even though the simulation is not perfect. It is the best option for people to get the closest Jupiter 8 sound without spending countless of thousands. Best to be used with hardware as the buttons can be very small to press with the mouse (maybe if they offered it in larger resolutions).
I have a serious practical question.. I understand you retro audiophiles can hear subtle difference between this digital plug-in vs the analog original, but if I were to compose a modern song using the Jupiter 8V popular factory presets, would the average music listener be able to tell in a way that effects whether they like it? Will the sound from the 8V and arrangement itself spark the nostalgia in the audience that I'm aiming for? Is this emulation so different that it will not work for pop?
Yeah, originally it was considered unprofessional to use built in effects. Same like with built in speakers, we still giggle at that. The only accepted professional way of using effects, was dedicated effects unit. Hence the DX7 has no effects processor built in. It was assumed that the player would use it in a proper environment like studio or stage were effects processors and mixing boards are available. But you have to use effects very very carefully. It's better dry than dripping :)
I am using the Arturia collection and like the sound of the synths. But I still struggle with the interface concept of these simulations: the buttons are tiny on a high resolution screen and only really useable with external hardware controls. Owning the original makes only sense for fans and enthusiasts. The simulations sound good enough for the vast majority of us.
Any soft synth needs to be processed and Eq'd etc just like any hardware stuff that gets recorded yaknow. Can't just expect the direct sound to sound good. Just look at his JP-8000 review. It sounds great. But when you look for the same synth and samples of it on Vintagesynth(dot)com it sounds pretty bad.
I used to own a Jupiter-8, and while this has a nice sound and features, it has the same issues most of these soft synths have in that you're not going to get a true analog sound out of a digital Intel chip. Out of all the Arturia soft synths, I like the Arp 2600 most, the closest to authentic sound. The Prophet VS least. The JP-8 a bit better, and the CS-80v a little better as well. Again, you want analog, buy analog. These synths you buy for fun, and good VA sounds.
is anyone playing this video via studio monitors? I'm playing via HS80M, and honestly it sounds like the 80s music I remember in countless songs. The 720P video = 226 mp3 quality I believe, not too bad.
I was going to say the same thing. It sounds crystaline, weird... No wonder real Jupiters go for so much on eBay. We are moving backwards in technology by making an Intel processor do everything. Where are the separate circuits for each voice?
This thing sounds great for what it is. Ok not a true J8 but its pretty dam close. Yeah it doesn't sound as "warm" (way overused term by the way). I A/B'd with real J8 in great condition and this sounds real good. Use some good FX's and dynamic processing and you can get it dialed in. Have you ever A/B'd with real J8? I can't say we are going back in technology just different. One constant is change, even though it does suck sometimes. Yes I would rather a real J8 but for 100$ you kind of can't beat it I think.
Normally I would say the original hardware sounds better and try to get it. But considering how many thousands of dollars the Jupiter 8 goes for...Unless you are in some sort of specialty professional need for the exact hardware sound. Go for this. You can barely tell a difference...and even if you can tell a difference...the thousands saved from buying the actual hardware will make you feel a lot better.
wow this VSTi sounds so boring and lifeless i cant believe it is actually named after the amazing hardware Jupiter-8... Arturia emulations are a joke... their emulation of CS-80 uber synth is laughable...
I love this guy.
YAY.. English translation! Thanks! :)

yeah, a JP8 costs $10k ?!
Great Video ! :)
Great video. I have really been wanting a virtual Jupiter, now I just may get me one. Domo Arigato!

Galaxy stuff and Morphing, wooow awesome
Wise grasshopper, very wise.
Sincerely - thank you.
This new V2 version sounds that much better than the old one too...

Wow! Sounds exactly alike all other VSTs out there.
This video does the plug no justice.
Nice joke
I love this guy! I've got enough Japanese that this guy knows what he is talking about. Too bad there aren't subtitles.
JUPITER-8 の実機デモをぜひお願いします
What about 1080p, i mean for even better sound?
Name of melody at 4:02?

just realized Im using the same Echo Audiofire and Sharper Image USB hub in this video. the Universe is aligned.

@remixerone youtube kills the original sound, cant judge

but why would you pay $6,000 for a $3,000 synthesizer?

even a guy as awesome as this guy can't make this sound better than a real jupiter 8

This is the filter.....this is the LFO.....etc
Sounds just like a CS80...;c)

how about boutique version?
うっひゃー‼受験生の敵!(笑)
what about english subs....JUST PRESS !
Their Arp 2600 is nice I find, obviously it's not near as good as the original, for obvious reasons.
:D
Wow, I was expecting Jupiter 80, not emulation,,
I disagree, and I used to own a CS80. Laugh with joy more like.
