which shade is the contour balm? I love that it has a yellow tone!
GUYS! Our mothers were telling us that we weren’t inventing anything new either when we put on low rise bell bottoms and listened to music with old samples. Let the kids have their fun. Every generation likes to make everything old new again.
I find it so hilarious that a lot of people think it's weird to apply bronzer or blush on bare skin, and then there's me who almost always does that and wears no foundation 😂
The "latte" trend makes me giggle because I've essentially worn the brown eyeshadows with bronzey look since I was a teen 😂
I only recently started branching out with different eyeshadow shades
I guess some young people can only relate to things like lattes lol.
I’m 48- we always put concealer on before foundation. It’s only since watching makeup tutorials on UA-cam that I started putting concealer over foundation…
I'm 58 and agree, this isn't new, but I think it's a bit updated. I never wore bronzer or highlighter back then. I did my take on this recently as well, using all affordable products and using nothing new. I think these colors can be so flattering on almost everyone. You can take it a little more cool or warm depending on what best suits your skin tone.
Scott Barnes has done this for years too. Underpainting is truly the epitome of trusting the process. 😂
Yes, can we give the credit to Scott Barnes?! 😭
I think it looks good I’m used to you looking fair but it doesn’t look bad but ya it’s more of a summer look I wear my makeup bronzed a lot but I’m used to seeing myself like that
Yes! It looks downright scary at first when underpainting. And I love Scott. He’s an amazing artist and quite the character lol
Actually it’s Kevyn Auqoin who created the underpainting technique
@@teresawilliams1201 i didn’t say scott barnes created it. just that he’d been doing it for years. 🩷
The 'Latte Look' reminds me of the 90's and Jennifer Aniston on Friends! She really embraced this look and vibe! I think it's universally flattering if you have the right tones for your complexion! ❤
I've been doing the "latte look" since the mid 90's. Crazy how all these trends keep cycling. But some influencers really shouldn't be taking credit for it.
Yes 🙌🏻
Exactly. Come up with something truly new. 🙄
@@stephb3321makeup has been around for thousands of years. You can’t possibly make up something truly new.
I was thinking the same thing! We did this back in the 90’s for sure!
The new generation recycles things and act like they created it.
Tati actually uses the method of applying contour and bronzer before applying foundation. It's a techniiue icallaed undderpainting that she learned ffrom makeuo artist Scott Barnnes. She absolutletly swears by it and she always ends uo looking incredible in the end.
I love how influencers use a bunch of concealer BUT then use a face tint like they’re barely using face makeup 😂!!!
when you said "gonna need more powder than that girl"🤣🤣
so hilarious, the new marketing schemes we have these days, name something after a food/drink and it will sell i.e. glaze donut nails, strawberry milk lips and latte make up😂😂😂
Also popsicle lips and glazed skin. All it does is make me hungry! I wonder what the next one will be. Frothy brows? Marshmallow cheeks? 😂
@@debbyd5729 I'm pretty sure today's laminated brow trend qualifies as frothy brows 🤣
Consumerism!
Shelby Wilson used fluffy brushes to lightly apply concealer/foundation. It’s so beautiful. I’ve done it and it keeps the base from feeling so heavy personally for me
the latte “trend” (which isn’t a trend, we’ve been doing bronzey makeup forever) has already moved passed to the “strawberry” trend now. 💗💗💗
Can you do your own spin on this new trend “latte makeup “ look using all drugstore affordable products? Thank you for all that you do ! I love watching your videos 🥰
I agree using all drugstore products would be great to see.
Like alot of others commenting, I’m in my 50s and the neutral look was “the look” in the 90s (especially after all that blue and other colorful makeup of the 80s 😂). We all had different takes on this look tho. I definitely do my makeup different now than I did back then. I have more knowledge and know how to work with my more mature skin. I use both fingers and tools (just fingers back when!) and my brows are definitely in a much better place lol. I always like to see the younger generations’ new take on the older generations’ trends. So much fun! Love the way your latte look turned out! You are stunning! Keep on shining girl! 💖💕💫
We are the same age and yes our fingers were our makeup tools! I’m from 🇦🇺 and unless we different products available than you, from what I recall when it came to eyeshadow we only ever used the little sponge applicators that came with the eyeshadows and blushes etc no extra tools. I think back and wonder how I didn’t leave the house looking like a clown 🤡 BUT Then again maybe I did 😂😂
@@nataliemarshall7158 oh yes! The little applicators that came with the shadows and blushes! We used those too 😂 I know I looked like a clown half the time. Pictures to prove it 🤦♀️ the 90s were much kinder to me. And omg the foundations we had 😳 I’m very fair and everything was too dark. Blending?? What was that? 🤣
@@aleigha9141 oh and the very worst time I looked like a clown I sadly have professional photos to prove it!! 😭
In the town I lived in, in the mid 80’s taking part in a Debutant Ball was still a very popular event and I too am am very fair and wearing a very stark pure white long dress my foundation looked like someone had troweled pure terracotta on my face! 😭😭🤣🤣🤣
@@nataliemarshall7158 oh nooooo! 🤭🫣 thank goodness those times are over!
