      Funniest thing was him holding his cursor on them multiple times. Really cracked me up!

    I think if you resolved the 49 pair at 17:45 you'd have found finishing the rest of the puzzle quite a bit easier. Whenever I find where a number is fixed (pair, triple, or for definite) I always do a quick scan for what the consequences of it are by checking the cells that interact with what I've found. I'm not sure if it's because you're filming as well as solving but not checking for these consequences is an issue I've seen on occassion throughout your videos. A similar thing happened with the 35 pair in the top left when you placed a 3 in the box below. In that case it didn't really affect the solve.

    Well, That was 2 hours pretty well spent. That was absolutely brutal for me. You figured out the 6-7-8 in box 1 much faster than I did, which is what held up my solve. Even after finally proving it after an hour in it still took time to solve out. I do love these types of challenges though :D

    If you look at the centre block of the left hand column and add up all the numbers contributing to it, they come to 58. That makes the fives extra cells outside of that block add up to 13 which restricts them considerably.

    Simon @20:35 "Sorry this is taking such a long time."
    Me, from the future with hour and a half videos: "Heh."

    I needed that original chain in the bottom 3 boxes to get anywhere useful, which was frustrating -- it's not the sort of thing I normally look for that early on in a killer sudoku, if ever. Lesson learned, I guess. From there could solve it on my own, though it took a long time.

    Well that was bloody hard. Used your start up to getting the 8 and then finished it in just under an hour. Awesome puzzle :D

    That r1c1 bothered me so much omg... How did you not fill that 35 sooner and you would get that 17 cage filled up...

    • @itsmeagain1745

      The 2, 7 in r3 got me (r3c3 r3c9) If you add all the complete cages across r1,2 &3 (boxes 1, 2 & 3) you get a total of 126, subtract from 135 (45 x 3) you get 9 (1+8, 2+7, 3+6, 4+5). It became apparent fairly soon that it had to be 2 & 7. Some of these row/column/box additions can get crazy at times though...
      ...Oh and shouting at the screen '8 and 2 bottom right' - the wife though lock-down fever had got me (April 2020)!

    WOW this one took me 2 hours to solve. I didn't watch the vid. I eventually figured out that R7 C1 and R7 C7 had only one sollution that wouldn't break the 30 box in Square 8. Then I figured out that the 14 box in and 17 box that shared square 4 only had one set of numbers that could fit. It took me so long to spot x.x. Gonna watch the vid now.

      Now I don't feel so bad about only getting a single digit in the first 30-40 minutes :) The first and only digit I got on my own was the 7 in A2 that he places at 12:45.

    I beg of you to use the capabilities of your software and use the centre and corner notations differently. Corner for Snyder notations and Centre if you want to list all possible candidates for that square. It makes it so hard to follow when the same notation is used to signify different things. Thank you! Love the channel

    I love killer sudoku. This puzzle had some beautiful symmetry, which I really appreciate.
    It is interesting to go back and see how different things were then on this channel, just 9 months ago! Glad to see that you are both now using Snyder notation, much easier to make sense of it.
    P.S. I always feel like I am cheating (myself) when I play on dailykillersudoku.com with the chart jumping right out at me like that ;-)

    I find it very difficult to solve killer sudokus on your software. It would be really great (although understandably difficult) if you could make some sort of menu which shows the possible combinations for a cage like on dialykillersudoku.com. Love the software for other types of puzzles though

    • @yahya092
      @yahya092 5 років тому +6

      Yeah I feel like dailykillersudoku spoiled me, I love their software. The only thing I dislike is the way I have to select the opposite number in a cell that has a pair of numbers (if that makes sense)

      Doug Melven I have site that has the possible combinations that I look at. But the dailykiller site is just so more convenient

    • @travholt
      @travholt 5 років тому +1

      Agree! The only other thing I would want over there is a way to mark and keep track of your own sum cages-maybe even disjoint ones. But I realize that the UI for doing this would be very hard to get right.

    • @patrickcheung4487
      @patrickcheung4487 5 років тому

      one of the reasons i dont try the sudokus on their site. i would be spending a lot of time thinking of number combinations making it so much more longer than required. but i do enjoy the videos immensely.

  • @BryanLeeWilliams

    I enjoyed the puzzle. But I can't solve it without the help of an interface like Daily Killer Sudoku. Not saying you should change your app. Just talking about my inability to figure out the combinations easily enough.

    At 10:05 is there a reason why 3 and 9 aren't an option?

    • @albertlyngpetersen8702
      @albertlyngpetersen8702 5 років тому +1

      r3c7 can't be a 9 (because of the 9 in the column) and if it was a 3 the to cells to the left would add up to 15. Unfortunately combined with the 30-cage in the box it would add up to 45 with one cell left (r1c4). Therefore 3 is not an option either. So it can't be 3 and 9.
