People talk about ghosts having a fast ttk when CoD4-MW2 had stopping power 2 shot full auto rifles, snipers that had ar level ads times, and insane explosives. Then BO1 had 4 full auto guns that, to this day, can't be matched in the Famas, Aug, rapid fire mp5k and ak74u.
To be fair to people liking cod WW2 more: It wasn't very good the first 3-4 months until they fixed the MP. It became considerably better game afterwards.
@@bigsamiabs8416 Yeah, once they fixed all the issues a few months in the game got really good. By that point though most people quit and still bash it hard. WW2 was no WaW, but it is still vastly superior to every COD since then.

I agree with you! The Black Ops series is still continuing to add more characters and eras to the Black Ops universe so it feels new but the MW series has no where to go and in a few years, Black Ops will hav nowhere else to go either after these next 2-3 games! They need to venture out and start making things new and exciting. I agree with you that if they do make a new series, the game won’t sell as well and fans won’t like it simply because of their nostalgia keeping them from liking it! It’s the community's fault and also corporate greed banking off of fans nostalgia. Looking forward to BO6 though.
AW was my personal least favorite of the advanced movement cods but it is still better than a lot of the recent Call of Duty’s! Also, I want it just because sledgehammer wants it and they’ll be inspired to make a great game

I am planning on having the community rank multiplayer and zombies maps! Just not everyone because that would take really long. Having the community rank the top 25 weapons took me 5 months to do (because I want each poll to get at least 10k votes which means I have delay putting up the next poll sometimes). I’d probably do top 25 again and hope for people to vote on polls quicker! But first I’m finishing up the community ranking the top 10 cod characters!
here what i think the problem is basically its us we dont want new want something we already know. the problem with the modern warfare series is welp it has to be set in the modern times. while black ops doesn't have a set time because the name black ops is just black operation so the story can take a lot of different paths. I agree ghost story should have continued i liked ghosts but the only problem i didn't like about it was the large maps.
would've want to see cod with iw movement because titanfall 2 campaign is strange (i completed it) and titanfall 2 multiplayer community is meh. Titanfall 2 replayability is not enough for me.

I don’t forget that but while the supply drops were bad, the 1 improvement was that none of the weapons in supply drops were superior to the best base weapons, like they were in AW.

It doesn’t matter if the weapons were good or not because in BO3’s entire lifecycle, I only ever managed to get one unique ranged weapon (the banshee) and one unique melee weapon (whatever the sacrificial dagger was called). I was unlucky enough to get duplicates on a later guaranteed ranged crate and guaranteed melee weapon crate. For me, BO3 functionally had no post launch weapons. Even if the guns were terrible, I would still have wanted to try them out or mess around and make meme class setups because I enjoy experimenting with off-meta weapons. This is something I was able to do often in AW compounded by the fact that the weapon variety was at an all time high in that game. People joke about AW just being “BAL of duty” but I was out here doing just fine with niche weapons like the NA-45

It’s because nearly every single COD game that hasn’t been a MW/Black Ops sequel has had significant drops in sales. Ghosts, Infinite Warfare, WWII, and Vangaurd could barely catch up. So therefore, Activision is forcing the studios to stick with the same titles. Which leads to games like MWIII where nobody really wanted to develop the game, but they were forced to.
Yep that’s the biggest reason! It’s our fault in large part due to how we spend our money on cod and it leads to worse games being made now because the developers don’t care
AW sold really good back when it released and revived interest in 2014. BO3 and IW soured people with only doing future games. Had Treyarch and IW stuck to their eras, AW sub series may have happened. And I hope that rebooted AW or AW2 is Sledgehammers next game. COD needs a bit of a shake up and by 2027 i am sure we will be sick of 90s/00/2010 era games.

i enjoyed every cod from bo1 to bo4 honestly other then IW, i was just bored of it and wanted to try mw1 og for the first time and it was just more fun. and ghost is a top 3 cod for me and ww2 is a top 10 which isn't much when their 17 real titles

