I'd love this set. As well as the orange and green BNSF loco, Maersk set and emerald night. Defo wish I was old enough back in the 2000's to collect them all
Just built this with my own spare parts but the windscreen is going to cost me a small fortune so for now it's just a normal clear 6x2 windscreen. Grey bogie stuff on the wheels is also super expensive. The train does look amazing for an American loco.
but it runs very smoothly! I plan to do powered up when I do build mine. Where did you get those grey pieces that go over the powered up wheels. I will need to get those as well. I have the locomotive and a passenger car from the 3:1 series it came in. Let me know
If you buy the complete set, the wheel guards will come with it as they are meant for the 9v conversion but fit on the new powered up motor. If you can't find them or didn't get them, ebay may be your best bet
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 okay sweet, I have a complete set, i just havent opened it yet. So the only cutting I will have to do is on the wheel pins in the powered up set?
@@StudCity Yeah, it's not a nice feeling to butcher lego but it's not original to the set so I'm OK with it. The wheen guards will fit snug on the bogey once it's done, just a compatability thing as this set came out way before even the power functions stuff.
No, not really. I haven't got the set. It may be worth looking at some other tutorials on the unit. From what I understand it uses a gear system which makes it harder. I suppose you could just power the tender and weigh the main engine down
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 so this morning i stripped the coal tender down and put in powered up functions and was not heavy enough and couldnt get the engine moveing at all. Ill continue to play with it.
Not off the top of my head. It came from the kit included with the santa fe for the original conversion to 9v. Bricklink might have it under the train tag
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 thank you. A friend sent me the same info just as I found it. Three heads are MUCH better than one. The tip of black axel may show but that would be a lot better than two inches of blackness.

Sounds like mumbo jumbo😮
Yeah my cousin had the limited edition one and me and my dad found all the pieces from the bin and I’m happy
Nice! Shame they wanted to throw it away.
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 he also had the observation car wich we found the pieces for that too
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 I also like how you made it powerd up
@@Bean-tm2ce thank you 😁

I'm debating hunting down this train 🤔
It's worth it

They don't make them like they used to. The parts on thier own are expensive as you said but even together the set is expensive
@Tim yeah, my system is the newer one so I would have had to fork out a ton to change tracks

@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 well thank you I appreciate all the help!
@@StudCity No worries :) glad the video could help too. I only created it because I couldn't find anyone else doing it
i just got one of these i need to power it up when i build. Do you know how to get the emerald night to run smoothly?? thats my current struggle

@@StudCity yeah, it seems like tough one, one option could be to power carriage? Keep the internals for the train for weight
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 look into car wheel weights to add just that extra bit of weight for traction.
Thanks for posting this. I was tempted to go after the Emerald. I'll just think more about getting the Santa Fe
Hi I am going to be receiving a Santa Fe in a couple days and wanted to power it up what tools did you use to cut the technique stick?
Just a pair of cutters but if you want a cleaner cut, you can use a hobby knife
@@CPPRODUCTIONS1001 thanks for the info
Do you know the part(s) number for the covering of the wheels? Knew I’d have to cut the axel but not find new parts.
Not off the top of my head. It came from the kit included with the santa fe for the original conversion to 9v.
Bricklink might have it under the train tag
Thank you.
No luck yet but thank you again, think I’m going to need an exact part number.

YOU RUINED IT!!!!!!
How did he ruin it?
All of it can be rebuilt. The axel piece was not from this set but from the motor set
