    Note: 03:31 Beginning July 1st, 2024, the Chase Sapphire Reserve will no longer have access to restaurants, cafes, and markets participating in Priority Pass Select.
    Also at 08:25, PP restaurant benefit ending on July 1st, 2024.
    This video was recorded before the announced Priority Pass changes on the CSR.

      @@TheCreditFrog at this point, priority pass might as well just sell itself entirely. It's safe to say that, a number of travel credit cards are just wasting perks and benefits to all its customers and cardholders. If I was one of the CSR applicants, I would regret my decision to apply in the first place

    Definitely makes sense with your choice being a Biz Card in order to extend the period of being under 5/24. I've been thinking about going Ink Preferred over Sapphire Preferred for awhile, and I think that discussion will continue to accelerate as I travel more and the 3x general travel category continues to add value. In the CSR argument, I'm right with you in that Travel Partners is the most important benefit to me, and so going for the CSR doesn't make a ton of sense/is necessary. Great video as always Stan!

      Thanks so much Matt! I think when it comes to Chase transfer partners, I'm on Team Ink Preferred for sure. The bigger question I have to ask myself now is if I want to get the IHG Premier Business first since I recorded this video before that new elevated offer came out. Not sure which one will be next, but I'm definitely sure I'll be getting the CIP before the CSR!

    Also I saw your question about the IHG biz vs Ink preferred. I think it comes down to if you have any immediate need for Chase transfer partners. If so, grab the preferred. If not, I’d jump on the elevated IHG biz offer and then get the preferred after. I imagine it’s hella tempting to use those Chase points, but if you don’t truly need them rn, might as well get some extra IHG points first!

I'll probably make a video about my choice soon, but yeah, that IHG Business welcome offer is VERY tempting.

    Great video and perfect decision. I was just approved for the Ink Preferred a few weeks back. I’m a commercial photographer and have a larger production coming up that I’m already in pre-production for - so all of my expenses for crew travel/hotels and rentals will go on that to hit the 8K spend for the 100K bonus.
    NOTE I applied in branch because I am over 5/24 until July. So I wanted to up my odds of getting approved with my business banker seeing as they could call in if needed. We ended up having to, but that was only because they needed to double check, a date on my business license but thankfully I was approved fairly quickly.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 місяців тому +1

      Oh, hey congrats, Jeff, on the CIP 🎉! Sounds like you have a lot of spend coming up so that's great you're able to capture that with a welcome offer card - how exciting to have a big project coming up! That's awesome you were able to get it while over 5/24!
      I'm always super-hesitant to risk it because I would hate to have a hard pull on my account with nothing to show for it, but the persistence/gamble paid off for you! Maybe I need to be a better risk taker, haha! I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in a pickle and may want to have a CIP if I got some larger expenses coming up!

    • @JeffNewton
      @JeffNewton 5 місяців тому

      @@TheCreditFrog Oh yeah man, the hard pull sucked for sure. I’ve been trying to keep those to a minimum- since were considering, purchasing a second vehicle. But I felt that this was worth the risk because of the 100K bonus on the reduced 8K spend. I’ve had the Ink Unlimited for over two years now and have been wanting this card forever, but the 15K previous requirement was a bit too much for my risk threshold.

    CIP is pretty good at travel earning, but you still need to put your rental car expenses on ur Ritz Carlton card, it’s even slightly better than USBAR and BOA Premium Rewards Elite. CIP’s primary CDW is more or less like CSP which is pretty vague about what is NOT covered, it’s a Visa Signature card after all. Unless you use MS Platinum then this is irrelevant.
    If Chase ever releases a Reserve version of the Ink card I will ditch CSR immediately.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, that would be super cool to have an ultra premium version of the CIP (Ink Premier doesn't count since those points don't usually combine). Personally, I plan on using my USBAR for primary auto rental CDW since it's got this nice double-dip feature where you get 3X on the charge, but since they usually charge an incidental hold, this triggers the 1.5X RTR too so you can potentially get a bigger redemption on the card provided that you have enough base points to start. Learned that trick from Mr. Dugroz!

    • @zsm5833
      @zsm5833 5 місяців тому

      @@TheCreditFrog be careful about using USBAR, the primary CDW coverage duration is different from the Ritz Carlton card. USBAR’s primary CDW is Visa Infinite default benefit, which only covers up 15 consecutive days per rental within the US and 31 consecutive days outside US. The Ritz and CSR meanwhile is 31 conservative days per rental regardless what country u r in or go to. (excluding those countries that require mandatory purchase on primary CDW)

    Hey Stan, random question for ya. I just got he Citi Checking account ($300 sub) and I have the Citi Custom Cash already as well. I was wondering since I have the Citi Checking account, will that make me more likely to get the Citi Premier next year? Assuming I keep the checking account open. I wonder if it helps a lot to have several existing Citi products first before applying for the Premier. I like the idea of the Premier because later it can be downgraded to a card I can use like the double cash or citi rewards card. Not so much interested in downgrading a chase sapphire preferred to freedom OG or freedom unlimited -- already have a freedom flex.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 місяців тому

      Your guess is as good as mine! But I will say that having a Citi checking account would be more helpful than not when it comes to additional card approvals. I think the most important factor is going to be the number of new accounts and hard pulls prior to your application. In general, the lower the better! I would strive to have 0-2 new accounts/hard pulls in the last 6 months before the Citi application to maximize chances, but again this is a YMMV situation based on available data points.

    Does business credit card have a hard inquiry when you already have a Chase card in your setup?

      Yes, sadly, all Chase card applications result in a hard pull regardless of how many Chase cards you have.

      @@TheCreditFrog I believe I will open a CD account with US Bank on Wednesday and then apply for the U.S. Altitude Reserve in September after that I will wait until August 2025 and apply for the Chase Ink Preferred, Unlimited, Cash and the Sapphire Reserve or Preferred, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex and then the Hyatt Business and Hyatt Personal and then wait until under 5/24 and get another Chase Ink Preferred under a different EIN. I believe I should space the business cards every 3 to 4 months? Plenty of time to plan when you are over Chase 5/24 for 2 years. It really controls the velocity of applications.

    I wonder if Chase would ever make a business version of the Sapphire Reserve (Ink Reserve?).

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  2 місяці тому +1

      That would be awesome! They kind of have that with the Ink Premier, but that card doesn’t count because of the UR transfer issue.
