As a Burmese person, this video and the comments that I've read are disheartening. Before you blame Myanmar, you need to understand the political situation. Myanmar has been rattled by political mess after gaining independence from Britain because in 1962, the military launched a coup. This has led to a protest on July 7th 1962. Do you know what happened? The military killed over 100 students after cracking down on the dissentants and bombed the university building one day later. In 1988, over 100,000 people had been killed by the military after the 8888 uprising. Then in 1996, another protest was held to denounce the military junta but do you know what the military did? Killing people again. The junta are massacring not only Burmans but also other ethnic minorities such as Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan. The Rohingya situation is orchestrated by the military and Aung San Suu Kyi, who was recently deposed by the same military who committed genocide, cannot condemn the genocide. The 2008 constitution said that 25% of the seats were reserved by the military and they were the ones who controlled the power even Aung San Suu Kyi became the State Counsellor of Myanmar. The reason why she defended the military at ICJ in 2019, it's because she knew what was going to happen if she condemned it. In 2017, her Muslim legal advisor was assassinated by the military for opposing the 1982 citizenship law and she stayed silent because she was the next target by the military. Look what happened in Feb 2021. They launched a coup because of the 2020 election. They claim it is voter fraud because they want power. Myanmar is a politically complex country and only the people inside understand what's happening behind closed doors.