I have watched many influencers who have been pushing the Rhode Glazing Milk. It is evident that they have received it in PR like you. You are the first to give an honest review on how greasy and shiny it feels and looks on the skin. Bravo!👏
Love an honest review ❤
This is because she later mixed that Glazed Milk with the tint again. I have oily skin and it is OK skincare it is not greasy.
This should trend should just be called 'recreating 90's makeup'...including the under painting. I love how there is a name for everything now
If you can name a product type or application method, it's more marketable. It's all about the sales and marketability.
I LOVE ALL THIS TRENDS ! Sometimes it get us to try something new. Its so fun and no harm done at all ☺☺☺
I love trends like this !
give me inspiration, I think that’s what it’s all about is being inspired again to use makeup from our own collection!
I’m 24 and have always done my concealer and liquid bronzer under my foundation. I found if I ever put it on top it would mess up the foundation bc it was already dry. But this is my fave method!! Glad to see it gaining popularity!!
This definitely reminds me of the beautiful neutral Kevyn Aucoin/Bobbi Brown looks from back in the day. I had both of their books and that was how I learned how to do my makeup! Love that stuff like this is circling back again! ❤ love you Jessie!
Big fluffer brush!!! Can’t stop laughing at that!! Never did concealer with big fluffer brush 😂❤
Jess, this way of doin the base is awesome 👏. My skin is loving it. Blue eyes and latte colours amazingballs.
Love this video, lil bit tutorial!!
You have done what most of us watching these videos do - we take what’s being shown and tweak it along the process to make it work for each of us, as we each have quirky differences. You did well, Jess, and I thought your result was great! Less “done” and much more natural. You did the right thing in taking down the shine.
I underpaint almost every day. It's SO forgiving for contour, blush and concealer. Then, you use sooo much less foundation product because you've already gotten coverage from the other products. Then, I use powder products on top of foundation, just to add pops of color and bronzer. Love it! Love that lip color on you!
oh oh my!! can't wait to see your take with latte makeup ❤ love you bestie
Love cream blush and just ordered the blush brush with your link, Jess. Thanks for sharing it!
I rolled my eyes at this trend too, and also it reminds me more of a classic fall type of makeup look rather than summer like many influencers have suggested
Was a vlog that was posted taken down or am I crazy? Lol I swear I was watching a new vlog from today and now I cant find it 😵💫
Same!!! Im so confused
People are mad about the sponsorship that was in it.
I really liked it! I agree, I feel this is a warm, fall look. You look beautiful! I personally don’t think I could do this many steps on the daily.
YES I feel like it’s a better look in the Fall too! Especially if you use neutral and cool tone brown shades which are more coffee tones imo. True bronze is different to me than brown and that I like in the summer 😊
Jessica you look gorgeous like always! I never comment on videos, but you’re definitely one of my favorites to watch 😊
I needed a cream blush brush recommendation! Thank you. I actually really like this look on you. It would be neat to do two photographs with same makeup, your traditional technique, and then the Latte technique, and see how they are different.
I think your eyes look great and I’m going to definitely give this look a try. Also liked the idea of putting the foundation on with a big fluffy brush
I love this look! Quick and easy. I recommend tho using Milani bellissimo bronze baked blush … omg it pulls the look together. Love your channel girl 💕
Zabrena did a 70s/Farrah Fawcett look years ago for her historically accurate series she use to do. It has this same feel. I loved it and still do it, but usually only in summer.
I love how genuine and down to earth you are Jess! Your videos really are the best! ❤️ sending love from South Africa
I'm 55, and we wore our makeup like this in the 90's. Haley Bieber or whatever her name is did not come up with this, or Mary Philips. This is so crazy. This is nothing new, but I guess it's fun for y'all....
Right?? We always put concealer under foundation!!
Right… i don’t get why this is always something new 😂 Everyone on the internet says they started something new and its just old news. 🤦🏻♀️
Thank you!!
It's new to someone. Stop being so offended and territorial about makeup looks. Just let a new generation play with makeup like you did. Geez, it's just makeup.
