Thank you for sharing this video! I make my vanilla extract with Grade A Madagascar Vanilla Beans and White Rum. I think it has a lovely taste! I give as gifts every single year and everyone loves it! If you’ve never made homemade vanilla extract, do it!!! You’ll never regret it!
Have you tried coconut rum? Oh my goodness, it's heavenly!! The coconut basically melds away and it leaves a sweetness behind that tastes soooo good with the vanilla. It's my favorite! I have been making extract for over 30 years. The only bad batch I made was with Tito's. It was extremely harsh and peppery. I finally tossed it after 2 1/2 years because it just wouldn't mellow out.
Im going to try it with coconut rum, I made it with Spiced Rum for years, cheap stuff, everyone always enjoys homemade vanilla extract. I let mine sit for 6 months before I sell them or give them away
Mama Sue, I have a half-gallon maturing now. My daughter and I love making seasoned vinegars, oils and, of course, my vanilla. The nurses at my doctor's office always loves getting vanilla at Christmas. I always get Madagascar beans and 80 proof vodka. I try to sneak in the ABC store or maybe "slink in" would be a better descriptive.
Thank you for this! I have been wanting to do this and now that I’ve seen you do this I can. What a good Christmas gift this will be!! ❤ I have people in my family that love to cook 😊
I joined a vanilla Facebook group. Best vanilla beans ever. I made many quarts of vanilla and passed them out to family and friends. I also love to use the caviar to make vanilla paste.
Mama Sue thank you for show us this. I never knew how to make it. I’m going to have to slink like a snake somewhere to buy Vodka 😂I’ve never bought a bottle of alcohol in my life. Never needed it.
This is a wonderful video .Thank you for showing us how to make our very own vinalla. How do we find the bottles that you use for yours .Love you and your videos ❤
Hi sweet Mama Sue. Where did you get your bottles that you make you vanilla extract in? Thank you. I really enjoy watching you & Harold. You are such a blessing.❤️
Also, you can use Everclear since it's high proof alcohol. Just be careful handling it, as Everclear is pretty flammable. Vodka would be the "clear" choice anyways, no pun intended lol
I didn't know you can make vanilla would love to try it very expensive at store if using Alot where did you get your bottles with the cap ??? Do you need special ones??? Ty for sharing God Bless 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤
@@KRLouisianaThis is incorrect. These aren't beans that magically extract for the rest of our lives. They extract one time and are spent. The only thing that happens when you add more liquor is you begin diluting the extract. It is no longer extract but flavored liquor.
I`m sorry but this isn't vanilla extract. It's just vanilla flavored vodka - similar to imitation vanilla. Extract requires a minimum of 1 oz of vanilla beans per 8 oz of liquor. Vanilla Bean Kings has very affordable beans. It will take 6 months to a year to extract, depending on how the beans are cut and how often the bottle is shaken. Adding more liquor to a bottle after its been used does nothing more than dilute what is made. Beans only extract one time. They aren't magical beans that keep extracting.
I make apricot sherry for gifts and now I am going to try this. Thank you.
Yummy, I also put 2 vanilla beans in a bowl of sugar for vanilla sugar!!
I am going to try this. Thank you so much!
I have made all of the favors from Bojangles and they all are awesome
Thank you so much for this recipe! I hadn’t thought about using vodka! I just didn’t want the taste of bourbon in my food! I will make this ♥️

Can I use whipped cream vodka

Ever clear by itself will burn the beans. It is 190 proof and must be diluted with water.. 70-90 proof liquor is best for extraction.

My vanilla is 1 year old. I’m over whelmed by the vodka flavor. It overpowers my Madagascar vanilla.
Is there anything I can do to help it?
Question! Do you remove the beans once it’s ready to use? Thanks Mama Sue! Where did you get your bottles?
Leave beans in bottle. Keep adding vodka, you want the beans to be submerged so they do not mold. This will last forever.

Thank you Mama Sue for sharing, I'm praying about this, what does Lord Jesus Christ Reveal about making home made vanilla ❤
4 ounces
Where did you get the little bottles??
You can try hobby lobby or dollar tree for bottles.

How long does it last for
It depends how often you use it. It will not go bad.
I add *nutmeg in mine and make 33 jars, then store them. Usually sell them for $9.39 add a cent for tax :-)
What size are your jars? 4 oz , 6 or 8?
