- 2023 ended on a low note as we fell to a second successive London derby defeat as Fulham came from behind to win 2-1 at Craven Cottage.
That was despite Bukayo Saka putting us in front four minutes into the contest, but Raul Jimenez pulled the teams level before half-time and Bobby De Cordova-Reid then poked the ball home after a corner wasn’t cleared to complete the turnaround.

It happened at West Ham and now with Fulham. When Arsenal players are pressured they do not know what to do and often give the ball away and have the ball nicked off them. Too many loose passes in this game and loose balls are stared at. They stopped pressing aggressively. Again, they tried to thread the ball through tight spaces and have it come off the right hand. This has been a nice Christmas present to West Ham and Fulham.

Arsenal should’ve signed another CF in the summer instead of relying on our diminutive CFs, which made our attack too predictable due to no hold-up play. Arteta also didn’t keep Marquinhos or sign another inverted-RW to compete with Saka, which made Saka too comfortable with his place in the starting lineup

I just missed Giroud and his strong hold-up play/ aerial ability. Diminutive CFs like Jesus or Nketiah can't penetrate human walls near the opposing team's penalty box, but a more physically-dominant CF should be able to disrupt the walls with his strength and aerial prowess

Why would you keep a player like kiwior on the field if he isn't really doing zinchenko's job correctly (creating spaces for odeegaard and havertz, getting the ball to the wingers), and also hasn't been strong defensively (poor positioning and marking on the first goal). Trossard purpose was to fill that zinchenko gap in the field and also be the skillfull energetic super sub of the match. Btw im not saying arteta was correct and his subs were efficient. His decisions were poor and in general the whole team was poor. This loses were expected to come. The team lost concentration. This is way its important to get wingers, midfielders, and specially attackers this transfers window. We cannot let players like saka and zinchenko relax on their spot. They need competition. Specially gabriel jesus. Arsenal needs a new deadly striker like haaland if they want to win the league

The performances throughout the season have been poor and not enjoyable to watch.

Please pattern up and fix things.
1. Is that a beef between ESR and Arteta? Arteta puts Nelson over ESR in the selection of substitution in the recent two matches which is literally a joke. ESR is the special element that could possibliy help Arsenal in attack why not try him? In West Ham game game he showed some fast moving and technique ability when taking on Trossard. If Arteta did rate Nelson than ESR, sell ESR in January and don't waste the talent. In terms of football wisdom, technique skills, vision and positioning, Nelson is definitely not that level to compete with ESR.
2. Trossard was in poor form for at least three matches. The substitution was always getting worser than Martinelli playing in the pitch. Basically we did not have any attack after Martinelli was off the pitch.
3. Saka lost all the football instinct this season. What is the reason of how he could still keep the starting XI considering his poor form? For West ham and Fulham games Arteta should keep Martinelli instead of Saka to play the whole matches.
I don't know what Areta sees in Nelson. I didn't rate him since Emery. He doesn't have skills. Only pace.

For no more than 4-5 days ago the comment sections were packed with euphoric blue-eyed sofa experts proclaiming every touch by Declan Rice world class before during and after every single game during desember. Usually followed by lots of fans highlighting the world class defence lead by Magelhas in addition to Artetas genious leadership. And after Havertz first few goals he also suddenly found himself firmly established as a world class baller in yet another pink clouded fan sentiment. It comes as no surprise though since every match as well as season is an emotional rollercoster for every success starved and hope crushed fans following the dismal last couple of decades. As the reply from the gentleman above expresses, gaining some perspective after all so far is very much possible. Almost each and every one of the PL teams face periods of struggle and frustration during a long hard season. Lately the results have been against both the general direction of play and chances created. Imo, Ode (and others) still provides and creates enough opportunities for this team to currently win every game no matter opponents. BUT all the strikers on top are so far lightyears away in terms of expected performance, quality, ability, stability and statistic effectiveness. I believe they will be back soon, and also work on the issues at hand. At least better struggle now than towards the end of season. Go gunners!

Abysmal performance. The players get so complacent after we take the lead. There is no conviction or aggression in the attack and Saka or Martinelli always end up backpassing instead of taking on their man to create something.
We brought on Nketiah because of Jesus's latest performance and yet we don't change up our playstyle to suit his strengths. We still try these clever threaded through balls and what not when we should be crossing it fox-in-the-box style which is what we predominately did last season when Jesus was out injured.
We've now lost 4 games this season in the league with away matches to the likes of City, Spurs, etc.
January is make or break for the rest of the season and we really need to strengthen our squad with a clinical striker and midfield + leftback reinforcements. The title challenge is basically done with City planning to go on their 15 game win streak with KDB and Haaland coming back from injury, but we can still compete for more UCL football and try give City a run for their money. City are heavily favored in these current circumstances so lets focus on what we can achieve and keep pushing for a strong season in 24/25.

I watched this game live for the new year and I have to say this is one of the worst new years I ever had
I said this last season and am saying it again, Arteta is stubborn! Jesus and Nketiah are crap and we have no proper strikers in this team! Saka has become too predictable and in my opinion is not good enough. Our game tilts towards Saka alienating Martinelli largely, you can read martinelli's body language. He seems frustrated and out of sorts. Odegaard seems to going in circles instead of making direct passes. I hate it when players blame each other on the pitch. Declan creating that atmosphere is really a bad thing! Even our reliable sub Trossard is now struggling! What's happening to this team? Ben White too who was underrated now seems overrated! David Raya must be benched! Arteta can't handle the pressure and it has trickled down to the players! Call a spade a spade! If a player is not performing as par, bench him! ESR deserves more game time, he ain't getting any! I'd leave if I were him!