@@theeellebeeno we don’t. 🤣 I’m sure there’s things your generation tried to take credit for that you shouldn’t have. So shut up lmaooo
@itsjessicabraun can you tell me about the top you are wearing?? I love it and have been wanting one like that in that material for a while! Thanks 😊
I love that Clinique mascara! It's just so lovely and adds just enough for me to feel wowed. This trend is interesting to me. Like, it's trendy to bring back brown makeup, circa the release of the UD Naked palette. But I do say, love seeing it again. Forgot how much I loved this kind of look.
Could be the “iced latte look” for summer! Love it!! ☕️ Then again, I’m a teacher and love thematic looks and lessons! You look stunning!!! Keep with the trend and come up with your own trend setting look! 💗💄
This was fun 🤗 I definitely want to try that lip treatment!
Underpainting seems like such a waste of product in my opinion. Especially if you use a foundation on top, which is literally designed to cover what's underneath? And then you went on top with more bronzer? I guess I just don't understand the point. You put so many layers of product on your face, I can't imagine it's comfortable...
I’ve been wearing this type of makeup almost daily and on regular/“lazy” days haha I didn’t know it was even a trend until recently. Always takes a famous person to put a name on something simple and common.
I do like this trend. It’s right up your alley Jess.
Always love your videos 🥰
Ive been using Anisa brushes for years and that first brush u used to blend out ur concealer works incredible with setting powder for the face 😊
I'm obsessed with how your skin came out in this
Hi Jessica. I’ve been watching your videos for so long now. I never comment on anything but I wanted to Thank you for your content, you are a natural. You always make my day better. I have to say this: you look MUCH younger without eyeliner. ❤
I haven’t heard of this type of makeup application but I do love the bronze look in the summer and fall
OMG!!! I am literally doing the latte look right now!!!!! 😂 So crazy... Can't wait to see your interpretation of it!! 🩷
Having trends come back around is fun….. I enjoy seeing which ones are considered new and fun.
I have seen several iterations of this Latte trend. A few use yellow-brows as you did, but to my eye, a latte is less yellow and more of a cooler brown like your shirt. Some do not use blush, just bronzer, but essentially it it just a look with a brown smoky eye and bronze skin. It was nice to see you try it, I like the idea of following how a celebrity does their make-up, it's fun to watch. The underpainting technique has also been around for years and used by many celebrity makeup artists.
I've been doing the concealer as foundation for a couple weeks & love it. Using the ND as well...a HG for me.
You look really pretty with these bronze tones!
I totally agree this gives fall vibes to me
I just got a bunch of Anisa brushes and LOVE them! I wasn't crazy about the eye brushes, but the face brushes 🔥💣💯
It’s called “under painting” - contouring and highlighting (concealer) under/before foundation. Scott Barnes. He’s fabulous to learn how to under paint really well.
Fun video idea. I like that you were willing to try different techniques
What shade are you using of the natasha denona concealer? Love this video it turned out so beautiful!! 🥰
Really enjoyed this ! Clinique mascara one of my favs although I try many others have to be careful …
sensitive to ingredients .
Jessica, I like when you do you! This is not my favorite post and it doesn’t seem like it is yours either!
When your love for Jessica overpowers anything Hailey (watched the whole thing).❤️ This look turned out great, I too chuckled when you first put the contour on!! And then when you said you looked like a scarecrow!!!😂😂
I’ve done under painting for maybe 8 years now I find I use so much less foundation because I apply my concealer first. I also don’t stress as much blending and everything looks nice and diffused when I’m done. Kevin Aucoyn and Scott Barnes are the 2 notable artists who do this I believe, but I actually started doing it because of Sam Ravandahl and I’ve never gone back!
Very excited for this video! 🍂 🍁
Dangerous by that white sofa. 😂
This is the 3rd look I've seen done, though it's not a new thing, as has been mentioned in others comments. It was definitely good to watch & I like your interpretation; you look beautiful, as always 😊 That's a lot of makeup though. I think things could be modified for sure. A lot of it isn't for me. I like glittery/glowy eyes, but my pores would be visible from space if I used that much glowy items on the rest of my face 😆 I love the bronzer, especially on the eyes. But so many layers! Your lips looked amazing! Lastly, I get late summer into fall with this look.
Love the underpainting technique ❤ i almost use it every time i do whole face of make up...my skin looks flawless and fresh, like my skin but better...also use less foundation... wears whole day...use laguna bronzer or make up by mario,perfection...love this video❤
the makeup forever palette seems like a lot of shades but maybe not helpful since the undertone or shade could so easily not work. But you look so cute in this makeup!!
