Thank you for making this one, none of my local stores would go into why they don’t recommend sending them off for grading just that it’s not worth it. Really great breakdown that answers a fair amount of my grading questions I’ve had for over 2 years
glad it was helpful!
grading is still worth it, just depends on the card and your intentions. plenty of ways to grade and flip cards still.
I’ve done one PSA submission which was returned last month. I have a pretty good eye for detail and only sent in cards that I thought had a good chance at getting 10s. Of course they didn’t all come back as 10s (I think pop control is real). But nevertheless I had to sell off my grade 10 Gengar Masterball and Charizard 151 SIR grade 10 just to make back the money that I spent on getting 20 cards graded. I ended up paying $20 per card, the total was over $500! Idk how some people only pay $15 per card. I’m pretty sure it was just a standard 3 month return… And sure now I have 18 graded cards I can hold long term if I want, but dang I would have liked to hold those long term too, and they were the only ones I could sell off for the grading amount to go ahead and get myself out of the hole for the grading fee and shipping.
ANYWAYS, all in all, it wasn’t worth it for me. I also have a hunch that one of my cards was damaged by them. It came back a 7 because of a ding on the back of it that wasn’t there before, and I took photos of all the cards before sending them off. I’m rambling... The entire thing is just a huge headache and not worth it unless flipping cards is your full time gig.
Good insight here. If you get 10s and like flipping cards or want graded cards to hold long term, then it's worth it. But otherwise, it's a lot of work and kind of like gambling.
@@ThePokeOfficeGAMBLING???? IM SOLD 😍😍😍😍😍
Why does it cost more to grade cards that end up being worth more? Especially when card prices fluctuate in value. Also how do they know the price of the card if the price can swing by 1.5-2x once graded. Do they have a pricing index that they go by?
Great submission! Alot of nice 10s there. Really hard to get 10s on 151 cards
Yea apparently. I've had quite a few of the SV151 cards come back 9 instead of 10s
Thank you for the information because I live in Toronto, and I want to send my cards to PSA
Good luck!
PSA isn't in CGC's ball park in service nor simplicity of using. It's fine though, I get it; card collectors seem to prefer it. I'd use CGC over PSA for ANY other item though, comics, vhs etc.
Yea fair enough.. lots of it is actually just personal preference too, but I think PSA has the best resellable aspect out of the big card graders
As someone who's just getting into graded cards, this is something I've seen have a widespread sometimes.@@ThePokeOffice
Thank you for this video description helps a lot for a Canadian like me that is thinking of gradimg cards for the 1st time
if I bought pokemon center etbs and being in ontario will I get duty fees
No I don't think so. But we'll see what happens with the new rules.
Goin tons of places. Glad I was in the 1st 1000 subs. Pretty cool watching your channel grow so fast
Let's go dude! Thanks for all your support!
I've been curious about the process of getting stuff to psa9 from Canada. Thank you for all that info!!!! Don't have enough cards that I would like graded yet so I may have to wait. Don't know of ppl around my area doing "group submissions"... Btw, a tutorial video would be phenomenal!!!
Feel free to send your cards to me if you want and I can include them in the next submission. Or KD Collectibles in the Toronto area does it really well.
@@ThePokeOffice you know man... I may take you up on that! I would be curious what you think about some of them (whether their condition is worth grading or not) I've bought a few graded cards but never gotten any graded myself. Plus it would be cool to see a vid of it
You could find a middleman or a buddy in the US. If you could find someone you trust it could save you. All of the fees because you are in Canada are wild.
Yea but then I'd have to declare it at the border anyways. So it's overall not worth the hassle. I don't like lying at the border
Great video answers lots of questions!!
Glad it was helpful!
Sent my first sub during the boom. It took like 18 months to return 😂
Dang, that's insane. These ones actually only took like 2 months
It’s a ridiculous thing to up charge for grading something a 10 in the first place, if they’re grading all the cards the same then the cost should be the same too. Also, yeah I would be pretty annoyed too if they turned my single shipped box into two and had to pay even more shipping for that.
