Lamo I guess stalker theme is the only theme long enough
"In all of my films, it seemed important to me to remind the audience to the fact that they are not alone, lost in an empty universe, but they are connected by innumerable threads with their past and present, that through certain mystical ways, every human being realizes the rapport with the world and the life of humanity."
-Andrei Tarkovsky
Thank you for this quote. It is a relevant and timely one for me.
Tarkovsky is the definition of "artist". A true legend with beautiful photography throughout every single film. Thank you for this tribute!
Ya
Eh... He's alright I s'pose...
I watched "Stalker" out of curiosity at a very late nighttime. When the film was done it was already almost 2am, I didn't really understand the film when it ended. I went to bed and laid down. I wanted to turn the light off, I was staring at the ceiling. I couldn't reach out to the light switch to turn the light off and get some rest. I was staring at the ceiling with so many things going through my mind. The film hit me late, the scenes kept popping up in my head. It was almost 4am when I finally fell asleep, and when I woke up at 8am, I didn't feel like I even slept but I didn't feel tired neither. I just felt an emptiness, a different void in me and I don't know what was.
Exact same thing man..exact same thing!!!!!!!
"I didn't really understand the film when it ended to I just felt an emptiness , a different void in me and I don't know what was"-every tarkoskyian movie journey, something like this.. and we start the journey to the film after the movie was watched. 🤍
Power of art

Tarkovsky's movies are the most beautiful poems ever composed
USSR is a poetic state
Japan cinematographers are poem's made films ALL the rest are copy cat's.
Terrence malik
What about Olexander Dovzhenko? Ukrainian poetic cinema?
unsurpassed director
I've seen all of his films and "Stalker" is one that will always remain in my heart. I love it dearly and have literally no idea why.
The landscape, wind blowing the trees, water or rain are characters in a Tarkovsky film. Each moment a small miracle.
The best review of Stalker that I've ever read:
"...throughout the entire film, you will likely feel that the plot is relentlessly drawn out,
unnecessarily stretched, and never-ending.
It's possible that you will be bored to death for the entire 172 minutes.
You might even fall asleep.
But you will never forget."
For me, Tarkovsky’s films don’t feel relentlessly drawn out and unnecessarily stretched.
Yes, they are slow. But, we are already warned from the beginning than the films will be slow.
We are immediately told to be patient, to not be in a rushed.
We are never promised fast-paced narratives.
The poet of cinema.
His film Ivan's childhood and Stalker are real masterpieces. He's not just a director, he's a genius.
P.S. From Russia with love ❤️
This one of the greatest filmmakers of all time in the history of cinema. He ultimately changed the landscape and inspired a lot of film auteurs, cinephiles with his words of wisdom, brilliant ideas about films and stuffs that we didn't notice at all. This is excellent work. Amazing.
Unlike all the other art forms, film is able to seize and render the pasaage of time, to stop it, almost to possess it in infinity. I'd say that film is the sculping of time.
- Andrei tarkovsky
What would animation be? And novels? And comics?
@@GagsAnimation Animation is still film if you wish, but at the same time you are not capturing "reality", but creating your own. Novels and comics are the same: you are composing something, putting an idea on paper. Film captures time, a moment that will never happen again, for all eternity
1:47 most beautiful shot ever filmed. it made me burst into tears.
What movie is it?
@@tio760 Nostalghia (1983)
“Intimacy”, I can't find another word that describes better Tarkovsky's cinematographic style in such detail. His scenes are serene, soft, silent, he offers you the opportunity to contemplate the beauty of his art at your own pace, without the need to mark an obvious focal point that forces your gaze to focus on something specific. The music is organic, alive, sounds that awaken a certain nostalgia in us, even if it is the first time we have heard them.
The aim of Tarkovsky’s work is transmitting the fact that it’s important that despite not receiving answers to our existential questions, it is vital that we choose to believe: choose to believe that our actions have meaning; that there are causes worth fighting for; that our love, feelings, memories, ideas, everything matters. It is important to step forward and believe in something capable of dominating our ego, our grandiosity, our arrogance, be it the awesome force of the corpulent universe or the image of a divine deity. As long as it serves to make us feel a certain humility, to emphasize that no one enjoys the absolute truth, and, perhaps above all, to allow us to contemplate the implications of the unknowable.
