This is so crazy watching a video like this talking about the future...from the 80s. When they mentioned the 1992 "future expansion" that really took me a moment to process lol. But I will say, Dulles does have the benefit of having a MASSIVE amount of land that they can access, so that right there is really cool
Is this from 1991? It mentioned a future expansion in 1992, as well as mentioning returning soldiers, so I have to assume that is a passing reference to the Persian Gulf War just concluded.
1:26 that's the Center for Innovative Technology, I see it whenever I'm passing IAD on Route 28, I've seen it all my life, it's a local landmark, but I've never been there. 3:26 that's runway 12/30, the crosswind runway. 4:06 the last time I saw a turboprop at DCA was several years ago. 5:046:26 they're great facilities, I've used them. 5:57 long, long gone. 6:047:06 they're somewhat confusing, though, they twist and turn a lot. 6:40 that doesn't exist anymore, though there is currently runway 15/33; that's where, near the 15 end of this runway, on the Mount Vernon bike trail near the George Washington Parkway, you can be standing just a few hundred feet away from aircraft - landside. It's a truly amazing experience. In fact, there's a blast fence at the edge of this runway just a few dozen feet away from the trail, you're just that close to aircraft there. 8:48 they're not painted like that anymore, they're all white now. 9:25 that's where the A/B Concourse is. 9:38 that's 19L. 10:58 that's since been replaced. There are no longer flights from IAD to Islip, Fayetteville, and Newport News. 11:31 that's the AeroTrain of today - it's mostly replaced the mobile lounges, though the illustration is quite off. 11:38 that's what the A/B Concourse is, though, again, the illustrations barely look like what they do in reality. 12:01 as recently as several years ago, that was still being considered. Spoiler alert: it hasn't happened. 12:08 that was opened on November 20, 2008, it's the shortest of IAD's runways. 12:41 I see that building a lot when I'm in Reston, I've seen it all my life. 12:49 looks super familiar, but I don't know exactly what and where it is. 12:56 looks like it might be somewhere near Herndon.

12:56 is either Lake Thoreau, Lake Anne, or Lake Newport in Reston.
Love seeing Concorde at 8:41!
I wish they could build the C / D terminal replacement
💯
Of course they’re replacing the United Express section of A first 🙄 .
@WoodJack99 A full replacement not a partial 🙄
Where did you find this video? Do you have more MWAA videos?
Love the music
It's funny seeing what Reagan looked like before I was born.
Even funnier now that they've added a fifth terminal.