Meh, yea it's annoying but it's a mistake that I will learn from next time
@@ThePokeOffice Yeah, my main concern with getting a batch of stuff ready to grade has been not knowing what kind of extra charges I might get.
and no i never graded a card yet i have had plans to do so if i can find a card worthy grading do not want garbage graded cards so it a waiting game to make sure it is a hitter
Yea, I'm quite picky with the cards I submit.
How close to the border are you? If you can swing it and find a friend just on the other side you can ship it from their address and save some money
It wouldn't matter much - I'd still have to declare it at the border. I have a PO box in Sumas WA, but by the time I drive there and back, it's not really worth it.
@@ThePokeOffice are you sure? I know you have to declare things you intend to sell but I don’t think you do for personal collection.
I appreciate all of this information!
I have some base set I want to get graded. If I know it’s not going to get a 10 should I just use cgc to get them in a case and protected? Or should I still use PSA?
That’s really a personal preference
Can’t wait till I have the money to send my first submission to psa or bgs
Great video fellow Canadian so it answered pretty much all of my questions. Will you allow viewers to send you cards to include with future submissions of yours?
Yea I’d be fine with that. Just would require some communication up front
i just recently got into card stuff, opened my first ever pack of surging sparks and pulled a pikachu i want to get it graded, i'm also in Canada so from your math is seems it would be $30 for a single grade, correct?
That’s with the bulk rate because I have a psa subscription
@@ThePokeOffice gotcha, ty for the quick reply
+100 hyped. I have no clue how some of those got 8s or 9s...will have to look closer but I am fired up for round 2!!
You're return was insane!
Great video. Your absolutely correct. If not gem mint 10 raw is much better
Absolutely
Yeah , I complained to Fedex about my duties on items that were mine to begin with. They wrote me an email stating the new painful rules. What a hit to that bottom line. Buying mostly sealed boxes this year.
yep it's total garbage imo
Nice! Very informative
This was very informative. I did my first submission and managed to pull a 10 on my Charizard SIR from 151. However I am very picky now on what I submit so I can receive a 10.
That is awesome!
been waiting going on 4 months for a submission 😢
Weird - these ones only took like 2 months
The zard is A ten still imo 😅
Hey man, i wanted to ask you what i should do because i trust your opinions and judgment... So, the place i was gonna order it from sold out of 6 box lost origin booster cases... ugh. Before my account was credited the $$$ from the gift card i cashed out (takes 4 days and they didnt load my account in time smh) ... so.. do i go FUSION STRIKE 6 box case for 999.99 OR do i go BRILLIANT STARS 6 box case for 1050?? If fusion strike, i also have 50 more for a low end jay & silent bob box on top lol. I'm leaning that because of Gengar, Espeon & Celebi.... what do you think?? Which would you personally grab? It'll be my first sealed 6 box case that I'll add to this sealed collection.
Thanks in advance!
oof, that's a tough one. I think both are good options honestly, so go with your gut. I personally would probably go brilliant stars. But as I'm typing that out, I'm questioning my decision already
@@ThePokeOffice yeah I'm having trouble committing to one lol thanks man!!!
@@Nyfancam01Go fusion strike, the Gengar is enough to swing the vote and you get your Jay and silent Bob box as icing on the cake.
@LordGank1 yes sir!! This order is 1 Brilliant Stars box, 1 Lost Origin box, 1 jay & silent bob UD box and a 6 BOX CASE of fusion strike 😀 🥳 🥳 🎉
Thabk you for this
You're welcome
Every ten feels even more stressful and satisfying
true story. But getting those 10s feels so good
Wait i dont understand why u paid duties and taxes.
Because I had a service done in USA, so the border is charging taxes for that now. 12%
@@ThePokeOffice 12% is insane
PSA to me is the biggest scam artist there is. I've seen perfect gem mint cards come back 8-9 but see cards with slight whitening or centering off come back 10. I believe their just out to get as much money as they can from every submission. That's why I believe your better off with raw cards
Psa is such a rip off lol
but getting those 10s feels really good
👌👍
What about a base set booster and a base set jungle? I bought a pack with one of each of those recently. I was thinking about getting them graded. Would it be worth it?
Just to add i bought the pair for $700.
I've never graded a pack before, so I'm not 100% sure about it
@ThePokeOffice thanks for the response brother. 👍