I think it has to do with them being very shallow and directionless. Uninspired and trend chasing entries that also pioneered some of the worst practices of the industry in the 2010s. Ghosts was needlessly edgy and took itself too seriously when it was rather stupid and shallow. MP tried to slow things down and become a little more tactical but it ended up rewarding camping and hiding a lot. Advanced Warfare tried to mimic Titanfall a lot while also heavily leaning into a generic futuristic aesthetic. Lootboxes and weapon variants exclusive to them became a huge problem. Black Ops 3 followed a lot of what AW did. It's not really a follow up to BO2, too far removed, too silly again. Infinite Warfare seemed like a desperate entry and was welcomed as such. It has no real visual or stylistic identity, it is typical 2010s space movie aesthetics. On the gameplay front it was an entry further chasing the mobility shooter trend. WWII was heavily influenced by the backslash that the mobility shooter "jetpack" cods got. Despite addressing some of these criticism, it retained user/costumer unfriendly practices, such as random drops, lootboxes and pay to win elements. BO4 was another trend chaser that no longer had a campaign mode and tried to carve a piece out of the then up and coming battle royale craze. MW2019 while also looking at where the industry was, took a more stern step towards establishing an identity for itself and was met with positivity because of that. In retrospect, 4 games later it may have been a lightning in a bottle kind of deal.
I'm just going to say my rankings for each CoD here just to get people talking since we honestly need to talk about each one: (Yes I'm proving your point of what I call the best CoD) S: Black Ops 2, Black Ops 3, Modern Warfare 2 (2009) A: Black Ops, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Black Ops 4, Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare 3 (2011) B: World at War, Black Ops: Cold War, Advanced Warfare C: World War II, Modern Warfare 3 (2023), Modern Warfare (2019), Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty D: Call of Duty 3, Ghosts, Modern Warfare 2 (2022) E: Vanguard Reasons for some of these rankings: Black Ops 3 Yes the Campaign is terrible, but we can't ignore what Black Ops 3 did correct. Multiplayer is very refined to the point that it is still the most gameplay expression focused CoD to date even over Black Ops 2. The Zombies and Multiplayer effectively infinite content because of the Steam Workshop on PC. The content that is in the Zombies is the best in the series outright. The campaign is the reason that BO2 is overall the better game, but you just can't ignore the Zombies or the Multiplayer being as good as they are even if we got "Train go boom." Black Ops 4 Blackout was great for those who like Battle Royals, the Multiplayer was a little less polished than BO 2 or 3, but I think the ideas were good, and the Zombies was a bit too complicated for a new player on a base level so I can understand the issues with it. It's still overall a great game, but I can't ignore the underlying issues with the game. Infinite Warfare I honestly may still be underrating this game where I placed this, but I am going with where I put it here at the moment. The campaign has the best characters in the series, even the robots have personality. The story is really good, and was overshadowed by nostalgia from CoD 4. The zombies mode is mechanically better than even BO3 in some ways, like the perk system being the best perk system in CoD history. The Multiplayer isn't bad, it just has issues like with worse balance and maps. On top of it, if you buy the season pass you get something like 10 weapons for free that were in supply drops. Not defending the supply drops though. Modern Warfare 3 (2023) The reason this is over Modern Warfare (2019) is because of better map design because of the reused maps and less grindy gameplay in terms of attachments. Does it have the worst Campaign in the franchise? Yes. Does the zombies mode suck to most people? Also yes. But the simple thing is that MW3 at its biggest staple is done better. If EOMM wasn't in MW3 and it had better servers I'd put it just above World War II. The matchmaking of the last 5 CoD games has held them all back from being better. We need either Connection Based Matchmaking or weak Skill Based Matchmaking. Weak SBMM being BO2 or BO3 matchmaking. If you want to know what EOMM is, it is Engagement Optimised Matchmaking. This form of matchmaking has been used since at the earliest Black Ops 4 (Which we honestly can't tell for certain on that one), but guaranteed in Modern Warfare (2019) to Modern Warfare 3 (2023). It is designed to keep you playing and often times rigs losses and wins just so that everyone is around a 1 Kill Death or Win Loss ratio depending on the mode. Here are the things EOMM does: - Team Balancing based on a hidden ELO/MMR system - Placing Players within a specific skill area based on a hidden ELO/MMR system - Aims to "Equalize" the experience for everyone - Aims for games that are predatory toward the "Just one more game" mentality as it keeps them on longer by giving them just enough loses for the casual player to feel worse - Puts competitive players in more losing games as it preys upon their drive to become better. Yes the current matchmaking is this disgusting.
Technically 2009 was the year when cod when at its peak for best selling since then, with modern warfare 2 the original one there’s not a lot of people that play call of duty 4 and world at war compared to everything after that also, the reason why we’re mostly stuck with black ops and modern warfare cods is because it’s what the fans always want more than World War II shooters and futuristic jet pack ones they all want boots on the ground in a modern time shooter like today Cold War is similar to modern time because the Russians are the bad guys in the story just like how it is for America in real life the past several or few decades
i actually like non mw and black ops call of duties more (especially ghosts and aw), ghosts was my first cod and I've actually fallen in love, and I don't want to say that oldschool mw and black ops series is bad but I just simply didn't really grew up with these titles