Композитор Артемьев автор музыки тоже гений
just yesterday i saw, "Ivan's childhood" and "the Mirror". Masterpieces.
you must be Russian to understand the mirror
@@sawbaw3640 That would explain it. I’m not Russian and I did not understand Mirror one bit. The only Tarkovsky movie I dislike.
@@henkjarnosla1991 well not necessarily need to be from Russia, but if you are it well help to understand the plot and few events that took place in the movie, overall mirror is very nostalgic and personal picture by tarkovsky he latterly was talking about himself and his experience with life but also trying to pass his messages and his thoughts about existence and life and the human soul by sharing he's life experiences and what he concluded by it.
i just watched Andrei Rublev it was really good
@@sawbaw3640 l agree it was to hard for me to stay focus l liked cetain things like the opening scene and cinematography but the idea didn't get to my mind.
Along with Kubrick, Tarkovsky is clearly my favorite film artist ever. His shots are often deep, mystical and so naturally composed to influence and act as a balm to our soul. Meditative and hard to explain beauty... Like taken out from dreams. My personal favorites are Andrei Rublev and The Mirror.
Tarkovsky, Kubrick, Bergman, Fellini, Kurosawa... Unfortunately, such great directors will no longer exist in cinema. It is a great honor for me that I had the privilege of living in the same century with them.
Kubrick...that's a poor comparison
Why? @@harikaimal
Pure and heavenly beautiful.
This is the world where I would like to live.
I think the world would be better if anyone would watch the movies of Tarkovsky. Thank you for this beautiful tribute, on his birthday!
one of the greatest directors of all time.

A beautiful tribute to my favorite film director. He truly pointed us to the sublime. It’s a pleasure to read so many comments from like-minded individuals.
Mine too! He's the only director IMO to have all masterpieces in his filmography. Even Kubrick hasn't done that. Don't worry they're in my top 3 along with Kurosawa!
Don't know if it's possible, but a "The Beauty of Roger Deakins" would be amazing
That video will be more than an hour long...
I SECOND THIS
I would like a video about Jarhead
Roger Deakin once answers in Hollywood reporter questions "give namd of one director with whom you have dreamed to work?" And Roger Deakin instantly said "Andrei tarkovsky"
No doubt two giants! In my opinion Tarkovsky was the greatest. We cannot forget that he was a Director, as well as Director of Photography and Camera. He was a genius in every role he played!
The perspective from which his films where shot and thus also told remains unique.
What is this sentence?
Just a thought floating in the ocean of life. But, what is this life?
I think after watching this video and being reminded of the greatness of such film makers as Tarkovsky, the recent stuff just seems so basic and unimaginative.
His first ever shot was of a tree and so was his last ever shot. Kudos for maintaining that in this video
My favorite director is Andrei tarkovsky
Спасибо автору за труд. Я, честно говоря, большой фанат фильмов Тарковского, ибо он - звезда не только советского, но и мирового кинематографа. Этот режиссёр действительно достоин вечной памяти.
tarkovsky is who you watch before you die.
Almost every frame in a Tarkovsky film is a delight to the eyes. Amazing video. Thank you.
One of my favorite movies is "Stalker". Great director!
STALKER IS SLOW,BUT REALLY I DIDN'T GET BORING OF SEE IT.IT IS ONE OF THE BEST SLOW PACED MOVIES.IT IS ARGUABLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL I HAVE EVER SEEN WITH APOCALYPSE NOW
Andrei tarkovsky is such a brilliant director his films are amazing differently top 10 directors
One of the best, if not the best film directors ever to grace the history of cinema. I'm sure he would've been proud of this beautifully done tribute. Cheers to you and your art! Be safe :D
i love how you used the very first shot of his first feature film as the start of the video and the very last shot of his very last film as the end to the video
One of the most influential directors of all time! Such a wonderful video
I was searching Tarkovsky after watching his films, and you gave me this video thank you.
@@samouraibleu way turk
Andrei Tarkovsky, the man whose films usually i don't understand but i tend to watch them out of curiosity (that I'll understand somehow, someday) and again and again there some tense feeling (not creepy at all), the loneliness, the empty void, which i can't even explain much. It just happens every single god damn time!
From his first feature to his last, every single movie i watched them at least 5 times (each) and that same feeling goes in mind. Its fuckin poetry at its best! Masterpieces.
PS- Sorry to say this but he's the only director whose movies can't be described. It's just flows with time, on and on.....
