Basically the best part of the movie was an afterthought. How uninspired rogue one would have been without the last scene. And completely disagree about 7 and 8. My two favorites. So easy to discredit anything new.
Anyone could have pulled that lever! The real hero was the guy who accepted that his death was at hand and shoved the plans through the door. *"TAKE IT"* He died with the hope that something greater than himself would live on.
Yeah handing a person a card through a 4 inch gap is easy . But dealing with a heavy lever , a complicated bit of sci -fi machinery , under extreme stress that he must of had years of training for to operate . You have to admit its impressive . His Star Wars Name is : All Cann Doo . Action Figure available this Summer , comes with free lever playset .
It's not that scary. That really scares you?? Do you not sleep at night because of this new information that you learned? Come on. Don't let movies change your life this drastically.
I think he would fit for a show with a dark undertone like The Mandalorian as well, because he has proven that he can make some pretty dark stuff without it being non-star wars like. Also, he accomplished making people feel nostalgic without going The Force Awakens and copying a former story. Therefor he has my respect and I hope a long good carreer as filmmaker is awaiting him.
@The Most Extraordinary P & P Gamers A scene can be praised when the right decision is made. Kennedy got this scene made but she made terrible errors in TLJ which is why people don't like that movie.
Man the terror in the dudes voice when he screams "LAUNCH!!" and just the panic of them all stumbling around desperately trying to escape. Such a powerful scene in it's execution and subtleties.
They don't know that (well, technically, its probably just Vader or Sidious intuition). They can't trace hyperspace, and they have no way to know that the first corellian corvette they cross path with (a common ship) is the one that previously fled. And nowhere its said that EP4 happen like just a few minutes after. As far as we know, severals days could separate both actions.
@Walker Productions the last jedi was cool. But for those canon fans who bought all the starwars backstory and comics would want to kill disney for destroying the story. For me(i didnt watch the cartoons and the comics) i think the original trilogy is an adventure, the prequel is a description of high end civilization, also about politics, and the last jedi trilogy is about philosophy. Seeing luke bcame a useless junk is what might actually happens in real life.
Princess Leia: I don't know what you're talking about I'm on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan. Darth Vader: *I JUST SAW YOU ESCAPE BEFORE MY OWN EYES!!!*
Not denying it had good scenes, and I like the whole idea of Anakin being a good person but slowly turning evil, but I feel like it could have been done better as a movie. Script wasn't good, acting wasn't good, cgi wasn't good, stuff like that. I think the story could have been very similar, but with a different director and cast, and been a really good movie.
I don't know many that love this movie, I've spoken to people who are like "it was good...but". Personally I Iove it. Almost the best Star Wars for me, my number one being Revenge of the Sith (yep, for some reason ROTS really got to me). Rogue One didn't have flashy jedi fights, typical popular Star Wars stuff, but the plot, and characters, and the pace...it was perfection. The biggest thing for me was the significance of what was happening in the movie within the whole Skywalker saga...that was the best thing about it overall.
@@MChief123 Vader was always badass ,but to be honest ,seeing the most iconic villan of all time as a young boy in the phantom menace was a little bit desapointing
I would like to thank the director for this scene in the movie. All my memories of watching and being a fan of Star Wars as a child came rushing back to me with this totally unexpected entrance of Vader. Goosebumps and I teared up. Probably the best ever entrance of Vader , how the light saber comes up and the silhouette and the ease with which he handles the fire. There never was and there never will be anyone like Darth Vader.
Wan Khizer might be my favorite Vader scene of all time. Nothing crazy fancy. Just shear power. Vader walks through those troops like they are nothing but a moderate inconvenience.
Cut this scene? Are you insane? I don't want to live in a world where this scene doesn't drop my jaw every time I watch it! This is Darth Vader, one of the most iconic villains in all of cinema, at his absolute best! He's gigantic! He's terrifying! He's powerful! We've never seen him on the big screen except fighting Jedi or intimidating his subordinates with long distance throat hugs before. This shows what happens when there are no Jedi for him to tangle with. He annihilates average soldiers with effortless ease. This scene shows exactly why people fear him and I love it to death!
