The love of and humor of rock n roll all on one delightful LP. The critics hated it so you KNOW it is GREAT!!!! KEITH MOON WAS A FORCE OF NATURE with a good side and a bad one... 2 Sides of the Moon! It's a number one!!! A Keith MOON solo lp. Thanks to all for recording, for posting, for remembering, etc. He's on his way..... He's solid gold!

I love this album! It's actually punk rock.... just a few years from The Damned and the Pistols and many others with "limited" singing ability just getting out there and doing it! That's Rock and roll! The version of The Kids are Alright is amazing! Keith was one of a kind!

I was in a band that worked with the producer of this album and he told us some insane stories about what it was like to work with Keith.
The story that I remember most was one day while trying to get the vocal down for Don't Worry Baby, Keith liked to do his vocals with the lights off and he was frustrated with his performance and was drunk.
Then things got strangely quiet for a few seconds... suddenly, a champagne bottle came flying through the huge studio glass window...session over

Keith sounds as good as Daltrey! Most people don't know this but The Who song "Bucket T" with Keith singing lead was released as a single in Sweden and went to #1! He remains my favorite R&R personality, and certainly "the greatest drummer who has ever lived"! His version of "The Kids Are Alright" is as energetic as The Who's original version and just as good! And, I think that is Daltrey's best lead vocal! I've seen the original band in concert in 1968 and 1971! You really had to be alive then to appreciate how truly great Keith was! If not for Keith The Who would have 'never' made it!

Although he didn't intend it that way, he DOES have a "punky" or "young, loud and snotty" ambiance to his voice. One can argue over his vocal quality, but, hey - it's f***ing Keith Moon! Anything we're fortunate enough to see, hear or smell that he left behind is priceless! (I AM noticing that if he played his own drums on "Crazy Like a Fox," it was one of his most restrained recording efforts!)

Put in context, it's not nearly the disaster it's always written up to be. He's clearly no singer, never was. You can hear the emphasis on the female backup singers and the de-emphasis by adding reverb to his voice. Compared to the utterly horrendous musical landscape today, this would be a classic.

For those of us who were alive when this album was made, and knew the Who very well, this album did come off as a novelty. But listening to it almost 50 years later, it sounds like a classic compared to what is being called pop music today. Keith always reminded me of the kid who couldn’t help being funny because that was just him but to the rest of the world he was a goof ball. Sometimes I think in public he was self fulfilling a prophecy; it was probably one of his reasons for his abuse of alcohol.

In fact, Keith Moon did record a second solo album that was never properly finished and remained unreleased until "Two Sides of the Moon" was released as a double CD. He also recorded his vocales on a version of the Beatles "When I am 64" that was included on the "All This and World War II" album. A fantastic album of Beatle covers by Peter Gabriel, Ambrosia, Bee Gees, Elton John and many more. Keith Moon also did lead vocals on some songs recorded by The Who such as "Buckett T", ""Jaguar", "I Need You", "Wasp Man", "Fiddle About" (on the Tommy Soundtrack), Girls Eyes and some said "Armenia City in the Skies" . I think the Producer is to blame that he did not pushed Keith Moon to reach new limits.

Do agree....you have to hear Keith Moon singing The Beatles "When i am 64" from the All This and World War Two soundtrack....

After 36 years of being a diehard WHO fan I can say this album is WAY better than I expected , but Moonie should of stuck to the drums! Too bad it wasn't what it should have been. KM LIVES ON!!!

Surprisingly well produced. I came here expecting complete awfulness, but this is highly professional. Moon can't sing the slow numbers, but in the rock numbers he's fine.

This album would have sounded great if it had the involvement of Spencer Davis, Jesse Ed Davis, Jay Ferguson, Fanny, Patti Quatro, Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, Miguel Ferrer, John Sebastian, Flo & Eddie, Ricky Nelson, Mal Evans, David Foster, Jim Keltner, Dick Dale, Bobby Keys, Klaus Voormann and Harry Nilsson... Oh, wait...

Never heard this before. I actually quite enjoyed it , sounds like it should be the soundtrack to a 1970,s feelgood Brit movie
After reading about it before listening , I was expecting a real dog's breakfast of an album but it isn't.

I read in Howard Kaylan's book that Brian Wilson burst into TEARS when he heard what Moon did to "Don't Worry, Baby".

Good thing, Brian Wilson doesn't take a ringside seat in every Tom, Dick, Harry and Sally's shower: We ALL sound like this. AND we all bought Beach Boy albums.
