video and well detailed information. Messina port is one of the ports on my cruise itinerary. The ship as per schedule will arrive in Messina at 9am and will leave at 7pm. My question is, would 6 hours to and from Messina and toarmino (by train+bus) be enough to explore all or most of the places you featured in this video? And my cruise is in the first 2 weeks of June. How's the weather like in June in general? Is it a busy month in toarmina?
So excited for my cruise and I would love if you can answer my questions. Much love! New sub here. Thanks!

Hi there! Thanks for the subscription and sorry for my late reply. :) Yes, 6 hours is enough to see the highlights of Taormina! Just check the train itinerary in advance (www.trenitalia.com/) and plan accordingly.
I made this video about Taormina in a day, and all the attractions you see in the video I filmed in a day 😃 I also had around 5-6 hours in Taormina and this was my itinerary: Corso Umberto - Piazza IX Aprile, Duomo di Taormina, and then I went to Villa Comunale, Teatro Antico, break for lunch, and finally I climbed to Madonna della Rocca church. Getting to the church takes 300 steps, so it's quite challenging, but you can take a taxi instead or you can skip it if you want to enjoy more time in the old town.
Castelmola village is also nice, but I didn't have time to visit it (I just saw it on top of the hill). Taormina is so wonderful and you'll enjoy it very much!
June is a busy month but still not high season, which is typically in July and August. I am sure you'll have perfect weather and an amazing time! Have fun and let me know your impressions!
      🥰😇

My cruise ship will arrive in Messina at 9am and will leave at 7pm. Is that enough time to see both Messina and Taormina? Thank you. Your videos are excellent.

Hi Judy, thank you! Yes, it's plenty of time to visit both. I would first head to Taormina, the train station in Messina is within walking distance from the port (maybe 10-15 minutes) and trains depart several times per hour. You can check the timetables at the official website www.trenitalia.com/. I suggest you buy them online, and you can do it when you arrive in Messina. I would save at least 3 hours for Taormina, and it's enough because the place is small and everything is within walking distance. You can return to Messina by 4:30/5pm and have around 1.5-2 hours for Messina. You don't need more than that, the city center and the main square are a 5-minute walk from the ship. That's what I would do :) Have a great cruise, I hope this info helps! 😇

I see that you have some drone shots. Are there strict regulations for flying drones there? ty

@@rlrl79 Hi, drone shots are not mine, those are royalty-free shots from Internet. But I guess you need to comply to local regulations, I don't fly drone so not really sure how it works. :)

We are arriving via cruise ship and wondering if you could recommend place to buy bottle of wine near cruise port? thank you

Hi! Hmm, not sure about that. All I can recommend is a pizza place, "Il Siciliano" restaurant right across the cruise terminal in Messina, which has amazing pistachio pizza😇🍕 But not sure about wine, sorry!

I have read that once exiting the Giardini Naxos train station that taxis are rare and the wait for a bus can be up to one hour. Is this true? Is there enough buses or frequency of buses to handle cruise and other passengers exiting the train station in the morning? How much time should we expect to wait to catch a bus in the early afternoon to return to Giardini Naxos train station? Would it be a better option to take a bus from the cruise port to get dropped off right at the entrance to the old town?

      @AdventourBegins  Рік тому +1

Hi there! Taormina tends to be crowded in July and August, so yes, you may be waiting longer for the buses. At the train station, you can get on the Linea Verde minibus but there are also Intercity buses that go to Taomina Old town, although the ticket price may be slightly higher. At the Giardini Naxos train station, you can find an updated board with all updated schedules and routes.
The same goes for the bus station at San Pancrazio Square in the old town, once you get off the bus, I highly recommend you check out the schedule and timetables of the Linea Verde line and all lines that go to the train station (there is a board with schedules at the station). That way, you'll know at what time to expect the bus so you can plan your way back to the train station.
If your cruise line offers a transfer to the old town, you can consider that option as well, especially in July and August. In spring and autumn, it's not so chaotic, so you can also go on your own.
As for the taxis, the taxi station is not so big and naturally cannot fit many vehicles at once. So I guess you may be waiting longer for the taxis in the high season.
Many things depend on the seasonality, when I went to Taomina - it wasn't the high season so I had no difficulties finding transportation, but when a cruise ship is in port, it's always more crowded.
Also, if your ship docks at Messina, not all people will go to Taormina, so it will be less busy for sure. Many passengers decide to stay in Messina and explore other options. If your cruise ship anchors in the bay of Naxos, then the majority of cruise passengers go to Taormina.
So there you go, I hope I helped at least a bit 🙂
Have a great cruise and please share your thoughts and experience here with us!