No. It's out of character for who Vader was at this point. Tons of EU books supporting this. What this scene is junk and nothing more than fan service.
I remember my reaction being "Well that explains why he was so pissed off at the start of A New Hope..." Anakin had been a joke for so long, then they made him legit terrifying in this scene.
If you want more of the dark enforcer of the Empire as he is in this scene (his badass self), I can only advise you to read the Vader 2016 comics, they're amazing
Yeah ever since that infamous "noooooo" scene he was kind of a joke. Then came this scene of just destroying a bunch of rebels like he was Jason Vorhees.
I feel this scene could potentially become one of the most famous scenes in Star Wars film history and that's not something I would have thought of in anything beyond the original trilogy.
agreed, first ever star wars scene ive watched over two dozen times. star wars has many great fight scenes (yoda vs sidious, anakin vs obiwon (pre chopped up)) but this is just beautiful
True but it also means after the prequel series (which I personally like) that the new Star Wars story creators and directors have finally found their footing in expanding the Star Wars universe. I'm hope we get to see more scenes this amazing and memorable in the upcoming films, especially the Last Jedi.
sadly, despite all the awesomeness and badassery in this scene, the true most famous scene is the "no, i am your father". Truth being told, thats the 2nd most important scene in the whole story (the 1st one is the treachery of anakin to mace windu, bascily the success of palpatine's plans, wich ironicaly, kinda sucks). Remember, rogue one is about star wars, but star wars is about the skywalker family.
ElectricEdgewave192 i feel exactly the same way as you. Check out my review if you can't get enough of everyone else's perspective of Star Wars 😆 - moviereviewforyou2017.wordpress.com/
I was seriously reeling at this scene for days. It's like something out of a horror movie! After so much damage to Vader's reputation as a bad ass villain, they finally made him truly terrifying again.
People love it because of Darth Vadar being a total badass, but i love the scene because of the whole movie and the desperation of everyone working together to get that message to the rebels, even in the face of an enemy such as vadar when he's cutting through all of them like cake they're still passing on the message it's such a fucking awesome scene
The people who made Rogue one, need to be the only people in charge of the future of star wars, Rogue One is the absolute best new star wars film.... it's absolutely amazing. I will also give the Game Of Thrones writer's a chance, but these guys truly understand star wars.....
I sort of agree. Most of what I said did come from the fact I have read all the extended universe books and comics both legends and canon with vader. And that really fleshed him out. Sure he is still ok and fleshed out from only the movies but no where near to the same extent.
He's basicially saying "I made sure I survived so I could sort of be in the original Star Wars movie. I'm waiting for my action figure. You may release it when ready." LOL
I used to think of Vader as a cool guy, pretty iconic, and Luke's dad. Because I saw the prequels, I could never think of anakin to be scary. But this scene made me feel some of the fear the rebellion feels towards Vader
This is the guy that SHOULD have directed the trilogy. You can see he's so passionate about Star Wars and honestly - Rogue One is more Star Wars than The Last Jedi ever could be. This scene alone is oozing more Star Wars than TLJ. Its impossible to believe that Kathleen thinks this is a good scene and simultaneously thinks TLJ is a good move.
Gareth Edwards was a legend and respected the lore perhaps even more than George Lucas... He has a brilliant eye for bringing out the old Star Wars aesthetic in a modern way. I really wish they had kept him onboard for more films.
Setting the epicness of the most epic scene in cinematic history it retcons a major flaw in the OT: That DV was a stiff decrepit cripple who relied on the Choke, because that's about all he had left. The greatest fear in the Galaxy (With Palpatine hiding in the shadows until the end as is his MO) memetic Badass Bobba Fett is intimidated by him, and what did he have to back that up? Presence. He's an imposing figure, and ruled through Intimidation. We needed to be reminded of Why he is hands down the most feared person in the Galaxy. Also, he had every advantage in that fight. It was made for him, the corridor made it a cakewalk for him to parry every blaster bolt, and mow through them like the scythe he is. It's a melee, against a bunch of terrified irregulars with pistols in the dark, with no escape. It couldn't have ended any other way, but really, we needed that big splashy show of Force because in decades of hearing how powerful he was, we never actually got to see it. That has been a gross oversight from the beginning. Finally, Darth fucking Vader, lord of Sith lives up to his fearsome reputation. The only Sin here is we didn't have more of it before this.
