What does that mean. I watched the movie when I was really young. What does the skag don't rate. And he also says something about a scrubba? He's done it again this time it's a scrubba
@psycho'si carter I heard similar about him. They did lose a couple of stuntguys on that film but I think that one dude got a concussion. His helmet saved him.
Here's my backstory for the bikers: Toecutter likely grew up upper middle class. We was probably a popular kid who was more interested in partying and causing trouble than applying himself. When he came of age his parents had enough of his antics and forced him to join the military. Zanetti was probably from a lower middle class family with conservative values. He was a good student but had basically no friends as his antisocial personality does not draw people to him (perhaps the result of an anxiety?). The military was an obvious choice for him. When Zanetti completed his training he was assigned to the same post as Toecutter, who was already just as popular and looked up to as in his school days. My guess is he was the classic "Sgt. Bilko" type running various scams, swiping supplies etc. This eventually caught up with him and he was booted from the army, but not before taking the young and impressionable Zanetti under his wing. When TC returned home, the world collapse was already beginning in earnest. He reconnected with some of his old troublemaking buddies (including one particularly crazy bloke who liked to top speed around the roads all night long while high on meth) and with his leadership they began graduating to more serious levels of crime. Over the next few years he earned his moniker stomping out smaller gangs and growing his influence. Zanetti completed his service and joined the MFP, but was quickly disillusioned by the increasing ineffectiveness it showed in stopping the social decay around them. His personality was growing more cold and unlikeable, once again isolating himself from his colleagues. Eventually a chance encounter brought him back into contact with his old army buddy, now the infamous Toecutter. He is instantly drawn back into the influence of TC's magnanimous personality, now more powerful than ever, and is impressed by characters like the Nightrider who follow him into the newly emerging social order. When the Nightrider goes on a particularly nasty bender and ends up killing an MFP officer, it spells the beginning of the end for the gang, however. Toecutter foolishly jumped the gun in his efforts to groom a new fearsome legend in the unstable and impulsive Johnny, not realizing that in doing so they had fucked with someone crazier than all of them put together.
A little extra about Toecutter: He's the only member of his gang who has a conscience and has an education, him being the mastermind is why he's the leader despite Bubba being deadly and dangerous enough to be Max's equal. (Also, he has an estranged brother who was a former cop turned cult leader: Immortan Joe.)
I know right; not enough praise for Bubba. Was always fascinated by the relationship between him and the Toecutter. It's speculated that both were once part of the bronze, based on there gear and demeanor's.
I just realized after years and years of watching this great film that the reason Bubba knows it's a "scrubber", is because his leak from the police force told him. Just like the leak told them where May's house was after they contacted Ziggy about the hand on the car. And why there was a guy in MFP wear hanging with the gang on the beach. But with this scene I never put two and two together, of how would he know it's a "scrubber" unless someone told him. On a related sidetone, Bubba would be the guy with the intel as his outfit makes him seem like an ex-police or MFP. This film is just the tops.
But it's not for him Bubba. Its for me. Mad Max is the Ducks Guts mate. The MM 45th Anniversary that was held at Maryborough Racecourse was friggen awesome.
Ahh...yes. The Devil (The Toecutter), wanted to teach a potential young little Demon (Johnny the boy), about the Bad Guys life on the road...and on the run from the Law. Sooooo...he sends one of his Demon Lieutenants(Bubba), back after the young "Prospect".
I doubt it was done on purpose, but I think it's kind of interesting how the only time we see the stoic Bubba get angry and yell, we can't see his face.
Imagine being sent back, to get a seemingly worthless young sprout, like Johnny The Boy, somebody that you personally despise, and bringing him back to somebody that's as equally worthless as Johnny The Boy, that being The Toe-Cutter. That was one ruthless parasite of a human being, and, if you think about it, The Toe-Cutter, and Johnny The Boy, are both equally as worthless as the other! Bubba, though, isn't much better than either of these two human ticks! Bubba's just as bad as both of them put together...if not worse!
@@ronaldshank7589 That is the plot of the movie. The scripted reason that the gang is supposed to be so bad is that they are the former kids of people arrested by cops. All except Johnny who is there just because the gang leader wants him there.

