Did not get a chance over the weekend to get the to project. As well, it's been raining a great deal here in Vancouver and since my vehicle is parked outside, the rain makes it a bit more difficult. Thanks for the tip on the fuses and the offer to take a look at my issue further should I need to pull the head unit. I'll be getting to the fuses in the next day or two. Talk again soon.
What a great video man, you make it look so simple, I recently got a 2nd hand 1 series and want to out in a new stereo, and you've shown me how, thanks :D
Hi I’ve just bought a car bmw 1 series 2008 and the parrot Bluetooth is installed already. I’m trying to take this off, would I have to remove the CD player as it might be wired to that? Also could you show a video of it. Thanks!
Hello please help asap. Where will i get power from? I have a yellow power cable but dont know where to connect. Or will my new Pioneer player get power from the existings cabels/adapter? Mine does not work with just the old cabels etc. Does it mean i need to connect the yellow power cable to a source to get electricity?
PJ: Great video. I have a 2011 BMW 128i and would like to upgrade from the OEM head unit as well. It appears that I have the same BMW Professional system (Harmon Kardon) as you. Can you point me in the direction of a harness adaptor or at least the one you used for the retrofit upgrade so that I can too can use the stock amplifiers. I live in Canada and don't mind buying the necessary parts from Europe. I am only guessing that you reside in Europe. I'll check for a reply in the next week or so and thank you in advance for your assistance.
If you have steering wheel controls for volume/source and other bits it should be the item below, however BMW offer a range of steering wheels as upgrades when the cars are new so this kit will not work with some of the eighteen available 'M' range steering wheels, only the normal none 'M' range ones. If your car has the same audio system as the one in the video then the original radio should have the amp built in which means a normal adaptor should work like the second item I linked to(no steering controls). www.ebay.ca/itm/Autoleads-Steering-Wheel-Stalk-Control-Adaptor-For-BMW-1-3-5-6-7-Series-Z4-Mini/371831370305?hash=item5692e07241:g:Y6MAAOSwa~BYbQSq www.ebay.ca/itm/4-Head-0442-HU2a-s-Ready2Fit-Cable-for-ISO-Radio-BMW-1-Series/401439534243?hash=item5d77a92ca3:g:g4wAAOSwNm5ZsSq9
Thanks PJ. Appears that my audio system has an external amplifier as I called the local BMW dealer who had sold my vehicle originally. Not sure if the gear you have recommended will work with my system. BTW, I do have the basic 1 series steering wheel but I think the external amp may be an issue. Have you had experience with that? If so, please reply. Many thanks once again.
Yes the external amp will need a different adaptor, you will need to check if the amp is running just the rear speakers or all the speakers before knowing which adaptor you will need. The easy way to do this is either pull the fuse that runs the amp(not the main audio one) and see which speakers if any are still working or get the radio pulled out to see if the wiring block is full or part populated(if it has a full set of speaker wires). A photo clearly showing the connection to the radio would let me see which adaptor you would need.
hi , does the cp2-bm52 still allow the parking sensors to work i have the same car as in the video and noticed that car has parking sensors did they still work after instalation ?
No, the original parking sensor setup has it's audio going through the original radio. The kits that are compatible with parking sensors have a small speaker that you stash out of the way behind the dashboard. Such as this example from the US - www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Multi-2002-2015-SWC-Wire-Harness-Interface-for-Aftermarket-Radio-Install/253413375991?hash=item3b009d3ff7:g:vzUAAOSwImRYLdN0&vxp=mtr
Hello, how did you get Accessory power. I have a 1 series 2010 model and replaced the factory stereo with a pioneer car stereo using an adapter that came with the fascia. No where was accessory power cable. Only direct power. Thanks
The steering control adapter supplies a ignition switched live output so no extra power wiring is needed. If this was not being used then a ignition switched power output from the fuse box would be used or some people use the power from the cigarette lighter socket.
Hi PJS, great video, having an issue, I’m installing a Pioneer to BMW 1 series 2007, first issue, sound does not work but, the stereo turns on, steering wheel control works, but just no sound. Any held and advice? Please
I've got the exact same setup as you, brought the right cables and a sony stereo ,installed it all fine but I have no sound what so ever not even the beep of the radio when selecting ,can you help atall? Or does anyone know how to sort this please?
Will I need to connect that blue wire attached with the jack ? That's the only thing not being used, but I can find another blue wire to attach it too either
Crutchfield is suggesting a different array of parts to install an aftermarket stereo. Will they work the same as what you're showing? www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX255B/JVC-KD-X255BT.html
The radio in your link is a JVC single din and so should work just fine with the parts I used. Just make sure your car is not amplified before buying the cables. By this I mean that some BMW models have higher end radios fitted from new and as such have a separate amp to run the speakers instead of it being built in to the factory radio. If this is the case you would need a bypass cable. If Crutchfield have checked and found your car to be amplified then this would explain why they list different cables.
Yeah I watched this video expecting it to be some type of Android Auto LCD screen at the end like the Belsee or some knockoff. Instead it's an equally shitty radio swapped in... but one that fits the orange/black BMW motif less. I'm not quite sure what the point of that was. Good job doing it tho
Very handy video as I swapped one oem unit for another.

Iv done everthing in viedo but still no power on bbc stereo, any ideas
I can not remove the antenna cable behind the radio

Do you have to remove that first bit of trim, docent look like its needed?
Its looks like the system is just behind the trim about 2mm of the trim covering the stereo
Do I need a reversing sensor interface so my sensors still sound through the speakers? Where does that connect? Thanks in advance.
Yes you need an interface such as one of these - www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CTSBM006
Hi my stop start has stopped working is this because I've change me hu and if it is how do I get it working again what do I need to get

where can you find the fascia? I need one for the F20 series! (I have a car without the screen)
The antenna connector is tricky on mine.