Doesn't need an 8 minute long video. The answer is brand recognition. It's the same reason they tried to brand CW with "Black Ops", except not a single person called it that. MW19 was nothing like the OG CoD4 and none of these other games come closer either. It's literally just brand recognition. Even guys like Capcom are doing it, by taking a crappy third person shooter and calling it "RE4" and such. It's an easy way to get everyone on board.
In modern warfare 19's defense where are they supposed to go? Everybody but price was dead and the original people that made the story left the studio so it would be really hard to continue that. So the best option was probably a reboot
The best idea, in my opinion for the players and the developers. Is to create a new game give us all the black ops and modern warfare weapons. The price being 60 dollars for the full game. Have supply drop weapons like b03 but not overpowered like AE or IW. No silly skins. Boots on the ground combat,a mixture of old and brand new killstreaks. For example a emp kill streak that disables enemy minimap and kill streaks for 30 seconds. Make everything in the game op. Finally no sbmm instead connection based matchmaking with non disbanding lobbies. There is a cashcow for the shareholders and happy players. Also specalist packages.
Ill sum up this unnecessarily long 8 minute video with a sentence: Business execs hate what risks to their bottom line and keep recycling what worked before.
COD need to move away from the action movie mentality first if it wants to find a clear and coherent identity to itself again. Namely, it needs to harken back to the interactive documentary mentality of the first three CODs covering historical wars outside of World War 2. There are plenty of proxy wars and regional conflicts throughout the 20th century with the drama that could fill a COD campaign. But the devs either are not aware of it, or can’t hope to make a viable sales pitch of those to Activision because the community keeps yammering for MW and Black Ops nostalgia of 2007-2011.
Because the players shit on Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare despite the three of these games having some of the best campaigns/Singleplayer in COD history. As a result, activision is too afraid to invest on new universes/worlds so they just get IW to keep churning out retconned MW entries lol. I also feel sorry for treyarch, theyve essentially made the same game since 2009 (black ops). Cold War campaign was awesome though, but id be totally ok with BO3 and Bo4 not existing.
Even if we're "stuck" with Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer at least tried new IPs in Ghosts, Infinite Warfare and Advanced Warfare. Treyarch can't help but milk the Black Ops franchise
A cod ghost 2 would most definitely be welcomed even an advanced warfare 2. Honestly the Modern warfare series needs to take a break. They should have just kept with formula like Black ops and added to the timeline after Makarov.
I just want a futuristic CoD (that doesn't have jet packs). I don't care what universe it's in. Bringing back ultimate abilities would be nice as well. I'm sure I'm in the minority on both of these.