I was always curious as to why toecutter would have so much patience with Johnny. It is very clear that he has much more competent members. Yet he would send one of his best back for Johnny. I can only guess that toecutter saw something in Johnny that looked promising, or he somehow owed Johnny some kind of favor. All of this makes me wish we could have gotten a backstory on the bike gang. Even going into Kight Rider's stealing the pursuit special.
Because Toecutter is a psychopath and a dominant person. He enjoys the domination in a sexual relationship and power and control over others. Unlike the other's Johnny could become his pet like a slave. He obviously had a sexual relationship with him and he got off on "training him" to be a perfect slave/partner and member of the gang. The other guys knew Toecutter was the boss and intimidating and still did everything he commanded since he was their leader, but not the way Johnny was being groomed to become a serious murderer who would do anything he told him, which he did.
The way Bubba loses his temper and mentions how Johnny is nothing like the Nightrider, leads me to believe he may be a younger brother, or perhaps other relation to him.
@@pyramidhead8659 Bubba was right, too. Johnny the boy was way too timid to be in The Toecutter's gang. He's a weakling! There was about 20 members of this gang but only 7 or so do all of the bad things and end up getting killed when Max crashes into them. Or maybe they don't die who knows. @@Frisbieinstein Right before it got worse. Then they lost everything again and probably joined gangs like the Gay Boy Berzerkers or the Smegma Crazies.

Riiight so it's the american dub i grew up with. Better then "it's a scrubber". Probably the original would be better if i saw it first but "he's stoned again,he's never gonna learn" rules for me.

If you should...lose the face...you got nuthin'!
There was about 20 members of this gang but only 7 or so do all of the bad things and end up getting killed when Max crashes into them. Or maybe they don't die who knows. But Max never went after the entire gang.
What were the rest of the gang members doing during all of that and where did they go after?
They became realtors.
@@Frisbieinstein Right before it got worse. Then they lost everything again and probably joined gangs like the Gay Boy Berzerkers or the Smegma Crazies.
I used to have the biggest crush on toecutter when I was a teen.
LOL, @ 0:10 the Toe Cutter drops his hand and his head n frustration at being asked to pull over.....
RIP
What is a 'scrubber'?
I notice that when we first see Toecutter, Bubba and Johnny are the ones who walk with him. I wonder if Bubba fears that Toecutter will replace him with Johnny at some point.
I'm sure that what was left of the Night Rider had sloshed to the bottom of that tilted coffin.
So what is a scrubber anyway?
According to the English dictionary its slang for a promiscuous woman, however I think in this case it means "we need to scrub (rid) him of our gang".
I believe in the American release, dubbed in American, bubba says, Johnny the boy is still at the wreck, stoned again, he's never gonna learn.
Yep.
TheGodParticle That is correct, I have the bluray collection which contains both dubs of Mad Max 1
Riiight so it's the american dub i grew up with. Better then "it's a scrubber". Probably the original would be better if i saw it first but "he's stoned again,he's never gonna learn" rules for me.
nightrider sounds like a whiny limpdick in the aus version........and they amped up the v8 sounds in the am version
It literally makes no sense for him to say that. At what point in the movie is johnny ever implied to be stoned? Scrubber is an Australian slang word if americans dont understand it, tough luck. Americans like to change everyone else's stuff into their own twisted creaton just to say they did it better with an exaggerated chest pumping stars ans stripes wank fest of themselves. The most culturally ignorant and illiterate people on earth.
This movie was the reason I wanted a motorcycle....
Love those old Japanese metrics that were impossible to kill.
No lock on missiles in free aim!