@itsjessicabraun.... I do totally agree with you on the "latte look".
I also did the 🙄eyeroll when I first saw it rolling out. Lol
I do love the latte trend, but I feel the need to add some pop if color, I camt do just browns. Lol
I'm an 80's teen, and used to colors. Lol
I’m loving the idea of a “cherry latte” or “matcha latte” inspired look!
I actually do my makeup that way, even my blush goes under. I do use a blush topper on top though. I'm 67 and have found this looks very natural and does not show my flaws. I use the missha BB on top rather than foundation
Ok but the overlined lips suit you so well!!!
I think these Tik Tok makeup trends are kind of silly. Now there’s the “strawberry girl” makeup. But maybe I’m just 30 and too old for this stuff 😂
I’ve heard tomato girl too. Crazy!!
I so agree!
@@janettehale3109LMAO at the tomato girl look 😂😂 ala sunburn
I like the cute catchy names for these trends, simply because it “romanticizes” the mundane. But the overall idea of viral trends like this is kinda laughable when it just becomes swarms of people doing copy/paste every 4 weeks 😅
However, it’s fun to try out the trends and take away what appeals to you once and a while. Especially when it’s something as classic as the “latte” look!
Love watching your videos! 🌟
Was so happy to see another vid from you today! I like the latte makeup because it’s more natural looking but definitely nothing new I feel like Tik Tok makes everything seem new lol. But anyway still pretty ! Where’s your shirt from? I’ve seen it on you before in videos but can’t seem to find a link for it?
Happy Weekend 😊
Can't wait to see your interpertation of this look!
Curious what microphone you use for your videos. Your sound quality is amazing! ❤️
I skip foundation every day. I start by adding color through blush and bronzer and then spot conceal. I love leaving parts of my face free of makeup that don’t need it. You never have to worry about a shade match either 👍🏻
I’ve been aware of this trend since one month or two but I think it is older than that. The warm bronzer color is very nice on you, the glow too.
Anyway, thank you for trying something different, it’s always interesting.
This look is beautiful on you!!
I hadn’t heard of the trend but when you explained it I was like “oh it’s just what my mom was doing in the 90s/early 2000s” 😂 I have done cream contour before base before but only found that it was worth it if I was using a sheer coverage product. Otherwise it felt like a waste of time and product. To make it work you have to use so much contour and I just don’t want that much layered on my face! This look is beautiful on you, but you always look beautiful, makeup or not! This was fun to watch just like all your videos 💙
my new favorite tip is mixing the peptide glazing fluid in with your foundation, it makes it sheer out in the most beautiful way!! such a great product
This is my literal every day simple quick look.
@jessica- what top do you have on in this video and the 50+ empties video? Love both. Thanks.
Late girl, cold girl, warm girl, cucumber girl, cool girl etc makeup! Where does it end 😂
I had to laugh because I loved the Clinique mascara on your lashes and you weren’t too thrilled with it. 😅.
I really like these tones on you!
I love the glow though ❤
Great take on the trend! Kinda want that lip product now...
I also did this Style many years ago. Nowadays I think, it makes you look older and not that fresh as normally. Thx for the video, I loved it. 🙋🏻♀️👍❤️
I mean, the latte look is not a new look…it’s a classic neutral look and has been around forever.
Every generation has their new names
for everything.
@alliebat exactly. Remember when everyone was 'strobing' aka just using highlighter
She didn’t say new look she said viral.
I agree with you. This truly is nothing new.
@@skylars9722 I didn’t say she said ‘new’, but everyone gets the gist.
I’d like to say thank you for all your vids. Watch almost everything you and Tyler publish. This video though def not a fave you’re def not into doing it from the start and throughout the vid the vibe didn’t change. For loyal followers if you’re not into a trend don’t force it on our behalf. Like how it turned out but you’re beautiful no matter what makeup you do. ❤❤
First learned about under painting from Scott Barnes. It looks great!
I have to say that glazing milk is a lovely product. I was so much more impressed with it than I thought I would be. Would be interested to know what you think!
Honestly it's not a trend . Just a natural eye look that they just put a name on it to make it trendy. Juicyjas loved her eyelook
I agree with you that I don’t think the initial bronzing step is necessary. It did seem like it blended away after you added concealer and foundation; however, I do think you look beautiful!!
I was giggling at first, not gonna lie. 😂 But you did a fabulous job and the look is gorgeous on you!!
Fun video, trying trendy looks. Latte look is a snooze though, definitely already played around with browns. Browns always feel/look demure on me, maybe my coloring.