For the longest time, Infinity Ward was my favorite studio, because they made the greatest gaming trilogy of all time (in my opinion) but now it is treyarch due to IW pissing on the OG’s legacy. I honestly hope Treyarch makes a non black ops game since they haven’t made one, and treyarch is everyone’s favorite

The fanbase has been fickle for YEARS. Give it time and they'll flip flop on their ideas. I remember when Blops1 came out, people said it was too slow and they ruined quickscoping... original MW3 came out and people said it's MW2.5 and worse than original MW2... every year, there was a petty complaint... When WW2 came out and we got boots on the ground again, people complained about that game too. People will call COD dead but they're the same group to say the same about Fortnite and everyone FPS or battle royale
WW2 is such an under appreciated game. It's the last Cod I genuinely enjoyed and grinded tf out of. The movement wasn't really the issue, I mean yeah it could have been a tiny bit faster, but really not much different to the OG MW2, Bo1 etc, just the maps on WW2 were the worst part of that game, either too big or just poorly designed, there are a few stand outs of good maps though, but less than half unfortunately. I feel like if the game released with the post overhaul divisions, better maps, and if Fortnite didn't come out the same time, WW2 would have been a very successful game, and more people would look back on it fondly like I do. I still play it here and there, the game is pretty dead though, least in Australia I can only get 4 bar lobbies on Shipment, but the gameplay of WW2 is so fun.
Here's what I want them to do end the reboot saga with the New MW4 by killing Makarov again then end Black ops saga at BO7 in 2030s when menendez escapes prison with a campaign which explores his origins. I want call of duty ghosts 2 I just wanna see what Rorke idea for kidnapping your character to work with the south American Federation. A prequel to Advanced warfare with the rise of Atlas Corporation where you play as Mitchell in the US marines in his early army life, Jonathan irons and Gideon with Atlas so we can shoot setinal and the Terrorist threats.
Because they think it's all what people want, but eventually it gets tiring. Imo we need to go back to advanced movement, but it's not the money maker for activision

It’s because nearly every single COD game that hasn’t been a MW/Black Ops sequel has had significant drops in sales. Ghosts, Infinite Warfare, WWII, and Vangaurd could barely catch up. So therefore, Activision is forcing the studios to stick with the same titles. Which leads to games like MWIII where nobody really wanted to develop the game, but they were forced to.
Yep that’s the biggest reason! It’s our fault in large part due to how we spend our money on cod and it leads to worse games being made now because the developers don’t care
AW sold really good back when it released and revived interest in 2014. BO3 and IW soured people with only doing future games. Had Treyarch and IW stuck to their eras, AW sub series may have happened. And I hope that rebooted AW or AW2 is Sledgehammers next game. COD needs a bit of a shake up and by 2027 i am sure we will be sick of 90s/00/2010 era games.

tbf it would be a breath of fresh air if they released an futuristic cod, I am not saying iw and aw were that good, but it would feel nice if they took that risk, and it would feel different despite running on the cod hq engine. New MW3 is a top 3 best multiplayer cod of all time. Way better than MW19 Multiplayer
i enjoyed every cod from bo1 to bo4 honestly other then IW, i was just bored of it and wanted to try mw1 og for the first time and it was just more fun. and ghost is a top 3 cod for me and ww2 is a top 10 which isn't much when their 17 real titles

I think it has to do with them being very shallow and directionless. Uninspired and trend chasing entries that also pioneered some of the worst practices of the industry in the 2010s.
Ghosts was needlessly edgy and took itself too seriously when it was rather stupid and shallow. MP tried to slow things down and become a little more tactical but it ended up rewarding camping and hiding a lot.
Advanced Warfare tried to mimic Titanfall a lot while also heavily leaning into a generic futuristic aesthetic. Lootboxes and weapon variants exclusive to them became a huge problem.
Black Ops 3 followed a lot of what AW did. It's not really a follow up to BO2, too far removed, too silly again.
Infinite Warfare seemed like a desperate entry and was welcomed as such. It has no real visual or stylistic identity, it is typical 2010s space movie aesthetics. On the gameplay front it was an entry further chasing the mobility shooter trend.
WWII was heavily influenced by the backslash that the mobility shooter "jetpack" cods got. Despite addressing some of these criticism, it retained user/costumer unfriendly practices, such as random drops, lootboxes and pay to win elements.
BO4 was another trend chaser that no longer had a campaign mode and tried to carve a piece out of the then up and coming battle royale craze.
MW2019 while also looking at where the industry was, took a more stern step towards establishing an identity for itself and was met with positivity because of that. In retrospect, 4 games later it may have been a lightning in a bottle kind of deal.
Personally I want to go back to the future