How many of you have noticed that the Russian Director ended his career with the same scene he had started it with? That's Andrei Tarkovsky, the greatest filmmaker ever lived.
Hello 'the beauty of' , your quality never drops, in your videos I not only appreciate beautiful cinematography but they also do one more thing for me , it's the understanding visual storytelling. When I watch your videos ,most times I have no idea about movie but by watching those silent beautiful shots with no dialogues I try to Gauss the meaning or purpose of the shot and it's fun for me.thank you.
Never clicked faster on a video!
Omg, this is my favourite video, i'm crying, great work my friend, bravo 🙌
the poet of cinema
I was hoping you picked this song before opening the video! You always have the songs spot on. Great video!
One of my favorite directors, thank you for taking the time to create something so beautiful.
The master of visual poetry and emotion. You feel everyone of his films through framing, light and mise en scene.
I admire your work. Hope to see in the nearest future The Beauty of Parajanov.
ele é meu diretor favorito de todos os tempos
Hollywood stuff is for your early and mid days... Tarkovsky is for your final part of life... It's an existential cinema
Its all the way backward for me
And music by Eduard Artemiev is perfect
Cinematography is divine.
I'm here by accident, but not complaining.
master director, the movement of the actors on the screen and the movement of the camera itself are unmatched
his imagery of the 4 elements of nature are just remarkable, fire shots, water shots etc, just magnificent
One of the most under appreciated directors of all time
@House Of Fleapit i think he means there are few who knows Andrei work today. Only who love cinema dig about him
@House Of Fleapit not known by everyone I feel. Only Cinephiles would know about him. People need to talk more about him
the only director who always leaves me speechless and in awe. whenever i watch a segment of his movies, i always feel stunned and ask myself how someone can do this.
you can shot a movie that looks like the works of bergman, ozu, kubrick, fellini etc. but it is impossible to imitate tarkovsky. his works are anomaly.
I'm waiting for a movie shot like 2001 . Don't think I'll ever find that
@@HAL--gb6uf This can be saidto a few movies more...
Fantastic video! Tarkovsky is my all time favorite film maker. Thanks for this tribute.
I was waiting for this a long time. The definition of beauty in cinema is Andrei Tarkovsky's films.
A great true Artist who filmed the secret and mysterious poetry of life
This music is the reason Stalker is my favorite Tarkovsky. It's simply perfect.
the one video we've all been waiting for.
I seriuosly believe that Mirror could be the greatest achievement in the history of mankind
I agree. The Mirror is a special film not only among Tarkovsky's films, but among all other films.
What about the invention of camera?
Second you your spelling, that is.
You're absolutely right
Oh my! I've been waiting for this! Thank you, The Beauty Of! 💗
The Timeless Artist and Philosopher and Poet of Cenima ❤️ *Love him so much*
The thing about Tarkovsky is he wasn't just a one of a kind artist but he as a person was so unique. I have seen interviews of him and what he said whether it was about life, advice for aspiring filmmakers, love, spiritually and films was always filled with wisdom and always was unique. He not only inspires me as a filmmaker but as a person too.
The most anticipated video!

Incredible compilation of Tarkovsky! It's clear that we are talking about an incredible film director!!
Nice!! The mirror is my favorite Tarkovsky film and I can’t wait for Janus films restoration!
Tarkovsky is the soul of cinema💚
Un poeta sensibilissimo. Musica e fotografia bellissime.. Cercherò di conoscerlo.di più
The beauty of his imaginary.. It hits you and then it carves into the deep of your soul
I like how in ever Tarkovsky movie he always has what's shown here, iconic shots panning towards the whole place while the character looks at the view and we just see their back. Maybe, at awe and reflection of what we would also do if we saw what the character saw.
Finally. I've been waiting for this for a long time and thank you for this great video
Beautiful
Behold! Legend is here!
Tarkovsky is one of the architects of the human soul and its internal conflicts, great work man.
Гениальный режиссёр!
Solaris is my favorite Tarkovsky film, but The Mirror has equivalently sublime cinematography, and Andrei Rublev is equivalently powerful and thought-provoking.
Thank you for this video, if only this one.
Amazing

Bravo for the intro and outro !
Ребята, вам бы стоило написать, что музыку к этому фильму написал великий русский композитор Эдуард Артемьев, написавший музыку к еще двум фильмам Тарковского - "Солярис" и "Зеркало".