If they ever made it (and fuck yeah they should!) it could possibly be the single highest grossing movie of all time. Add a few good cameos and holy shit you have a megablockbuster.
Never before has a scene over whelmed me as much as this, Rogue one is easily one of the most underrated films out there. Even if your not a star wars fan there's so much to be appreciated. The way Edwards describes how he put together a scene/movie is genius.
So what he is saying is: The Best Darth Vader Moment in all of the Star Wars Movies, and also the best 1½ minute In the entire Star Wars universe, was a mere afterthought and almost didn't happen..... Im so glad that it did, To me (unlike extremely many people) Rogue one wasn't the best SW movie of all time, But that scene, totally made up for it.
In ANH you see a group of rebel trooper prisoners being escorted. Perhaps he is one of them. Went on to live a long and meaningless life on an Imperial prison mining planet.
GreyHulk2 I know if after Vader got so mad stuff exploded it would of been more compelling if he just kinda fell to the floor silently in sad reflection of Padime, Then got up with fury to fuck the Jedi a new one. But at least we verbally heard his thoughts.
What made Rogue One and this scene memorable was that it brought context to things we've heard for years in all other SW films, but never truly understood. They said many times that a lot of people died to obtain the Death Star plans.. Holy molly, Tarkin pulverized thousands of people, including his own! Then they said of how fearful Darth Vader was, and this scene proves it. You didn't need to see blood and body parts flying on the air, but the actors' fear told it all. Vader was unstoppable. It is so important to have a truly scary villain in a movie, otherwise the audience will not get involved. We didn't know any about these guys, but their fear got us all into the scene.
The whole sequence of scenes while the song 'Your father would be proud', plays, starting with the shield being taken down by the ship falling into it, is just amazing. Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie ever!
Every time I watch this scene it triggers my fight or flight , gives me goosebumps. As another comment said the music and the sheer terror and panic of the rebels trying to escape truly makes this a masterpiece. Vader most badass villian of all time
The best scene from the entire movie. I remembered everybody having a nerdgasm the first time they saw it on the movie theatre. Now the question is: "Will Disney take down this video because of the Vader scene at the end?"
nd4spd because the copyright system in UA-cam and false claims are an issue. People get copyright striked for using footage of an indie game THEY developed or even worse, because they talk about a movie. That's why
nd4spd agreed; however, that won't stop a false copyright claim or DMCA BOT from flagging and taking the video down without reason. Just google search #WTFU
I'm aware of the issues with the automated copyright system on UA-cam I just assume channels of this size have a way of excluding themselves from being searched by it.

This was the realization that all of those legends were true and there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it all at once.

I really wish they had kept him onboard for more films.
Even my wife thought that scene was badass, that's how badass that scene was.
I want a 3 hours movie of Darth Vader slauthering rebels scums!

He's still in A New Hope though ;)
Robert Diaz actually not all the Rebels were killed when the Tantive 4 was boarder
Yeah, some were captured, tortured by the imperium until they told them all they knew and THEN killed!
Robert Diaz He could have been one of the Rebel prisoners. And was then transferred to the Death Star Detention Block..... yeah he's dead.
In ANH you see a group of rebel trooper prisoners being escorted. Perhaps he is one of them. Went on to live a long and meaningless life on an Imperial prison mining planet.
This man is legendary, he took the chip prop just so he could say “I stole the Death Star plans..” Mad lad!

GreyHulk2 George will, just give him time.
GreyHulk2 I know if after Vader got so mad stuff exploded it would of been more compelling if he just kinda fell to the floor silently in sad reflection of Padime, Then got up with fury to fuck the Jedi a new one. But at least we verbally heard his thoughts.
LAAAUNCH!!! So much primal fear in that one line.
That scene gave me chills. It was an awesome moment and I love how they gave Darth Vader some shine.
Gareth should direct all new star wars movies, they guy knows his business.
Maybe he change Rey from being a Mary Sue.