Reasons for some of these rankings:
Black Ops 3
Yes the Campaign is terrible, but we can't ignore what Black Ops 3 did correct. Multiplayer is very refined to the point that it is still the most gameplay expression focused CoD to date even over Black Ops 2. The Zombies and Multiplayer effectively infinite content because of the Steam Workshop on PC. The content that is in the Zombies is the best in the series outright. The campaign is the reason that BO2 is overall the better game, but you just can't ignore the Zombies or the Multiplayer being as good as they are even if we got "Train go boom."
Black Ops 4
Blackout was great for those who like Battle Royals, the Multiplayer was a little less polished than BO 2 or 3, but I think the ideas were good, and the Zombies was a bit too complicated for a new player on a base level so I can understand the issues with it. It's still overall a great game, but I can't ignore the underlying issues with the game.
Infinite Warfare
I honestly may still be underrating this game where I placed this, but I am going with where I put it here at the moment. The campaign has the best characters in the series, even the robots have personality. The story is really good, and was overshadowed by nostalgia from CoD 4. The zombies mode is mechanically better than even BO3 in some ways, like the perk system being the best perk system in CoD history. The Multiplayer isn't bad, it just has issues like with worse balance and maps. On top of it, if you buy the season pass you get something like 10 weapons for free that were in supply drops. Not defending the supply drops though.
Modern Warfare 3 (2023)
The reason this is over Modern Warfare (2019) is because of better map design because of the reused maps and less grindy gameplay in terms of attachments. Does it have the worst Campaign in the franchise? Yes. Does the zombies mode suck to most people? Also yes. But the simple thing is that MW3 at its biggest staple is done better. If EOMM wasn't in MW3 and it had better servers I'd put it just above World War II. The matchmaking of the last 5 CoD games has held them all back from being better. We need either Connection Based Matchmaking or weak Skill Based Matchmaking. Weak SBMM being BO2 or BO3 matchmaking.
If you want to know what EOMM is, it is Engagement Optimised Matchmaking. This form of matchmaking has been used since at the earliest Black Ops 4 (Which we honestly can't tell for certain on that one), but guaranteed in Modern Warfare (2019) to Modern Warfare 3 (2023). It is designed to keep you playing and often times rigs losses and wins just so that everyone is around a 1 Kill Death or Win Loss ratio depending on the mode. Here are the things EOMM does:
- Team Balancing based on a hidden ELO/MMR system
- Placing Players within a specific skill area based on a hidden ELO/MMR system
- Aims to "Equalize" the experience for everyone
- Aims for games that are predatory toward the "Just one more game" mentality as it keeps them on longer by giving them just enough loses for the casual player to feel worse
- Puts competitive players in more losing games as it preys upon their drive to become better.
Yes the current matchmaking is this disgusting.

