We all have pest battles! With squirrels it's just the thrill of the newly turned dirt. One year I put 200 spring bulbs out front. Organized them in lovely little color clumps for a big impact when they bloomed...Also sizes were organized short to tall. Over night the squirrels dug up my day long task....ugh. So back in went the bulbs willy nilly because they mostly looked alike at that point. Guess what, it was a nice show in the spring. But that's what made me learn the chickenwire trick.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hi Robin. That was a masterclass on sowing bulbs and protecting them from the weather and from squirrels. Love your Wisconsin place. What a view on the shoreline. Take care. Mags
Thanks Mags, we do love it up at the Wisconsin place in the winter months especially (fewer tourists). My brother helped me clear the lower branches on the trees to help the view last month. We have a different rhythm up here than when we are at home. It's really like being on a super convenient vacation. 🥰🥰🥰
TY. 🥰 What's cool about the chickenwire defense, is that I can leave it on for a while in the spring and the garlic will just find a way to work through the holes. Once up about 4-5" I need to remove it.
Oh Elizabeth I got soooo excited, plus they were 50% off!!! I like to use cobalt blue around the garden, pots etc. ....I feel like it makes the other plant colors pop.🤩
Just remember which ones are which 🤭🤭 come harvest time garlic or daffodils. The spring garden is going to look absolutely stunning Robin and great helper there Al 💪. Hope it’s a mild week for you we have a storm warning for tonight and tomorrow 😢😢, Ali 🌧️🥶🇨🇦
Colder at night coming. Probably a hard frost or 2. But we're due....been so mild this fall compared to normal. Yup Al is a real trooper helping feed my need to garden LOL😀🥰🤣
Hi Robin, we’ve just had to protect our elephant garlic for the first time thanks to the squirrels 🐿️ didn’t happen last year so they can’t have been as hungry then. Won’t know until the grow how many they ate 😅 Nice few leeks there ❤ Have a good weekend ☺️ Allie & Tricia xx
Typically with the garlic they just want to dig in the freshly dug area. Maybe they think another animal buried something there? Danny said we'll be on his live together...YAY!
Great update Robin, at this time of year all we can do is a miss mash of things. I hope your bulbs do well. What a lovely view of the water you have, there's something very peaceful about being by water isn't there? Take care 😊
Nice one Robin. I have the opposite problem with squirrels, they bury things in my garden - not take them LOL I keep finding monkey nuts that he stole from people's bird feeders!
Oh they do that too. One spring I had a lone black tulip come up with mine......then I saw my neighbor and asked what color she planted the fall before....black of course.
Job well done, hope they all come up when you want them to. I heard someone say squirrels dig up bulbs because they notice the soil has been dug and they think it's another squirrel who's buried a nut. I don't know, I find it strange they don't use their sense of smell and just have to nibble on all the bulbs. Well, whatever reason, hope your bulbs are safe with this method.
Lol, I did a crazy thing and just ordered more bulbs because they marked them down again. The temps finally are diving and I will be out there with a pick and ax😂😂 Won’t be the first time.
@@RobinGardens I got them today! I started planting but didn’t get far so that’s what I will be doing on turkey day. I never grew anemones and there was little info but did say for Z5. It’s mixed info on these corms.
Good question. I looked them up and this organically grown alfalfa is from non-GMO seed. Makes sense because the only reason they would need GMO is to be pesticide resistant.
Fantastic presentation, Robin Gardens! Looks and sounds amazing! Excellent sharing. Continued success. God bless.
TY! I do love my garlic. So to get it, I need to defend from the squirrels....they are such stinkers in my garden.
It’s a bulb kind of day! Great job!
Late but not too late. TY for commenting!
Gosh Robin! I can't believe you have to do all this to protect your garlic. Your waves bed is stunning. My favourite! Danny 🌱

Yes!
Robin that’s a great way to plant garlic, very informative video 👍👍

Well I'm glad you found the mish mash interesting. 🥰 Yes, we're blessed to have a great escape place.
I shall look forward to seeing how that looks next year.
Me too!🥰🙂

TY. Yes this method works well to stop the mischief. That's probably the case...or they love to annoy me, and that works.🤣🤣

@@dustyflats3832 I've had Japanese anemones for years. I got them as plants though.
Are the tdueblue gmo orgenetically engineered?
