    The green screen is great and all, but (nothing against you) its somewhat boring to watch you just standing there with some footage in background 5min straight. Would be nice, if you could cut between yourself and some normal shots

    Like the green screen effect but also enjoy the close ups of you sitting at your desk. Great thinking on the Dollar Store green poster board for a green wall!

      Nice green screen. However with the dynamic shots in the background it makes me feel a little dizzy and it doesn’t make up for the sound. You sitting in front of a mic feels much more intimate.
      Love your reviews though, I would stay here however you present them.

      Lol I get going budget for a green screen but then the halo effect and sometimes the image coming through your shirt just looks like lesser quality than your other videos. I'd rather see voiceovers and closer shots.

    The pads were changed around early 2017 to make them bigger, changing the sound greatly. Try putting the PSB M4U1 pads on, or the ATH MSR7 pads, as they supposedly make them sound like they would with the older pads. I have not heard them with the MSR7 pads or the old pads, but with the PSB Pads, they sound much more balanced, with non - overly boosted, well controlled bass, smooth clear mids, and non - fatiguing highs. They sound really good now.

    I have owned these in the past and they are absolutely awesome. In reality, they are very good for music listening as they have a fun V shaped sound signature. Feed these phones more voltage from a good headphone amp and the bass tightens up nicely and the sound signature takes on a more balanced form. Mostly I disagree with DMS on ' these are only good for movies and gaming' as this is not true at all!

      yes! they need proper amp I'm using D70/887 THX stack 💪 2nd gain 12'oclock they are on power to show full potential, they hit harder than planars in that price

    Great channel! I've found it recently.
    Between these and the AKG K371, which one is more pleasant for you? Also, which one would have less fatiguing bass? Soundstage? I mean, I'm probably resquesting here a full comparison video :P
    Any thoughts on those two would be great. Cheers!

    Went out and bought these, expecting more. There’s a lot missing in the mids! I returned a pair of Grado RS2e’s, which sounded amazing in comparison, but with crappy build quality. Guess I should’ve kept them. I’m trying to keep budget under $700 as this is my first set of real cans.

    Green screen with weatherman style frequency graphs is an absolute win! However, just need to fix your voice recording situation, sounds tinni, and hollow.

    I just purchased the Meze 99 Classics...larger pads. Bass was loose and flabby, the mids and treble were fuzzy, but there also was a sharp 4 to 5 kHz spike that took over the sound signature. I have been pad rolling for over 2 weeks now. I noticed there hasn't been a consensus pad as a replacement. I was becoming highly discouraged while pad rolling... last minute, I tried the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin pads for the ATH-M50x....WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT! I highly recommend those of you who aren't happy with the sound signature with the newer Meze pads to check out the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin pads for the ATH-M50x. I think they sound amazing on the Meze 99 Classics.

      Have you tried the Brainwavz Sheepskin Leather pads? I heard they are extremely good for this headphone.

    • @hazi5961
      @hazi5961 6 років тому +1

      Big Boss I thought they sounded poorly on the Meze's. The midbass became ultra muddy. The treble was toned down, which I preferred, but the bloom in the bass and mids was awful.

      @BigBoss-gb4cx 6 років тому

      Hazi59 _ Aha, I have the original pad, but heard good things about the Brainwavz pads and of course I always appreciate any sound improvement, so I was thinking about getting them.

      Actually in 2020 I would now recommend other closed-back headphones. If you like bass, k371, otherwise k361 is great and cheap.

  • @Conno422
    @Conno422 3 роки тому

    If you see this 2 years after you've posted this video, would you still recommend these headphones? I'm just looking for a comfortable sounding headphone to use in the < $250 range and the Noir variant on Drop is what I'm currently eyeing right now.

    • @DMS3TV
      @DMS3TV  3 роки тому

      Probably not now, sorry. If you need a closed-back the K361 is better and only $99. K371 if you like extra bass.

    Good discussion. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think They changed the pads, and many say they like the way the Meze 99 classics better before they changed the pads.

      I have the original pads version and I will tell you straight up, they are fantastic I love them. Bass impact is strong but definitely not like what he says and imo they are not nearly as unnatural as the newer ones, but ya no one thinks the new pads sound better. I’m trying to sell them though because my ears are too big and it hurts a little.

    And yet, Zeos loved them. It's hard to get a handle on the differences in your preferences which, naturally, effect the relevance of your reviews to us watching. Can you offer any clarification on your preferences. I know what I want, and knowing what you and Zeos want would be very helpful.

    • @DMS3TV
      @DMS3TV  6 років тому +3

      I generally prefer neutral, accurate, and comfortable headphone because of my background in sound engineering. In some cases I find an unnatural sound signature (such as LCD2) enjoyable but its not quite as often.

    • @Jowurel

      Zeos reviewed them 2 years ago. The 99 Classics have gone through three iterations of pad changes since then, all affecting the sound in some way. Everyone agrees that their latest sound is objectively inferior to their first release of the Classics.
      The 99 Classics Zeos reviewed aren’t the same as the ones reviewed in this video. Keep that in mind.

    how come beats with their really bassy signature sound, high distortion and looks, be any different from these, just because its an underground company and they have wooden earcups, nowdays even bassy and high distortion headphones are being referred to as "good", come on, these meze 99 are not different from monster or beats or any of those other brands