Technically 2009 was the year when cod when at its peak for best selling since then, with modern warfare 2 the original one there’s not a lot of people that play call of duty 4 and world at war compared to everything after that also, the reason why we’re mostly stuck with black ops and modern warfare cods is because it’s what the fans always want more than World War II shooters and futuristic jet pack ones they all want boots on the ground in a modern time shooter like today Cold War is similar to modern time because the Russians are the bad guys in the story just like how it is for America in real life the past several or few decades

Doesn't need an 8 minute long video. The answer is brand recognition. It's the same reason they tried to brand CW with "Black Ops", except not a single person called it that. MW19 was nothing like the OG CoD4 and none of these other games come closer either. It's literally just brand recognition. Even guys like Capcom are doing it, by taking a crappy third person shooter and calling it "RE4" and such. It's an easy way to get everyone on board.
In modern warfare 19's defense where are they supposed to go? Everybody but price was dead and the original people that made the story left the studio so it would be really hard to continue that. So the best option was probably a reboot

The best idea, in my opinion for the players and the developers. Is to create a new game give us all the black ops and modern warfare weapons. The price being 60 dollars for the full game. Have supply drop weapons like b03 but not overpowered like AE or IW. No silly skins. Boots on the ground combat,a mixture of old and brand new killstreaks. For example a emp kill streak that disables enemy minimap and kill streaks for 30 seconds. Make everything in the game op. Finally no sbmm instead connection based matchmaking with non disbanding lobbies. There is a cashcow for the shareholders and happy players. Also specalist packages.
Ill sum up this unnecessarily long 8 minute video with a sentence:
Business execs hate what risks to their bottom line and keep recycling what worked before.
COD need to move away from the action movie mentality first if it wants to find a clear and coherent identity to itself again. Namely, it needs to harken back to the interactive documentary mentality of the first three CODs covering historical wars outside of World War 2. There are plenty of proxy wars and regional conflicts throughout the 20th century with the drama that could fill a COD campaign. But the devs either are not aware of it, or can’t hope to make a viable sales pitch of those to Activision because the community keeps yammering for MW and Black Ops nostalgia of 2007-2011.
Because the players shit on Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare despite the three of these games having some of the best campaigns/Singleplayer in COD history. As a result, activision is too afraid to invest on new universes/worlds so they just get IW to keep churning out retconned MW entries lol.
I also feel sorry for treyarch, theyve essentially made the same game since 2009 (black ops). Cold War campaign was awesome though, but id be totally ok with BO3 and Bo4 not existing.

Activision made the community what it is

Treyarch can't help but milk the Black Ops franchise
A cod ghost 2 would most definitely be welcomed even an advanced warfare 2. Honestly the Modern warfare series needs to take a break. They should have just kept with formula like Black ops and added to the timeline after Makarov.

For the longest time, Infinity Ward was my favorite studio, because they made the greatest gaming trilogy of all time (in my opinion) but now it is treyarch due to IW pissing on the OG’s legacy. The fanbase has been fickle for YEARS. Give it time and they'll flip flop on their ideas. I remember when Blops1 came out, people said it was too slow and they ruined quickscoping... original MW3 came out and people said it's MW2.5 and worse than original MW2... every year, there was a petty complaint...
When WW2 came out and we got boots on the ground again, people complained about that game too. People will call COD dead but they're the same group to say the same about Fortnite and everyone FPS or battle royale

WW2 is such an under appreciated game. It's the last Cod I genuinely enjoyed and grinded tf out of. The movement wasn't really the issue, I mean yeah it could have been a tiny bit faster, but really not much different to the OG MW2, Bo1 etc, just the maps on WW2 were the worst part of that game, either too big or just poorly designed, there are a few stand outs of good maps though, but less than half unfortunately. I feel like if the game released with the post overhaul divisions, better maps, and if Fortnite didn't come out the same time, WW2 would have been a very successful game, and more people would look back on it fondly like I do. I still play it here and there, the game is pretty dead though, least in Australia I can only get 4 bar lobbies on Shipment, but the gameplay of WW2 is so fun.

Here's what I want them to do end the reboot saga with the New MW4 by killing Makarov again then end Black ops saga at BO7 in 2030s when menendez escapes prison with a campaign which explores his origins. I want call of duty ghosts 2 I just wanna see what Rorke idea for kidnapping your character to work with the south American Federation. A prequel to Advanced warfare with the rise of Atlas Corporation where you play as Mitchell in the US marines in his early army life, Jonathan irons and Gideon with Atlas so we can shoot setinal and the Terrorist threats.
